Emelianenko team: More to MMA than UFC
(content.usatoday.com)
The difficulties that the Ultimate Fighting Championship has in trying to sign Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko can be traced back to one prevailing attitude among his management team. "The UFC won't be able to control the whole world," said Vadim Finkelstein, the president of Emelianenko's main promoter, M-1 Global.

WEC AND UFC BACK-TO-BACK LIKELY IN FUTURE
(mmaweekly.com)
It’s not especially convenient logistically for Zuffa, LLC, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship and World Extreme Cagefighting, to have the two promotions running events on back-to-back nights, but it makes for an enticing weekend of mixed martial arts for fans.

Stephan Bonnar ready to erase memory of Mark Coleman loss, would happily fight Tito Ortiz
(mmajunkie.com)
We've all heard the rumors of Tito Ortiz's possible return to the UFC. UFC light heavyweight Stephan Bonnar has heard them, too. Bonnar, who recently dropped a unanimous decision to Mark Coleman at UFC 100, today told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) he doesn't have an upcoming fight scheduled, but he's certainly willing to head the welcome wagon for "The Huntington Beach Bad Boy's" potential return to the octagon.

UFC Quick Quote: ‘Relaxed’ Forrest Griffin hoping to make contact on August 8
(mmamania.com)
“I don’t know if you’re going to get Anderson out of his game. He’s a cool, calm, relaxed guy. Very focused. He seems to have a good plan for every fight and sticks to it. I think what you can’t do is be a big slow guy that follows him around. (You can’t) be too aggressive about trying to attack him..."

UFC 101: Josh Neer is ’sick of fighting guys who want to hit and run’
(mmamania.com)
“I’m expecting a tough fight. He’s well-rounded a lot like I am, but I think he’s more like a Jiu Jitsu guy more than a standup guy. I think he will stand a little bit to set up his shots to take me down. I think it has the potential to [be fight of the night]. I think this fight could be over in the first round..."

Los Angeles Times Reporter Sticks to Fedor Emelianenko Report
(mma.fanhouse.com)
For a brief moment on Tuesday, the MMA world held its collective breath when news broke that Fedor Emelianenko and the UFC were "finalizing" a deal. Lance Pugmire of the Los Angeles Times reported on the newspaper's Web site that a deal between both sides "is expected to be announced by UFC President Dana White on Friday." However, several hours later, M-1 Global's Apy Echteld told SI.com's Josh Gross, "I can give you a guarantee it's not accurate." Pugmire, however, is standing by his story. Kind of.

Quinton Jackson Feels Threatened by Rashad Evans
(mmamania.com)
So says, not surprisingly, Rashad Evans. In recent comments to FightHype on filming of TUF 10, Evans said the two were basically Tito Ortiz & Ken Shamrock all the time they were together in terms of wanting to get their hands on each other and Rashad thought Rampage felt threatened by him.

Dan Cramer and the Virtue of Patience
(ufc.com)
If anyone can attest to the old adage that good things come to those who wait, it’s Dan Cramer. When last we saw him, The Ultimate Fighter 7 alum was finally gearing up for his first professional MMA fight against Matt Arroyo at January’s UFC 94. A formal debut, which was years in the making, was first delayed by school commitments, then by sanctioning issues in local shows, and finally by a broken – and then re-broken – collarbone that kept Cramer out of commission for almost four months.

Editor's Note by SC: Not ten minutes after I posted this article, the Los Angeles Times reported that Fedor will be announced as signed by the UFC on Friday. This could be more real than I expected: A long-awaited agreement between the Ultimate Fighting Championship and the man considered the world's best mixed martial arts fighter, Fedor Emelianenko, is expected to be announced by UFC President Dana White on Friday, a source with information about the negotiations told The Times today.

Anderson Silva To Retire From MMA After UFC Contract Is Complete, Will Box Roy Jones Jr.
(mmaforreal.com)
"It is undoubted that I will face Roy Jones. We have talked too much, have signed some contracts and we want to make it the sooner the better. It’s not for money or spotlight, it’s for my desire. Before that UFC is my focus. Dana treats me very well, as do all the staff of the organization. However I have to search what is better for myself. The UFC middleweight champion says he is "very satisfied with my results [in the UFC] and I want to continue this way until the end of my contract".

SOTIROPOULOS FACES TEAMMATE AT UFC 101
(mmaweekly.com)
Less than a month ago, lightweight George Sotiropoulos was huffing and puffing alongside George Roop at Xtreme Couture, training for a fight against Rob Emerson at UFC 101. But Emerson sustained a bad cut last Monday and was forced to withdraw from the Aug. 8 fight in Philadelphia, leaving Sotiropoulos without an opponent. Roop was uninjured and un-booked after a decision victory over Dave Kaplan at UFC 98. Gym-mates or not, it was business – Roop was the next target.

ANDERSON SILVA MOVING UP, MOVING ON
(mmaweekly.com)
Weight – whether of the physical sort or the kind that puts pressure on a champion’s shoulders – is not slowing Anderson Silva down. During a media teleconference promoting his upcoming bout with Forrest Griffin at UFC 101, his second trip to light heavyweight, Silva said he could deal with both. On the physical side, it’s easy to see when he trains with regular partners Rafael “Feijao” Calvancante and the Nogueira brothers.
