UFC on FX 3's Erick Silva says quick fights prepared him for Charlie Brenneman
Fighters are divided on whether quick fights are a good thing inside the octagon. Some would like to earn every penny of their purse and pick up a few lessons on the way. Others want to take the money and run. In two UFC fights, Erick Silva has spent a combined 69 seconds inside the cage. To him, that's almost perfect. "My first two fights in the UFC were very important," he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) through translator and Strikeforce light heavyweight Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante. "They made me more confident for this next fight."

Hector Lombard's new UFC game plan: Beat Boetsch, fight 'complainers,' go for title
Hector Lombard (31-2-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) is understandably disappointed about swapping a headliner with Brian Stann for a main-card fight with Tim Boetsch (15-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC). "But it's not the end of the world," Lombard today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). Give him a fight with Michael Bisping after he presumably beats Boetsch, and he'll be a happy man, he said. "There are complainers out there, like Bisping," Lombard said. "He's not happy that I'm getting the title shot. So I need to fight all these complainers first."

UFC 149's Nick Ring breaks up mugging, helps Calgary police apprehend attackers
UFC middleweight Nick Ring doesn't consider himself any type of vigilante, but he refuses to sit idly by and watch innocent people fall prey to thuggery. And so it was on Wednesday night, when "The Promise" happened upon a pair of victims being beaten by an assailing group of 10 youngsters who Ring asserts "probably thought they were way tougher than they really are." While Ring is busy preparing for a UFC 149 rematch with Court McGee, for him the choice to get involved was a no-brainer.

Kim Winslow admitted there was no verbal submission from John Albert
"Gerry Rodriguez: Did Kim Winslow say anything after the fight? Did she come over and say, "Sorry, I blew it," any type of interaction? John Albert: No, none at all. There was nothing at all. All I know was the story of I grunted trying to get out of the armbar, she stopped it, I kept yelling "I didn't tap, I didn't tap!" and she said, "You verbally tapped," and I yelled, "No I didn't, no I didn't!" and Dennis Hallman, being the good coach that he is, went in and started yelling at her and after the fight brought her down to the commission and said, "Explain to me what happened? He didn't tap" and she goes, "Well he didn't verbally tap. I was afraid for his arm." Those were her exact words in front of the commission. It's however they want to take it."

Roy Nelson calls out winner of Cheick Kongo vs Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera fight at UFC 149
The always entertaining and pudgy pugilist Roy Nelson breezed through Dave Herman at UFC 146 on May 26, 2012, with a 51-second knockout that showed the reason(s) "Big Country" is a tough draw for any Heavyweight. It marked a big win that got him back on track after losing to Fabricio Werdum in a hard fought battle at UFC 143 three months prior. Now, after barely breaking a sweat against "Pee Wee" in Las Vegas, Nevada, Nelson says he wouldn't mind getting back into the mix of things as long as it's a "money" fight. And he already has a few people in mind. Here is what he told Sherdog: "I just want a money fight. But if not, I've always wanted to fight [Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira]. I'll take the winner out of Big Nog and Cheick Kongo. I'd love that fight. Of course JDS, Frank [Mir]. There's so many out there. I'll even take the little black guy on the UFC roster where it says TBA. Because if you're in the UFC, you're the best in the world. You can fight that guy and be the next title contender. Brock did it."

UFC 149: Bisping Out, Lombard In vs Boetsch
UFC 149 and UFC on FOX 4 have swapped stars after another pair of injuries shook up the summer fight scene today. British middleweight Michael Bisping has been injured and is out of his UFC 149 bout against rising force Tim Boetsch. Stepping in to meet "The Barbarian" will be Hector Lombard, a former Cuban Olympian who rides a 25-fight unbeaten streak into his Octagon debut. Lombard had been slated to fight Brian Stann in the main event of UFC on FOX 4 in August, but was left opponentless earlier today after Stann was forced to withdraw due to injury.

UFC 146 Does More Than 500,000 PPV Buys While UFC On FX Ratings Continue Decline
Dave Meltzer's Wrestling Observer is generally the best source for PPV buys, and this week's Wrestling Observer had some info on how UFC 146 did. The card was decimated by injuries and wasn't the star-studded event that was originally expected, but it seems like it still did okay in terms of buys

Tito Ortiz On Dana White: 'I Know He'll Never Forgive Me'
Tito Ortiz will face off with Forrest Griffin for the third time at UFC 148 on July 7th in what will probably be his swansong in MMA. He seems to want to go out on good terms, doing a lot of reminiscing about the past and the things he might have done differently. He continued that in an interview with Fight Magazine, where he addressed his relationship with UFC president (and former manager) Dana White

Evolving Neer takes new approach to lay-and-prayers ahead of UFC on FX 3
Josh Neer (33-10-1 MMA, 6-6 UFC) has gotten over his hatred of so-called "lay and pray" artists. Now, he's just determined to stop them – and punch them in the face. That's the plan against his next opponent, Mike Pyle (22-8-1 MMA, 5-3 UFC), who he believes will try to take him down when they meet at UFC on FX 3, which takes place Friday at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. The welterweight matchup airs live on FX as part of the evening's main card. Preliminary matchups air on FUEL TV and stream on Facebook. Two days out from the fight, Neer has heard that Pyle might be lingering in catchweight territory. "I heard he's heavy right now, so I think he's going to try to play the big man to smaller man," Neer today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "But I'm prepared for that."

UFC on FX 3's Mike Pierce combing Florida fast-food chains in search of Thiago Alves
Oregon's Mike Pierce (13-5 MMA, 5-3 UFC) already has one Brazilian opponent on his mind in Carlos Eduardo Rocha, but that isn't stopping him from taking dead aim at another. Pierce, who's in South Florida for this week's UFC on FX 3 event, where he takes on Rocha on the evening's preliminary card, said he's spending his spare time trying to track down a local resident. "I've actually been looking for Thiago Alves," Pierce told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio). "I hit up all the fast-food joints in the area. I know he lives in town, and I haven't been able to find him."

Garcia not promising technical fight but vows to show improvement at UFC on FX 3
For all of the ups and downs Leonard Garcia (15-8-1 MMA, 2-4 UFC) has endured in a brawl-filled 13-year MMA career, he's never before had to deal with two straight losses. So after back-to-back defeats to Nam Phan and Chan Sung Jung, Garcia was forced to go back to the drawing board. And while it seems everyone's suggestion for Garcia is to brawl less and look to take a more technical approach to fighting, "Bad Boy" said he's not entirely sure that's in his nature. Instead, Garcia said there's a long-forgotten part of his game that he's going to bring back to light.

UFC on FX 3 headliner Ian McCall says controversy, underdog status good for business
For the first time in his life, Ian McCall (11-2-1 MMA, 0-0-1 UFC) is that guy on the giant poster, and perhaps in the place he'd have least expected it: the Sawgrass Mills mall. Strolling through the place on Tuesday to get a sweatsuit, a few people saw his magnificently manicured mustache on display for Friday's "UFC on FX 3: Johnson vs. McCall." Such surprises are fun and a little surreal for the fighter, who less than a year ago was a regional hero in a virtually invisible division.

Mauricio 'Shogun' Rua vs. Brandon Vera to Headline UFC on FOX 4
Jun 6, 2012 - With Brian Stann out of the UFC on FOX 4 main event, the UFC has scrapped the idea of a middleweight headliner. Instead, the promotion has turned to its former light-heavyweight champion, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, who will face Brandon Vera as the anchor to the show, scheduled for August 4 in Los Angeles. The five-round matchup was confirmed on Wednesday night, with the promotion saying that verbal agreements were in place. Stann had been expected to fight the debuting Hector Lombard, but withdrew on Wednesday, citing an injured shoulder. The UFC didn't wait long in finding its replacement. Rua (20-6) will be competing for the first time since his November 2011 classic against Dan Henderson, a fight which he lost by decision. He's split his last six fights. He had been scheduled to fight at UFC 149, but after losing his own opponent, Thiago Silva, due to injury, accepted the opportunity to move to the new date. Vera had also penciled into a fight, lined up to face James Te Huna in July before the UFC reshuffled the deck.

Brian Stann injured, out of UFC on FOX 4 headliner with Hector Lombard
August's UFC on FOX 4 event needs a new headliner. Middleweight Brian Stann (12-4 MMA, 6-3 UFC) is out of his scheduled five-round middleweight headliner with promotional newcomer Hector Lombard (31-2-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) due to an injury. A source close to the event today confirmed the scratch with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com), though the UFC has made no official announcement. UFC on FOX 4 takes place Aug. 4 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The event's main card airs live on FOX while prelims go to FUEL TV and Facebook. It was not immediately clear if Lombard, the reigning Bellator middleweight champion and a recent UFC import, will remain on the card and in the night's network-televised main event...

Greg Jackson Backs UFC Champ Jon Jones, Says ‘He’s Trying to do the Right Thing’
UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones smashed his car into a pole in the early morning hours of May 19 in Binghamton, N.Y. He was arrested under suspicion of DWI, for which he later plead guilty, accepting a plea bargain. While fan reaction has been mixed, Jones has received support from his manager, Malki Kawa, and his boss, UFC president Dana White. The latest addition to the list of those that continue to publicly back Jones is his coach, Greg Jackson, who recently addressed the issue on HDNet’s InsideMMA.

Running with the bulls? UFC on FX 3's Charlie Brenneman has other concerns
"The Spaniard" will be taking a trip to Spain soon, but instead of thinking about a bout against bulls, Charlie Brenneman (15-3 MMA, 4-2 UFC) is focusing all his attention on up-and-coming Brazilian welterweight Erick Silva (13-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC). "I don't know if I can say he's overrated because we don't know if he's going to produce or not yet," Brenneman told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) prior to Friday's UFC on FX 3 co-headliner. "His steam is a little ahead of his production. He's definitely got a lot of talent. "Last time I was in this kind of situation, I came out with flying colors, and I hope this goes the same way." UFC on FX 3 takes place Friday at BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla. In addition to the FX-televised main card, FUEL TV and Facebook carry the night's prelims.

UFC 148's Faber on Barao's win streak: Which out of those 28 guys would I have lost to?
UFC bantamweight contender Renan Barao (28-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) currently boasts one of the sport's all-time-best win streaks after downing 28 straight opponents. Worth a mention, says his upcoming opponent, Urijah Faber (26-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC), but "The California Kid" warns against putting too much stock in the gaudy run. "People give Barao a lot of credit for a 28-fight win streak, which is incredible, but which out of those 28 guys would I have lost to?" Faber asked MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "None of them. He's never beat anybody like me, so this is going to to be the biggest test of his life." UFC 148 takes place July 7 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Main-card fights air live on pay-per-view while FX and Facebook are expected to carry the prelims.
