Koscheck Sees Weighty Issues With Johnson
As a collegiate wrestler, Josh Koscheck was well acquainted with the joys of weight cutting.
Koscheck, a former NCAA Division I champion at 174-pounds for Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, says he used to walk around heavy and cut to 163 pounds for several meets.
So the 31-year-old welterweight relates to Anthony Johnson, his opponent at UFC 106 on Saturday
Done Talking,Baroni Says He's Sick Of Losing
Phil Baroni says he’s through talking.
Baroni, 33, is perhaps the best talker in the game. In nine years of fighting, he’s made a career as a quote machine.
Those days are over, he says.
After losing almost as many fights as he’s won, including some of the biggest opportunities given to him, his sole motivation is to beat Amir Sadollah at UFC 106.
That means no dancing, no trash talking... no badass.
UFC 110 To Be PPV In US
Since the initial news of the UFC's upcoming Australian debut and a possible headliner between Wanderlei Silva and Yoshihiro Akiyama, many fans have wondered why the event will be held on a Sunday rather than the traditional Saturday. Now we know why: Because, unfortunately, it will be a PPV in the US. That is according to a source close to UFC, who says UFC 110 won't air for free on Spike.
UFC 105 Medical Suspensions
The UFC has handed out medical suspensions today from UFC 105. Because the event was in England and there is no MMA sanctioning body there, UFC served as the sanctioning body and was thus responsible for handing out the suspensions. 13 fighters in all were suspensed with 4 getting 180 days.
UFC 105 On Spike: 2.9 Million Viewers
The ratings for Saturday's UFC 105 broadcast on Spike have been released. The event did a 1.9 rating and 2.9 million total viewers with a peak of 3.7 million for the Brandon Vera-Randy Couture main event. Although it drew fewer total viewers than Strikeforce on CBS the week before Spike did note that UFC beat SF in virtually all the key men demos.

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Lyoto Machida will once again put his 205-pound title on the line against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua when the Brazilians collide at The Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on April 1, 2010, according to Dan Wetzel from Yahoo!Sports.com.
Here's the snip:

Brock Lesnar Returns Home To Heal
Brock Lesnar has returned home after having surgery for an infection in his intestinal tract.
Larry Novotny, a friend of Lesnar, on Tuesday told ABC affiliate KSAX-TV that the UFC heavyweight champion is recuperating after an 11-day stay in a local hospital where he underwent several tests and “a minor surgery.” Lesnar’s primary home is in Alexandria, Minn.
Novotny said Lesnar may need to undergo further surgery, but would see how the healing process went. At that point, a decision would be made whether Lesnar would be able to continue fighting.
Couture vs. Coleman slated for UFC 109
Randy Couture and Mark Coleman have verbally agreed to a light heavyweight headlining bout at UFC 109 on Feb. 6 in Las Vegas, Sherdog.com has learned through sources close to the bout.
If signed, the bout will mark the first time UFC hall of famers have met in the Octagon. Both former heavyweight champions, Couture was originally slated to face Coleman at UFC 17 in May 1998 in Mobile, Ala., before the four-time Olympic alternate hurt his ribs prepping for that year’s Greco-Roman wrestling Nationals.
Instead, Coleman fought Pete Williams, a then unknown Lion’s Den protégé, and was knocked out with a head kick just past the 12-minute mark. The accomplished wrestlers’ paths did not cross again.
Couture, 46, out-clinched muay Thai striker Brandon Vera to a unanimous decision last Saturday at UFC 105 in Manchester, England. Couture is the only fighter to have held titles in both the UFC’s light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions and was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2006. He is also a two-time Div. I National Championships team member and a two-time NCAA Div. I runner-up for Oklahoma State University.
Coleman, 44, breathed new life into his 13-year career with a unanimous decision victory over 32-year-old “The Ultimate Fighter” finalist Stephan Bonnar at UFC 100 last July in Las Vegas. He was slated to face former 205-pound champion Tito Ortiz at UFC 106 on Nov. 21 in Las Vegas, but withdrew with a slight torn MCL in early October.
Coleman, who was inducted by the UFC in 2008, was Pride Fighting Championships’ first grand prix tournament champion in 2000 and placed seventh in freestyle wrestling at the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. Coleman was an NCAA Div. I champion his senior year at Ohio State University.
The legendary pair wrestled one another in a freestyle match at the 1989 Olympic Festival at Oklahoma State. Coleman won the match by one point.
News is that the UFC has banned Clinch Gear (Dan Henderson's MMA Clothing line) after UFC 105. There was a good amount of Clinch Gear shown throughout the CBS Strikeforce broadcast, but most likely this is the byfactor of failed negotiations between Dan Henderson and the UFC.
There is also a strong rumor that the UFC has banned RVCA after they sponsored Fedor and appeared on the CBS Strikeforce card as well, though the brand has close ties with BJ Penn, so it would definitely be an interesting scenario if the rumor is true.
Update: a well-placed source within the mma apparel industry indicates that they have heard the same as well, regarding RVCA. Will keep you guys updated.
This is why I hate the UFC and Dana White.
Rested St. Pierre well on way back
MANCHESTER, England – Georges St. Pierre, the Ultimate Fighting Championship welterweight champion, is one of the few individuals who can look you in the eye, smile, say that his goal is to become the greatest pound-for-pound fighter of all time, and not have it come across as the slightest bit arrogant.
“My goal is that when I retire, I want to be considered the greatest pound-for-pound fighter in the history of the sport, and to have made a difference in the sport,” St. Pierre (19-2) said.
The Quebec native, who has been sidelined since suffering a torn abductor muscle midway through his July 11 win over Thiago Alves, will return early next year to face Dan Hardy, who defeated Mike Swick via decision on Saturday to earn the title shot.
Belfort/Silva in talks for UFC 109
The highly anticipated UFC middleweight title fight between current champ Anderson Silva and explosive challenger Vitor Belfort is now targeted for UFC 109.
The UFC had originally hoped to feature the contest at UFC 108, but Silva's recovery process from elbow surgery forced a delay in the schedule.
Belfort first released news of the new date to the Portugese-language Terra magazine's "Mano a Mano" blog, and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has since confirmed with sources close to the bout that verbal agreements are in place. Bout agreements have yet to be signed.

Evans-Silva Promoted To UFC 108 Main Event
Assuming they can avoid the injuries, illnesses, and apparent curses that have befelled the 3 matchups before them, Rashad Evans vs. Thiago Silva is the latest fight to be promoted to the main event for UFC 108. The 3 previous planned main events all had to be scrapped due to fighter injuries/illnesses.
