UFC Expansion: a Filipino One Two Punch
(mmapayout.com)
As the UFC looks to expand on an international basis, one of the keys to success will be having local fighters that they can market to the populace. All great promotion is done on a local basis, and having home town boys is a sure way to energize their countrymen to turn out in droves for your card. The UFC is ahead of the game in that respect when it comes to The Philippines, a country mentioned on multiple occasions as a site of future expansion efforts for the company.

Brock Lesnar training jiu-jitsu with Rodrigo Comprido for UFC 87 Heath Herring fight
(mmamania.com)
Quoteworthy: “It is not enough that Brock Lesnar is a freak of nature with a physique that few can match, and have top trainers around like Greg Nelson (Black Belt under Pedro Sauer) & Marty Morgan (University of Minnesota Wrestling Coach). Noooo, Lesnar is taking his MMA training so seriously that he contracted multiple times BJJ World Absolute Champion Rodrigo “Comprido” to add to his preparation team. Comprido is spending time at the Minnesota Martial Arts Academy, adding his personal touch to Lesnar’s training as he prepares to fight in UFC 87 against Heath Herring. Comprido’s MMA training is in high demand especially coming off a super-successfull participation of his TEAM FLOMMA in the Adrenalin show.”

TUF 7 Finale Preview
(cpcmovies.com)
The Ultimate Fighter has revolutionized mixed martial arts world. If I would have told you three years ago that we’d be wrapping up the seventh installment of the show with the sport bigger and better than it’s ever been before, then you might have called me crazy. But that’s exactly what has happened. The sport is near the top of the sports world – yet nowhere near its peak – and a ton of eyes will be on the little town of Las Vegas this weekend as another Ultimate Fighter is crowned to join the ever-growing list of Diego Sanchez, Forrest Griffin, Joe Stevenson, Rashad Evans, Michael Bisping, Kendall Grove, Matt Serra, Travis Lutter, Nate Diaz, and Mac Danzig. Below is your full breakdown of all of the fights on the card.

UFC Expansion: Priortizing A Must
(mmapayout.com)
Many have blamed the UFC's failures in fighter relationship management and merchandising on a UFC management team that was simply stretched too thin. Thus, yesterday's news that Lorenzo Fertita is moving over to the UFC in order to help facilitate the organization's international expansion can only be seen as a good thing.

Affliction Is Counting On The Power Of DVR
(cagepotato.com)

“As far as I’m concerned, people are going to Tivo (the UFC show) and watch our fight, and then go back to (watch UFC) later,” he said. “Obviously you’re going to get those people who are going to watch something for free (rather) than pay. … But our card is definitely stacked. I don’t know anybody that can say it’s not a great card.”
that’s a valid strategy as it relates to hardcore fans. We’ll see whether it will work on those people we always hear about who only know the UFC. Atencio is right when he says the card is stacked, though it’s stacked largely with fighters who appeal to that hardcore fan base and much less so to the casual fan, who may or may not have heard the name Fedor at any time in his life. Their success with this show — particularly with the UFC going up against them on Spike TV — could tell us a lot about the actual interest level in MMA as a sport, rather than simply the UFC as a brand.

CB Dolloway Interview
(mmarated.com)
On Saturday night, Amir Sadollah and CB Dolloway will fight for the right to be crowned “The Ultimate Fighter 7” winner. MMARated.com’s Ariel Helwani spoke with Dolloway to get his thoughts on receiving a second chance at the contract as well as Sadollah. Ariel Helwani: First off, congratulations on making it to the finals even though it might not have been the route you expected. More to that point, where were you when you found out that you were being given a second chance? CB Dolloway: Las Vegas. Actually, [UFC President] Dana [White] had us call back up there, me and Tim Credeur. We were talking about just having a meeting. We didn’t know why we were coming back up there and basically, I thought I was the only one who got called back up and as I am walking in, I see Tim walking in out of another car into the UFC Training Center so I figured something was up at that point.

On the main card of "The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale," Sanchez (21-2) takes on another fighter looking for a second straight win, Luigi Fioravanti (14-3), out of the American Top Team in Coconut Creek, Florida.

Dana White on Opie and Anthony
(foundrymusic.com)
Check out Dana's interview this morning with Opie and Anthony here. The interview actually goes a decent length, and even though there are bits and pieces of Dana repeating the same talking points we've heard a thousand times, there are some really funny bits. The highlight for sure is Dana talking about his neighbor that doesn't like his pool cabana.

Dana White on Anderson Silva's Move to 205
(bloodyelbow.com)
ESPN has the preview for tomorrow's episode of MMA Live posted, and it's basically a Dana White soliloquy on Anderson Silva. Oh, and of course a little promotion for the July 19th show; notice how he made sure to get a "for free" in there: Anderson Silva is, uh, is-- you know, when I always talk about "real fighters," this guy is, is definitely a real fighter.

Dana White Couldn't Do It Alone
(bloodyelbow.com)
My comments about Lorenzo Fertitta yesterday were not well received to say the least. Let me elaborate a little bit and clarify what I meant when I said Lorenzo coming about "wasn't good for Dana." First off, I think its a great move for the UFC/Zuffa. Its a sign that the Fertittas see the UFC as a major part of their business empire, not just a hobby to be managed by their old high school buddy Dana White. And secondly, Dana might not be going anywhere. His old role as king of the UFC and American MMA in general might be unchanged. He always answered to the Fertittas, now he'll just more supervision and support from Lorenzo each and every day.

Jesse Taylor: "I just spiraled out of control"
(mmajunkie.com)
Jesse Taylor, "The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rampage vs. Team Forrest" finalist who was kicked out of the competition due to a drunken, post-show Las Vegas rampage, says he has since cut alcohol out of his life. Taylor discussed the situation in a video interview for SpikeTV.com, and in it, he says that when the show's producers flew him back to Las Vegas, he was told it was for a follow-up interview. Instead, UFC president Dana White broke the news that Taylor had been kicked out of the UFC and that he would be replaced in a June 21 finale fight with Amir Sadollah.
