Despite Rumors, Ortiz-Machida Still On
(mmanews.com)
Despite rumors started recently by Renato Sobral that the Tito Ortiz vs. Ryoto (Lyoto) Machida fight at UFC 84 was off, it has been confirmed by UFC matchmaker Joe Silva that the fight actually is still on and the contracts are signed.

Silva To Middleweight This Year?
(mmaweekly.com)
Although nothing is official yet, there are now rumors that Wanderlei Silva is considering dropping to Middleweight, fueled largely by the desire for a rematch with PRIDE Welterweight Champion Dan Henderson, the man who beat Wanderlei in their final PRIDE fight. Such a move likely wouldn't happen before May.

Undisputed
(ufc.com)
For the second time in six months, the stage is set to definitively answer one of the fundamental questions burning in the collective minds of middleweight fight fans worldwide: who is the real champion? At UFC 82, reigning UFC 185-lb champion Anderson Silva will face reigning PRIDE 183-lb champion Dan Henderson to end the debate, at least for now, as to who is the unchallenged ruler of the mixed martial arts middleweight kingdom. Silva is on the verge of the most successful middleweight championship run in UFC history. His March 1 unification fight will be the third defense of his title. If successful, he will break his current tie with former champion Rich Franklin and set a new standard against which all future middleweight champions will be measured. Henderson is the only 183-lb champion that PRIDE has ever known, winning the title by defeating Murilo Bustamante at PRIDE Shockwave 2005. Two years later, Hendo shocked the word by savagely knocking out then-205-lb champion Wanderlei Silva to become the only simultaneous two-division champion that the sport has ever known.

Report: UFC 81 Registers 650,000 PPV “Buys”
(mmajunkie.com)
UFC 81 event that took place earlier this month and featured Brock Lesnar’s highly marketed UFC debut has registered approximately 650,000 pay-per-view “buys,” according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer. Just prior to UFC 81, the UFC increased the price of its stand-definition pay-per-view broadcasts from $39.95 to $44.95. Although a small number of additional buys will trickle in (cable systems have a taped version of the broadcast available for purchase), Meltzer reports that the event will be third-highest-grossing event in UFC history — behind only December 2006’s UFC 66 event (Chuck Liddell vs. Tito Ortiz II) and July 2006’s UFC 61 event (Tito Ortiz vs. Ken Shamrock II).

Matt Lindland says UFC will not negotiate a deal with him
mmajunkie.com has the whole story but this is the short version. Matt Lindland says that he told the UFC to make him an offer and they could start to mesh out a deal from there. Dana didn't respond, he had matchmaker Joe Silva tell him that they would not be making any offer to fight. The UFC claims it has to do with Lindland wearing a sponsors logo to the weigh in of his last fight against Joe Doerksen that he was told not to wear. This lead to his dismissile from the company 2 days later. Lindland now is dealing with issues with Bodog Fight. They are apparently not holding up to there end of their deal which Matt still has 2 fights left on.

Boetsch Talks Hamill and New Deal with UFC
(mmaweekly.com)
Stepping up on short notice is sure to be the calling card for Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight Tim Boetsch, who will again stand in for an injured fighter as he takes on Matt Hamill at UFC Fight Night on April 2 in Broomfield, Colo. Though he is replacing Stephan Bonnar, the Pennsylvania-based fighter is looking forward to having more time to get ready for his return to the Octagon. “I’m trying to figure out what to do with all the time,” said Boetsch with a laugh about having more time to prepare for this fight than his last time out. It seems UFC matchmaker Joe Silva has the fighter’s number on speed dial, as this is the second time he will step up for the promotion and Boetsch is fine with that arrangement. “I’ll be ready to fight whenever and wherever they need me,” he stated. “Somebody gets hurt or drops out, I think my name’s close to the top of the list of people they want to call.”

More words from Cro Cop
(mma-id.com)
On the UFC Fighting in the cage just didn't feel good. The real problem was in me, not in the UFC or the cage. That wasn't who I am and I will return one day to fight in the cage. I owe this to all of my fans and especially my UK fans. On Dana White I can perfectly understand a decreased interest in me after my bad performances. It's just business and you can't blame the UFC or Mr. White for putting me aside. I can only say that Mr. White acted very professional and I had no problem in getting released from my UFC contract. I also hope that we'll always respect each other and perhaps work together in the future. On Dream and the contract My dream has come true, I'll fight in Japan again. I've signed a three fight contract with a possibility of extension. It's where I had some memorable moments, where I feel at home. DREAM is a new organization with a good management and huge potential. Japan is a big market and these guys know how to bring something to a high level. I'll do my best to help them on that way. On title fights Yes, there were some talk of me being involved in a first DREAM heavyweight title fight. I'm welcoming this opportunity and I'm willing to fight anyone they put me against. I feel reborn and I'll be on a quest for the most anticipated titles in the world. On possible Cro Cop vs Fedor II The moment our first fight finished I wanted to fight him again. He's a brilliant fighter and it would be a honor to fight him again. This fight is really a nice thought, but I'll take one step at a time and we'll see what happens. On problems and defeats The losses came from a lack of motivation. I was really empty, I had no fire left in me. It's something that is probably the worst scenario for a professional fighter. What was left for me was to give a serious thought about if I had anything left in me. Now I feel different, but you just can't bring the time back. Hopefully I'll have my chance to fight against these fighters again. I have been having major problems getting onto the site to read his blogs, they are so overwhelmed with people it's eating the bandwidth, so I posted what he said so if you guys are having problems you don't have to wait 8 hours. I hope everyone can be as respectful as Cro Cop always is when discussing his words.

Dana White says UFC door still open for Cro Cop
(mmaweekly.com)
Few notes: Cro Cop says he didnt like the cage (big shocker) Also says he will likely be back someday. I think his return will be a huge draw, when/if it happens. I hope he can regain his winning ways & come back with a vengence. Time will tell T777

Anderson Silva Looking At Moving Up To Light Heavyweight?
(fightline.com)
Chris Fries and The JDH recently interviewed Ed Suarez, manager of Anderson Silva and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria on The Lights Out Show. Suarez made some very interesting comments regarding Silva and Big Nog. Suarez On Silva: “We would consider going up in weight…” “…I don’t think there’s a middleweight in the world that could beat him…You’d have a hard time having a light heavyweight in the world that could beat him.”

Matt Lindland: UFC Won't Offer Me A Deal
(mmajunkie.com)
Perennial top-ranked Middleweight Matt Lindland is getting ready to sign a new contract with an organization, but it won't be with UFC. Lindland said Dana White won't make him an offer, and in a perhaps insulting move Lindland said it was UFC matchmaker Joe Silva, not Dana, who passed along the news to him.

Dana's Response to Cro-Cop's Departure
I just talked to DW and this is what he had to say: The split was amicable and the terms were decided on in advance. Cro Cops $350k (plus bonuses) contract had a clause in it stating that if he lost two consecutive fights Zuffa had the right to void the existing agreement and negotiate a new one. CC never dreamed that he would be so overwhelmed by the level of competition he has faced in the UFC so far and and the losses have impacted him mentally. The UFC did NOT cut Cro Cop from the roster nor did they threaten to make him sit out until his contract expired if he didn't take the pay cut deal. Rather than negotiate a new contract with the UFC right now (and risk racking up more losses), Cro Cop wants to get a couple of tune up fights (and wins) in some of the smaller shows (no more tune up matches for him in the UFC) in hopes of rebuilding his confidence and getting himself back on track. DW understood completely and supported Cro Cop in his decision. The last thing DW wants to do is shell out a six-figure purse to a fighter that isn't fighting worth a dayum. Even though it would have been lower than the original figure, it would still be a waste of money and resources. Cro Cops ultimate goal is to win the UFC HW championship belt and DW believes he still has the potential to accomplish that goal. CC's plan when he signed with the UFC was, "I will become Champion after three matches. I will need two and a half or three months off between each match. I expect to hold the UFC belt by the Summer. Then I want Pride Champion Fedor Emelianenko, Vs Me the UFC Heavyweight Champion on New Years Eve." http://www.mmaplayground.com/discussion/topic/cro-cop--mean-goodbye-pride-329p1.html
