Is Frankie Edgar the most underrated champion in the UFC today?
(mmamania.com)
"I honestly would have to say the most underrated, under-appreciated guy out there is Frankie Edgar. But that might have all changed after his last fight with Gray Maynard. We'll see next time he fights. I think Frankie Edgar is an incredible fighter. I think he's dangerous to everybody at 155-pounds, no matter how much bigger they are than him and even though he could fight at a weight class below (his), I think the kid's a beast."

GSP: 'I Think Anderson Silva Has to Fight Yushin Okami'
(bloodyelbow.com)
"That's not what I said. What I said is it's a complete re-orientation of my career. People are saying crazy stuff, like "Oh, you just have to gain 30 pounds and take the fight and fight him in three months." I can't (gain) 30 pounds in three months. It would take a lot more than that. If I want to go up in weight class." "Plus, (Anderson) Silva fights at light heavyweight as well. So he walks around at … he's probably 40 pounds heavier than I am (off season). So if I fight this fight, it might be at a catch weight. If it happens."

Soszynski Recovering from Surgeries, Eyeing UFC 131 Spot
(sherdog.com)
After having surgery on both knees in January to repair meniscus tears, Krzysztof Soszynski is hoping to return in June. The UFC light heavyweight was seen walking without a limp at the L.A. Fitness Expo just a week after the surgeries. “I guess my pain tolerance is pretty high,” Soszynski said with a laugh during a Sherdog Radio Network interview conducted at the January fitness event. “From what I’ve been told by my doctors after the surgeries, I should be on my feet right away. It’s the best way to get back right off the bat. The very next day I was already walking around the house and moving a little bit. They had me on crutches for about a day or so, 24 hours, but after that I was able to start moving around. I was back in the gym three days later, helping out some of my teammates.” Soszynski said he has talked with the UFC about returning June 11 at UFC 131 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

Georges St. Pierre not in a 'Rush' to fight Anderson Silva at 185 pounds
(mmamania.com)
"It's a complete re-orientation of my career. People are saying crazy stuff, like 'Oh, you just have to gain 30 pounds and take the fight and fight him in three months.' I can't (gain) 30 pounds in three months. It would take a lot more than that if I want to go up in weight class. Plus, (Anderson) Silva fights at light heavyweight as well. So he walks around at … he's probably 40 pounds heavier than I am (off season). So if I fight this fight, it might be at a catch weight. If it happens. It's something I'm not thinking about right now because it's not my number one priority. I've had a lot of success at 170. If I move to 185, I need to talk to my sponsors, my trainers. It's a complete change of life. Do I want to take the risk, maybe yes. Maybe It's going to be a great challenge. Maybe, no. But I have to talk with my trainers ... I have to fight Jake Shields [and] I think Anderson Silva has to fight Yushin Okami. I'm not afraid of nobody in the world. I'm a martial artist. If it happens [with] the right timing and everything, if it is how I want it, and how he wants it. I fight whoever they want. I can fight everyone in the world. I don't mind."

Jon Jones 'hates' when people mention Rashad Evans, who 'has nothing to do with his heart and who he is right now'
(mmamania.com)
"I want to be clear to other reporters, that I absolutely HATE when people mention Rashad Evans, especially throughout this training camp. He's a friend of mine but I'm fighting Mauricio "Shogun," one of the best fighters that's been around for a long time. So for people to even be mentioning Rashad Evans right now, I think, is ludicrous. Rashad is not in my mind, he's not in my being, he has absolutely zero to do with my heart and who I am right now. Right now it's me vs. Jon Jones and right now I'm beating all the weakness out of myself, I'm beating all the give-up out of myself, I'm beating the lack of cardio, I'm beating the lack of confidence; any sign of weakness that's within my heart right now, I'm getting rid of it. The fact that people are bringing up Rashad, it almost angers me. Rashad has nothing to do with "Shogun" and I think from hear on out I won't even answer a question about Rashad."

UFC 128 co-headliners Faber and Wineland open to "TUF 14" coaching slots
(mmajunkie.com)
Bantamweights Urijah Faber and Eddie Wineland say a shot at UFC champ Dominick Cruz takes priority over a coaching slot on the 14th season of "The Ultimate Fighter." But both agree that if the reality show leads them more quickly to contendership, they're all for going in front of the Spike TV cameras. Before any of that happens, Faber and Wineland face off next Saturday in a UFC 128 co-main event they expect will bring the winner a title shot.

UFC 129 Moved Up One Hour; Change to All PPV Start Times Being Considered
(mmafighting.com)
The UFC is quietly contemplating a change to move up the start times of its pay-per-view broadcasts one hour, MMA Fighting has learned. No final decision has yet been made, though a source in the organization confirmed to MMA Fighting that they are "considering the move for all events." Two sources confirmed that at least one date will definitely be impacted. The change will be in play for the first time at April's massive UFC 129 event in Toronto, which will take place on April 30. On that night, the pay-per-view telecast will begin at 9 pm ET/6 pm PT, one hour ahead of its usual time. At least part of the idea, according to sources, is to take advantage of the earlier time to attract more east coast viewers going forward. UPDATE: The new start time is expected to remain in place for future shows, as well, .

Away from MMA competition for nearly three years, UFC heavyweight Heath Herring says he definitely wants to return to the cage -- but only under the right circumstances. Jorge Santiago talks the declining state of MMA in Japan; believes he can beat Anderson Silva
(heavy.com)
"Everyone can see MMA in Japan getting weaker and weaker every year. I never had problems with Sengoku; they always treated me right, they always paid me on time, but I was fighting maybe twice a year, and like I'd always be telling my friends, I've been ranked in the Top 10 and there is no challenge over there."

Frankie Edgar wants overtimes in MMA
(mmajunkie.com)
In this past week's new edition of HDNet's "Inside MMA," MMA legend and show host Bas Rutten addressed a viewer's email that suggested an overtime round be instituted to resolve draws in high-profile bouts such as title contests and No. 1 contender affairs. "They do it at K-1 in Japan, and I love that idea," Rutten said. "Actually, 'The Ultimate Fighter' does it, too. You fight to a draw, boom, the last [round], whoever wins that wins." Edgar, who survived a first-round beatdown against Maynard to battle make to a split draw at UFC 125, was a guest on the new edition of "Inside MMA" and also supported the idea. "I think another five-minute round would be perfect," Edgar said. "You go into a fight, you prepare, and you want a decisive outcome. To have to wait another three months and possibly another fight is kind of annoying. I would say another round would be great. You get to figure out who's the winner right then and there.
