Memo to WEC: Doing a PPV in May Is Asking for Disaster
I've long been a skeptic of the WEC's prospects for PPV, but I understand why they need to start running PPV events. If they can't succeed on PPV they won't be financially viable in the long haul, and they can't count on Zuffa subsidizing them just to keep Versus occupied forever. However, May is a bad month for an obvious reason: there is way too much competition for the WEC to succeed in May.
WEC Quick Quote: Jens Pulver can still compete if he stops being dumb
"This fight is very important man. I can't lose 5 fights in a row, come on. It can't happen, so this fight means a lot man. I feel like I have been losing because I was dumb, you know what I'm saying? I'm just getting caught in dumb stuff. even in the first fight with Urijah, don't get me wrong, he is fast, but I made his hands look faster because I fought dumb. But I want to show everyone that I can still fight and that I can still compete."
Caraway vs. Paixao Latest Addition To WEC Card
Caraway (14-4) made his WEC debut in January after stepping in on short notice to face Canadian fighter Mark Hominick. The former EliteXC and Strikeforce fighter was doing well in the bout until he got caught in an armbar that forced the TapouT and handed Caraway his first loss after winning three fights in a row.
Palaszewski vs. Darabedyan In WEC March 6
The lightweights will go to battle as the WEC invades Columbus, OH when former IFL stand-out, Bart Palaszewski, takes on rising star, Karen Darabedyan, in a 155lb contest on the undercard of the Saturday night event. Miguel Torres fires camp; now Dellagrotte, Drysdale
Some media outlets called it the upset of the year. It was shocking to see Brian Bowles take out Miguel Torres at WEC 42 and it did upset the former bantamweight champ. Torres realized he had gotten into a comfort zone, was surrounded by yes men and was fighting with the wrong approach.
"I've used the same training partners for 11 or 12 years, and I haven't brought any of them back for this fight," Torres told the Las Vegas Sun. "What ended up happening was — I wasn't getting cocky, they got cocky. They would say, 'Oh, you're going to kill this guy. He's only got seven fights.'"
- Castillo VS. Pettis Added To WEC In Columbus
The fight card for the WEC's debut in Columbus, OH is filling up fast as the promotion announced the addition of a lightweight bout pitting Danny Castillo against Anthony Pettis in a preliminary fight on the show.
The promotion made the announcement about the fight on Monday evening.
Castillo currently holds a 3-2 record in the WEC with wins over notable fighters such as Ricardo Lamas and Rafael Dias. His losses come by way of two of the top fighters in the WEC's lightweight division in Donald Cerrone and Shane Roller.
Miguel Torres: 'A rematch with Brian Bowles is more important to me than a title shot'
Former 135-pound kingpin Miguel Torres goes back to basics after a stunning defeat at the heavy hands of new bantamweight champion Brian Bowles at WEC 42 back in August 2009. Bowles will make his first title defense at WEC 47 on March 6 in a bout that will have Torres driving the Cruz bandwagon so that he can get back into the cage with Bowles and prove his loss was a fluke. Will Torres get his revenge? Or has his storied championship reign come to an end, much like Urijah Faber's did at WEC 36 now that the WEC has a stacked roster?

With Haitian relatives now safe, WEC's Macken Semerzier asks fans for support
Most of us will never fully understand the amount of destruction this past week's earthquake delivered to the impoverished nation of Haiti.
WEC featherweight Mackens Semerzier is not one of those people.
Born in Florida to Haitian parents and married to a Haitian wife, Semerzier waited days to learn the fate of many of his family members who remained in the Caribbean nation. While his family survived the disaster, Semerzier knows there are many others still in need. Now he's turning to the MMA community for assistance.

Wagnney Fabiano “Faber will be knocked out by José Aldo”
The quote above is from Wagnney Fabiano, José Aldo’s team partner. Nova União’s black belt, Wagnney is very confident to the next fight of Aldo on WEC, that Will be against Urijah Faber. “I think Faber is dangerous than (Mike) Brown, but I think that he will be knocked out (laugh). If it isn’t on the beginning it’s gonna be forward… If Brown last two rounds, he will last three. The end is the same, it’s gonna be knocked out”, bets.
FABER WOULD LIKE MID-MAY SHOWDOWN WITH ALDO
It's likely to be the fight that headlines the first ever WEC pay-per-view, and even though former champion Urijah Faber is only days removed from his latest win, he's already breaking down his next opponent, featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
Watching a DVD of all of Aldo's 18 fights, Faber believes that he can find a weakness in the game of a fighter who has looked nearly unbeatable in all of his fights in the WEC. The "California Kid" is confident he'll have the kryptonite to Aldo's Superman...
WEC Quick Quote: Urijah Faber feels he has the 'edge' over Jose Aldo
First off, you have to be able to match his speed, which I know I can do. Just be wary of all his tools. He's got some really dangerous tools. Stand up, he's got those low leg kicks that open things up for him. He's got the knees that seem to reach people's faces very, very easily, and he's got really fast, powerful hands. So I'll be aware of that, have good defense, and be ready to throw my own heavy punches and be able to dictate where the fight goes with takedowns. And I feel like, even though he's a black belt, I feel like I still have the grappling edge."
Urijah Faber sat down with Pro MMA Radio this past Monday (Jan. 11) to discuss his upcoming title fight with the young and dangerous WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.
