Leonardo Santos vs. Sotaro Yamada Added To Sengoku 14
World Victory Road today announced an 11th fight for their upcoming Sengoku 14 event, adding Leonardo Santos vs. Sotaro Yamada to the card. A Nova Uniao black belt, Santos looks to build on a submission win over former King of Pancrase Kiuma Kunioku. Santos has earned victories in six of his past seven outings, and the lone loss came via split decision. Five of Santos' seven career wins have come via submission. Meanwhile, Yamada fights for the first time under the World Victory Road banner. Yamada returns to MMA competition for the first time since August 2008, when he fought to a draw with Ryoji Suzuki. Since that time, Yamada has been focused on grappling competitions. Yamada's MMA record includes a 1-3-1 mark in his past five trips to the ring.
2 Fights Added To Sengoku 14, Gono Drops To Lightweight
World Victory Road today announced two new bouts planned for Sengoku Raiden Championships 14. The fights include Takuya Sato vs. Motoki Miyazawa in a Welterweight fight and the Lightweight debut of popular fighter Akihiro Gono, who will face quite the tongue-twister-name in Jadamba Narantungalag, who has only fought 4 times since his debut in 2004 with one notable fight being a loss to Norifumi "Kid" Yamamoto.
7 Fights Set For Sengoku 14, Santiago-Misaki Headlines
World Victory Road has announced 7 signed fights for the upcoming Sengoku 14 event, set for August 22 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. The fights signed include 4 fights for the Bantamweight GP 2nd round, 2 fights for the Welterweight GP first round, and the postponed Jorge Santiago-Kazuo Misaki Sengoku MW Title Fight originally planned for Sengoku 13.
Matchups Announced for Sengoku Bantamweight Asia Tournament
The first round matchups for the Sengoku Raiden Championship Bantamweight Asia Tournament 2010, which starts at SRC Asia Volume 1 on July 4th at Differ Ariake, was set Friday via random draw.
The second round of the tournament will be held in late August at SRC 14. One seeded fighter from Shooto, Pancrase, Cage Force and ZST will face the second round victors in the third round of the tournament to be held in late October presumably at SRC 15. The eventual champion of the tournament will have to win five times if they are an unseeded fighter or three if they are seeded.
Jorge Santiago vs. Kazuo Misaki Title Fight In Works For Sengoku 13
World Victory Road is reportedly working on making a title fight between Sengoku Middleweight Champion Jorge Santiago and Kazuo Misaki for the upcoming Sengoku 13 event on June 20. Word is at least one fighter has signed on for the bout and it should be finalized soon. They first fought in January 2009, when Santiago won by 5th round submission to become the first and only Sengoku Middleweight Champion to date.
Kang vs. Usuda, Osawa vs. Toida Added To Sengoku 13
World Victory Road today added another 2 fights to the upcoming Sengoku/SRC 13 event. The two new bouts include Kyung Ho Kang facing Ikuo Usuda and Shegeki Osawa, who had already been announced for the card, against Katsuya Toida. SRC 13 takes place on June 20 at Ryogoku in Tokyo.
SRC 13 Adds Kikuta, Kawamura
World Victory Road today added 2 more fights to the upcoming Sengoku/SRC 13 event: Japanese veteran Sanae Kikuta will face Yasubey Enomoto and current Light Heavyweight King Of Pancrase Ryo Kawamura faces Hidetada Irie. Kikuta goes for his 3rd straight win since joining Sengoku after a 2-year layoff while Kawamura will try to win consecutive fights for the first time in 4 years.
SRC To Adopt Unified Weight Classes
World Victory Road today announced that effective June 20 they are going to change their weight classes in Sengoku/SRC to conform with the Unified MMA Rules weight classes. They will take effect at SRC 13. This should allow Japanese fighters more chances to fight abroad and allow more top-level foreigners to fight in SRC.
Denis & Sandro Added To SRC 12
World Victory Road today announced more matches for their upcoming SRC 12 event on 3/7. Breakout star and Featherweight King Of Pancrase Marlon Sandro will return to the promotion to face Tomonari Kanomata while Nick Denis has been added and will face Yuji Hoshino. Denis replaces Wilson Reis, who is off due to Bellator commitments.
Sengoku 12: Maximo Blanco vs 'Armbar Kim' confirmed for March 7
Lightweight King of Pancrase and former freestyle wrestling standout, Maximo "Maxi" Blanco (4-2-1) has been confirmed to square off with Korean submission artist, Chang Hyun Kim (15-5) at Sengoku 12 on March 7.Sengoku 12, the inaugural event under the new "Sengoku Raiden Championship" banner will take place at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, and the event will air on HDNet in North America.

World Victory Road today announced 3 additional fights for it's Sengoku 12 (SRC 12) event on 3/7 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo. Confirmed matchups include Akihiro Gono vs. Diego Gonzalez, Yoshihiro Nakao vs. Henry Miller, and Leonardo Santos vs. Kiuma Kunioku.
Two More Bouts Added To March 7 Sengoku
Two more big fights have been added to the upcoming Sengoku 12 card set for March 7 as Eiji Mitsuoka faces Leo Santos, while Kiuma Kunioku takes on Maximo Blanco on the same show.
The bouts were confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fights, who indicated both will take place on the March 7 show.
Eiji Mitsuoka (16-7-2) returns to Sengoku after losing a decision to Kazunori Yakota in November. Mitsuoka is 5-2 in his last seven fights with wins over fights like Clay French, Joachim Hansen, and Rodrigo Damm.
Wilson Reis Off SRC 12
Although World Victory Road has announced him as competing at Sengoku 12 on 3/7, it now turns out that Wilson Reis will not compete at the event. No exact reason given beyond undisclosed reasons, but it could be personal reasons.
