Bidding Wars Coming to MMA? EliteXC Could Use CBS Deal to Add UFC Talent
(sports.aol.com)
In the sport of mixed martial arts, UFC is unquestionably the leading organization, and it's not even close. Other MMA promotions exist, but they haven't even come close to reaching the levels of popularity -- or the levels of fighting talent -- that UFC has achieved. But EliteXC has a chance of challenging UFC, thanks to a deal that will put it on CBS. Even if they do disappointing ratings by network television standards, the fights CBS will televise on May 31 will instantly become the most-watched fights in American MMA history. And if EliteXC is smart, it will use that to attract top fighters away from UFC.

Karo Parisyan: A Fight Tale
(ufc.com)
Some people are destined to live with aggressive circumstances underscoring their daily existence. Aggression is a fuel, renewable like ethanol, that comes from one’s environment and which can lead you to success or disaster. Karo Parisyan is the picture of success through aggression and it has danced before his eyes like aging celebrities on reality television. This tale has taken many forms but none as unique as that experienced by “The Heat”. This is A Fight Tale.

Fitch: GSP's running scared
(setanta.com)
so I pasted it below as well. I thought it was quite funny myself. Enjoy.

Jon Fitch has accused Georges St-Pierre of running scared and he has called on The UFC to finally give him a title shot. Fitch took his UFC record to 8-0 with a convincing victory over Chris Wilson, and now he wants a crack at the welterweight title. St-Pierre fights Matt Serra at “UFC 83: Serra vs St-Pierre 2" in a bid to reclaim his belt after Serra stunned him with a first round knock-out at "UFC 69". Related Links UFC Fitch is adamant he should be next in line to face the winner, and while he would not predict a winner, he taunted St-Pierre – claiming he is scared. “The thing I’ve noticed most about St-Pierre in his recent performances is he has become a wrestler. Since getting knocked out he’s been unwilling to stand and trade with people,” said Fitch. “He had an easy win against Matt Hughes in their second fight where he knocked him out, but after being knocked out by Serra he took the hard road in the next fight with Hughes and tried to outwrestle a wrestler. “That shows to me he’s afraid of getting knocked out, so I don’t see him standing and putting away Serra on his feet. “I see this fight going five rounds and being similar to GSP against BJ Penn.” Commenting on his own plight, Fitch believes nobody has worked harder for a title shot than he has. “I’ve paid my dues and I think I should be pretty close to that position. Not many guys go 8-0 in The UFC,” he said. “I’ve fought a lot of tough guys, whether or not the fans know the names, these guys have all been tough b******s. “I asked [match-maker] Joe Silva to give me the toughest guys, because I’m here to find out how good I am; at the end of the day it’s about how I sleep at night. “I don’t care how many people kiss my ass and tell me I’m great…I just think I deserve a title shot.”

Tim Boetsch: Eliminate the Safety Net
(ufc.com)
Stacked. It’s a word that has been used to describe the UFC light heavyweight division as of late. Sure, the influx of new fight talent makes this word true, but its connotations are more explosive than that. Dissect the division and you will see that the talent actually has the odds stacked against them. This much athleticism and hunger creates the best matchups, sealing no one’s fate on the road to the crown. Just when you think you have the division figured out, a Houston Alexander will come and prove that the hunger just entering the league can surpass that already within. This is the new threat that fighters like Tim Boetsch represent. The light heavies are experiencing a restructuring as drastic as housing and loan markets where only one thing is certain, there is no safety net.

You know who he is: exclusive interview with Karo Parisyan
(mmamania.com)

Dana White referred to Jon Fitch’s record-tying eight-fight win streak* and said that “he is in line, right now, for a title shot once the whole Serra-St. Pierre thing is figured out.” Karo Parisyan: Okay. Well … (laughs). It is what it is, bro. I mean, what can I do? I thought I deserved the shot before anybody, but it looks like I gotta prove myself one more time, God willing, with Thiago Alves and then seal the deal with the title shot after that, whether it’s Matt Serra, St. Pierre or Jon Fitch. With such a stacked welterweight division, you seem to be playing the wait game. First we have Serra/GSP at UFC83 in mid-April; and then, assuming Fitch gets a title shot, that likely won’t happen until sometime around August. That might put the next available title shot happening sometime toward the end of 2008. Do you find this frustrating, waiting, if it unfolds like this? Karo Parisyan: Yeah, kinda. I don’t know what I’m going to do. I’d probably have to get a fight in between; I just can’t sit at home and get fat. I don’t know, man. It depends on how this fight goes with Thiago Alves. God willing, if everything goes well and I beat Thiago, and if I have a guaranteed title shot after that, I’m not going to take anymore fights, I’ll just wait for my title shot. But if I have to fight somebody else, I will. So, I don’t know what the UFC is going to throw my way. First, again, like I said, I’m taking one fight at a time. I’m thinking about Thiago right now, and not Fitch, Serra or GSP.

Xyience's bankruptcy proceeding is set to come to a close April 1 with a public auction, but the dispute between dissident shareholders and the company's directors appears to be far from over. Last December shareholders, led by Ronald Soloman, who controls 35 percent of Xyience's outstanding shares by proxy, filed suit against Xyience and its directors for breach of fiduciary duty to the company's shareholders
