Ed Soares: Anderson Silva Didn't Get Elbow Surgery
(bloodyelbow.com)
I spoke to Ed Soares, Silva's manager, and contrary to published reports, Silva has not had surgery on his elbow and is not in any way incapable of fighting in November if he's offered a fight. Soares said he hasn't spoken to Silva about fighting Couture yet, and stressed that such a fight has never been discussed with the UFC. But he did say, "Anderson wants to fight the biggest and the best fighters out there and Randy Couture falls into that category. After Anderson saw the way he fought Rodrigo Nogueira, he said he became an even bigger Randy Couture fan."

Dan Hardy plans to make UFC welterweights uncomfortable on Nov. 14.
(mmamania.com)
“Kim will want to take me down with his judo and bash me up on the ground, but every time he gets close he will eat an elbow or knee in the face. I don’t want a decision, I guarantee a knockout in this one. I plan to put a beating on this guy that is so nasty and so one-sided it will be uncomfortable viewing for all the other welterweights in the UFC. I am going to beat him up for a while and then I will catch him with something that really hurts him — then he’ll go to sleep.”

Kimbo Slice Has Low Hurdle to Clear for Big Reward on The Ultimate Fighter 10
(bloodyelbow.com)
It's a cruel hard world out there and the reality is that Kimbo Slice is good for business. Dana White has shrewdly put himself in a no lose position by booking Kimbo on The Ultimate Fighter. At a minimum he will get blockbuster ratings for the early episodes, the longer they can keep him from being exposed, the better. Anyone want to bet that Kimbo won't fight until the third or fourth episode of the show? And if Kimbo manages to score a win, especially a convincing KTFO win, the Kimbo hype train will begin to choo choo down the tracks.

A light heavyweight clash between fast-rising prospects Matt Hamill (7-2 MMA, 6-2 UFC) and Jon Jones (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) is expected to feature prominently at The Ultimate Fighter 10 Finale in December. Maynard's got the plan to beat Huerta
(mmaweekly.com)
"As the lightweight division awaits the next title defense by champion B.J. Penn in December, the list of contenders is constantly growing. The choice for the next top 155-pound contender could be crowned on Sept. 16 when Gray Maynard goes for his sixth win in a row when he faces Roger Huerta at UFC Fight Night 19 in Oklahoma. Maynard’s string of wins includes victories over Frankie Edgar, Jim Miller, and Rich Clementi. He's hoping to tack Huerta onto the list in what could be the budding actor’s final fight with the UFC. It's no secret that Huerta has expressed his desire to venture onto the silver screen and the fight against Maynard is the last on his current fight contract." I like Maynard a lot. This sound be a good fight.

UFC 105: Terry Etim vs. Shannon Gugerty possible for Nov. 14
(mmamania.com)
Unheralded but tough lightweights Terry Etim (13-2) and Shannon Gugerty (12-3) are penciled in to throw leather in a 155-pound match up at UFC 105 from the Manchester Evening News (MEN) Arena in Manchester, England, on Nov. 14, according to Fighter’s Only magazine. Etim has looked sharp in his three most recent performances inside the Octagon, submitting Justin Buchholz with a brabo choke at UFC 99: “The Comeback,” knocking Brian Cobb senseless with a head kick at UFC 95: “Sanchez vs. Stevenson” and outpointing Sam Stout on all three judges scorecards at UFC 89: “Bisping vs. Leben.”

Frank Mir to add more strength to go with his technique
(mmamania.com)
“In the fight with Brock, I really felt there was a huge difference in strength and power. Being 245, I just don’t think I’ll ever be able to compete with him at that weight…. One area of my game I’m really lacking at is physical power. Just training, lifting heavy weights, being explosive, being a powerful athlete…. I’m going to go back to drawing board, I’m going to win two, three fights in a row and get a rematch against him. And I don’t have to sit here and complain about it, I’ll get an opportunity to get locked in a cage with him and show him what I felt about [his post-fight antics].”

Ortiz: Hopefully Chuck can dance better than he can fight
(mmabay.co.uk)
Tito Ortiz has launched a scathing attack on long time rival, Chuck Liddell, saying “The Iceman’s” career is over and that he hopes he can dance better than he fights. When asked about the recent comments Liddell made about Ortiz needing a win or two under his belt to make him relevant enough to face again inside the octagon, Ortiz said: “That’s kinda funny. I think he needs to get a couple of wins under his belt also. I think he’s been knocked out four of his last five fights. I’ve never been knocked out unconscious in any of my fights in my whole career in the last thirteen years so for him to say those words is like calling the kettle black.

Pyle intends better showing in UFC return
(mmaweekly.com)
When asked if he was underprepared for his Ultimate Fighting Championships debut at UFC 98 this past may, Mike “Quicksand” Pyle responded in his usual direct approach, “A week’s notice and 23 pounds overweight, you tell me.” Indeed, stepping in for an injured Chris Wilson just days from the show to face the always tough Brock Larson proved to Pyle’s undoing, as he was submitted half way through round one. Pyle explains, while he would have liked more time to prepare for such a big fight, the opportunity to join the UFC was just too important to his career to pass up.

Koscheck gets back to basics to face Trigg
(mmaweekly.com)
For one of the most active fighters in the UFC, the last 7 months have been tough on Josh Koscheck not being able to fight, but he'll get his wish on Sept 19 when he welcomes former top welterweight contender, Frank Trigg, back to the Octagon when the two square off at UFC 103 in Dallas. Following a tough loss to Paulo Thiago in February, Koscheck was slated to get back in action in May, but a broken bone in his foot forced him out of his scheduled fight. The time off did give the former NCAA champion a chance to open his new gym, American Kickboxing Academy of Fresno, and get back to the core training that made him the athlete that impressed everyone during the first season of the "Ultimate Fighter."

John Howard vs. Dennis Hallman in the works for UFC 106 in Las Vegas
(mmajunkie.com)
Welterweight Dennis Hallman's (41-12-2 MMA, 1-3 UFC) first opponent in his return to the UFC has been determined, and "Superman" has agreed to meet John Howard (12-4 MMA, 2-0 UFC) at UFC 106. So I guess it's probably not going to be Hughes then....lame.
