Chuck Liddell speaks out against UFC fighters avoiding the finish just to secure a win
(mmamania.com)
Remember when Chuck Liddell knocked out Renato Sobral with a head kick back in 2002? That set off a string of winning performances where "The Iceman" was able to win nine straight mixed martial arts (MMA) fights by way of knockout or technical knockout, making him one of the most popular fighters in Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Right when MMA experienced its boom in popularity. That's something the now-retired Liddell wants to see more of from this generation of fighters. And he's not just a UFC Hall-of-Famer calling shots from his couch, he's the promotion's new Vice President of Business Development and he wants to develop a more exciting product. From his conversation with U-T San Diego: "I'd really have to talk to the guys to see if that's really what they're doing. I see it like guys are trying a lot more to just get their win so they can get their next fight. When we were doing it, it was a lot more about just going out and fighting. I hate hearing in a UFC corner ‘you won the first four rounds, just stay away from him this round.' The guy doesn't have a knockout punch, hasn't taken you down the whole fight, why do you have to go be afraid of him? Go out and win! Make it exciting, go knock him out, finish the fight." Liddell has a point.

Rockhold says Belfort 'main culprit' for TRT, calls for universal UFC regulation
(mmajunkie.com)
Asked about the UFC's recent pledge to increase monitoring of testosterone-replacement therapy among its athletes, Rockhold offered, "They're letting him fight in Brazil and use TRT when Nevada doesn't let him, so who knows what's going on?" At a press conference in Brazil for the event, which takes place May 18 at Arena Jaragua in Jaragua do Sul, Santa Catarina, Rockhold said he didn't have a problem with Belfort's use of TRT. But in subsequent interviews, his opinion has changed. Rockhold said he doesn't care whether Belfort is using TRT when they step into the cage for their FX-televised headliner, but it's provided extra motivation in training camp.

UFC champ Johnson: 25-minute fight 'takes a real man and a man with balls'
(mmajunkie.com)
Back to training after a serious shoulder injury, Demetrious Johnson (17-2-1 MMA, 5-1-1 UFC) aims to exhaust John Moraga (12-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) when they meet at UFC on FOX 8, which takes place July 27 at Seattle's KeyArena. "I would prefer to go five rounds to see if he can go that far," Johnson recently said. A torn labrum forced the UFC flyweight champion to withdraw from a headlining fight this past month against Moraga at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale, but it didn't stop him from staying in shape. Now, he wants to see whether Moraga has the gas to keep up with him.
