Joe Duffy ‘definitely going to test free agency,’ but ‘would gladly’ re-sign with UFC for right deal 39
(mmafighting.com)
Joe Duffy will be the latest UFC fighter to test free agency. The 29-year-old Irish lightweight completed the final fight of his UFC deal on Saturday at UFC Fight Night 107, soundly defeating Reza Madadi to cap off a sterling 4-1 Octagon run. And just days afterward, Duffy confirmed what many observers within the mixed martial arts world already suspected: he intends to see what kind of opportunities await him on the open market.

UFC lightweights Marc Diakiese, Paul Felder trade Twitter barbs, fight seems inevitable
(mmajunkie.com)
Two of the UFC’s most exciting lightweights seem pretty close to a fight, if Twitter is any gauge. The recently victorious Marc Diakiese (12-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) and Paul Felder (13-3 MMA, 5-2 UFC) today exchanged unpleasantries on social media. Diakiese said he’s now working to put them in the octagon soon. It all started at the post-event press conference for this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 107, where Diakiese pulled off a highlight reel knockout of Teemu Packalen in just 30 seconds, winning a $50,000 “Performance of the Night” bonus for his efforts.

Vitor Belfort Suggest CM Punk For Retirement Fight
(cagepotato.com)
CM Punk seems to be the walking punch line of the UFC (well, besides the GSP vs. Michael Bisping fight), so it seems completely appropriate that former light heavyweight champion Vitor Belfort would use him as the butt of his. As we all know, Vitor came off of a less than stellar performance Saturday night, losing via 1st round TKO against middleweight newcomer Kelvin Gastelum. Although Vitor had some early success, Kelvin’s crisp boxing skills and constant pressure proved too much for the Pride veteran. In a recent interview with Flocombat, Vitor announced that he was tired of facing the murders row of UFC opponents and wanted a much “smoother fight.”

UFC’s Viscardi Andrade suspended two years by USADA after testing positive for steroid
(mmafighting.com)
A former Ultimate Fighter Brazil castmate has been hit with a doping ban. Viscardi Andrade, a UFC welterweight, has been suspended two years by USADA for testing positive for the anabolic steroid stanozolol and its metabolites, per a release sent out by USADA on Tuesday. Andrade’s suspension is retroactive to March 20, 2016, so he’ll be able to return to the Octagon in March 2018. Andrade, 33, failed a drug test for the banned substance stemming from a sample collected March 7, 2016. That was actually 13 days before his fight with Richard Walsh at UFC Fight Night 85 in Brisbane, Australia, but the results did not come back until after the bout. The UFC announced the potential anti-doping policy violation on April 12, 2016, saying that Andrade’s sample was analyzed at the WADA-accredited lab in Rio de Janeiro. WADA actually suspended its accreditation of that Rio lab in June, only to reinstate it in July before the 2016 Summer Olympics in the city.

People with knowledge of the matchup told MMAjunkie the fight is in the works. They spoke on the condition of anonymity since the potential bout hasn’t been signed or formally announced. Additionally, Hunt is currently under a medical suspension, which runs until April 19, due to a leg injury he suffered in a knockout loss to Alistair Overeem at UFC 209 earlier this month. He’ll first need medical clearance before signing a bout agreement.

Why a Mayweather vs. McGregor type fight never happened historically, and why it can happen now
(mmafighting.com)
Dana White's latest revelation, that a proposed Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Conor McGregor fight will probably happen, besides being a quick about-face from what he was saying just days earlier, speaks more to modern technology's ability to drive so much revenue on a singular night than anything else. It's been roughly 11 years since the UFC was able to hang with boxing, and eventually surpass boxing (except for rare superfights) as a consistent pay-per-view draw. From that point, the idea of a true top drawing boxer vs. top drawing UFC fighter would have always been a big one-night money grab. But there was a logical reason it would never happen, aside from when the past-his-prime James Toney faced Randy Couture. It's the same reason that for the last 100 years similar matches with the biggest boxer of any given era against the biggest wrestling star of any given era never took place...
