With no broken bones, Brian Bowles campaigns for shot at UFC champ Dominick Cruz
After an X-ray showed no broken bones in his hands, Brian Bowles is now campaigning for a shot to reclaim a belt. The former WEC bantamweight champion scored a decision victory over Takeya Mizugaki this past weekend at UFC 132. Now, he wants to avenge his only career defeat, which came to current UFC 135-pound champion Dominick Cruz back in early 2010. "Hand is good," Bowles tweeted on Tuesday night. "I want that title shot, I feel I deserve it, and I'm next in line."

Machida took One of Coutures teeth so Sonnen is taking three of his.
As usual nothing but contraversy from mr.Sonnen. here's a quote: "I would ask for an easy fight," Sonnen said tounge in cheek. "Or I'd ask for somebody that's just not very good. I always hear these guys saying that they want the hardest fights possible. Well I don't. I'm a fan of easy fights. That's why I called Anderson (Silva) out. Because he sucks. "I guess I could go up to heavyweight. Who's this other bum that their letting back in with the checkered shorts? Cro Cop? That be a nice night off." and later "Hey Wanderlei, let me give you a threat. I will cut the power to your house and do a home invasion. You will hear me climbing up the stairs in a pair of night vision goggles I bought in the back of 'Solder of Fortune' magazine. The next thing you'll hear is me picking the lock of your bedroom door and taking a photograph of you in bed with the Nogueira brothers working on your jiu-jitsu. I will post said photograph at www.DorksFromBrazil.com with password: not required, username: not required.

Report: Charles Oliveira vs. Joe Lauzon likely at UFC 138
After a No Contest against Nik Lentz, Brazilian lightweight Charles “do Bronx’s” Oliveira is expected to return to the UFC cage at November 19th, against fellow submission specialist Joe Lauzon. According to Oliveira’s trainer, the bout is expected to take place at UFC 138. “They spoke about a possible rematch (against Nik Lentz), but he’ll have to go under surgery, so the opponent might be Joe Lauzon”, Ericson Cardozo told TATAME Tuesday night.

UFC names top five Octagon newcomers for 2011 half-year awards
Ah, yes. Another top five list. With 2011 halfway through, it's time to roll out some typical mid-year awards. Filler? Maybe. Fun? Most definitely. The subject of this particular list (courtesy of UFC.com), is UFC newcomers. It's an important distinction to make that this is not a reference to "Zuffa newcomers" or even "MMA newcomers" -- quite simply, the qualifier is that 2011 has to be the only year a participant has finally seen competition inside the Octagon.

Maynard still not cleared to fight; Edgar rep says champ could be ready by October
For now, UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar has a leg up on Gray Maynard – in the recovery room. Edgar has been cleared to fight and is ready to compete in October, manager Ali Abdul Aziz today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). Maynard, meanwhile, has yet to receive the all-clear to begin a camp that would prepare him for a highly anticipated rematch with the lightweight champ. "Right now, we're still waiting for him to be cleared by the doctor," said Gil Martinez, Maynard's boxing coach. "Hopefully, it happens this week."

Wanderlei Silva is ashamed of getting knocked out by Chris Leben and he wants a rematch
Knocked out in 27 seconds? For shame. Wanderlei Silva is feeling it, too, a couple days removed from his stunning knockout loss at the hands of Chris Leben at UFC 132 on July 2 in Las Vegas. He admits as much on his Twitter (via Tatame): "I cried, I thought a lot of ****, and now I'm ashamed and only think in one thing now: I want a rematch."

Sean Sherk is almost out of the woods. The former lightweight champ today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the injuries which caused him to put his career on hold are lessening – to the point where he's back in the gym. And he now has a timeframe for return. If all continues to go well, Sherk (34-4-1 MMA, 8-4 UFC) said a fight in the fall against a top contender – and a top contender only – is his wish.

REPORT: Spike has given up on UFC
A source at Spike, speaking on the condition of anonymity, indicated that the company has essentially abandoned any notion of a new deal with the UFC, since it believes the UFC is "very close to a deal with G4." "They want their own channel, and this is an opportunity for their own channel," the source said. As for the Spike counter programming moves, it's "pretty obvious why we're doing what we're doing," the source said, but it hasn't resulted in any animosity between UFC and Spike employees. "We're all just doing our jobs," said the source.

Chael Sonnen Returns to 205lbs, Faces Lyoto Machida at UFC 136 in Houston
A fight between Chael Sonnen and Lyoto Machida is all but a done deal. Sources close to the situation tell Fighters Only that Sonnen will be making his UFC return at light-heavyweight and is almost certain to face the Brazilian former champion. The fight is apparently being considered for UFC 136, which takes place on October 8th in Houston, Texas. No fights have been announced for that card but Jose Aldo and Kenny Florian are expected to headline. Machida is a fighter that Sonnen has long had his eye on, and not just because he is a training partner and friend of Sonnen’s favourite smack-talk target Anderson Silva. Let the discussions begin!

Officials recently confirmed the broadcast plans with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). UFC Targeting February 26, 2012, at Saitama Super Arena for Japan Show
Just last week, UFC president Dana White mentioned that the UFC would be heading to Japan sooner rather than later. Now it appears the promotion has targeted a tentative date and venue. According to sources speaking to MMAWeekly.com on Sunday, UFC officials are looking at a Feb. 26, 2012, date in Japan with the show currently targeted for the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama. While the venue has been reserved by agencies working with Zuffa in Japan, this is still just the preliminary location they are focusing on for a return to Japan. Other venues and locations are being looked at, but Saitama Super Arena is currently the most likely landing spot.

Urijah Faber Feels He Earned The Win At UFC 132
The fight was everything you could want from a championship bout, both men came to throw down, never gave up ground and never let the other hold much of an appreciable lead for long. It was thrilling and they were both rightly awarded the Fight of the Night bonus, but, though he has a fatter wallet and plenty to be proud of, Faber still believes his name should have been read the victor when the judges rendered their decision.

Chael Sonnen Doesn't Want To Be The Next Man To KO Wanderlei Silva
Helwani asked Sonnen if he was surprised by the quick finish and Sonnen took the opportunity to get at least one more verbal jab in at Silva's expense. "Yeah," responded Sonnen. "The only guy that would have finished him quicker was me. …Wanderlei is going to need to do something else. I don't have any interest in getting in there with him. I don't want to be the next guy to force him to have a flashlight shined in his eyes."

Ortiz Calls Out Griffin Following UFC 132 Triumph
Tito Ortiz pulled his professional career off of life support Saturday night by submitting young gun Ryan Bader with a first-round guillotine choke at UFC 132. Following the triumph at the MGM Granden Arena in Las Vegas, an exuberant Ortiz called out a familiar foe as the man he would like to face in his next Octagon appearance. Though “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” would also like a shot at redemption against Rashad Evans in the future, Ortiz first wants a rematch with another former champ: Forrest Griffin.

UFC brass says Demetrious Johnson could take title shot over Brian Bowles
LAS VEGAS – It's the inevitable question that surfaces each and every time a UFC champion wraps a belt around his waist: What's next? And so it was for Dominick Cruz (18-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) following his UFC 132 victory former WEC featherweight champ Urijah Faber. Many MMA pundits pointed to former WEC champ Brian Bowles (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) as the leading candidate to snag the next shot at the 135-pound belt, but UFC brass said that's not necessarily the case.

UFC boss says Condit one of the divisions best, "Natural Born Killer" not waiting for title shot
LAS VEGAS – With his second-straight "Knockout of the Night" victory, former WEC welterweight champion Carlos Condit (26-5 MMA, 4-1 UFC) is quickly becoming a top contender in the UFC's 170-pound division. Saturday night's UFC 132 event featured a host of incredible knockout victories, but UFC president Dana White deemed Condit's first-round finish of Dong Hyun Kim the best of the bunch, awarding him the bonus and declaring him "one of the best 170-pounders in the world." But with UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre not scheduled to defend his title until late October, Condit isn't interesting in sitting around waiting for a title shot. Instead, he wants to get back in the octagon and cement his position in the division.

White supports Siver's UFC 132 win; Bieber, Fertitta felt Wiman rightful victor
LAS VEGAS – It just wouldn't be a UFC pay-per-view event if we didn't get to enjoy at least one hotly contested decision, right? At Saturday night's UFC 132 event in Las Vegas, that honor fell to Dennis Siver (19-7 MMA, 8-4 UFC) and Matt Wiman (13-6 MMA, 7-4 UFC), who battled toe-to-toe for 15 minutes in a back-and-forth affair. All three judges ultimately awarded the victory to Siver, and UFC president Dana White said after the event that he agreed with the call. However, White admitted UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta – not to mention mop-haired teen pop star Justin Bieber – believe Wiman may have been jobbed.
