Carano vs. "Cyborg" Strikeforce title bout targeted for August
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The female superfight that ProElite built but never promoted may happen as soon as August. At Saturday night's "Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz" post-event press conference, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said he hopes to arrange a bout between former EliteXC stars Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos (7-1) and Gina Carano (7-0) by that date. And when the two finally step into the cage, it will be for the organization's first female title. "That's going to be the No. 1 and the No. 2 female fighting in the world," Coker said. "It will be our first Strikeforce female title belt. We're going to be proud to put that on, and hopefully we can put that on in August. "That's our date we're shooting for, and pending some discussion with either fighter it could go further. But at some point we will have this fight. I feel very confident."
Benji Radach shatters right hand in Strikeforce loss to Scott Smith
SAN JOSE, Calif – "Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz" main-card fighter Benji Radach shattered his right hand and was sent to the hospital following his Showtime-televised loss to Scott Smith on Saturday. His agent, Ken Pavia, told MMAjunkie.com after the fight that Radach will likely undergo surgery overnight. Smith, on the brink of defeat, rebounded and defeated Radach with a stunning third-round TKO in their middleweight match-up at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
Frank Shamrock: Nick Diaz kicked my ass
“I give everything to Nick Diaz. I knew he was a dangerous opponent. Nick kicked my a– tonight; there’s no two ways about it. Nick was just the better man. He hit me in the guts, and that was about all the juice I had. I doubled over, and he put a whoopin’ on me. This is my hometown; this is my arena. I’m 36. I’m still going. I’ll be back here. Don’t even worry about it. There’s always tomorrow.” -Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Frank Shamrock (23-10-2) comments on his main event bout with Nick Diaz at the Strikeforce event that took place on April 11 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Shamrock — who defeated Diaz’ mentor Cesar Gracie in just 21 seconds back in 2006 – found himself on the other end of the whoopin’ for a change. Diaz was dominant from start to finish and left the usually insolent Shamrock both humbled and respectful after the show. What’s left now for the 36-year old Shammy going forward? Time will tell…

Overeem: "I Will Defend SF Heavyweight Title On June 6"

Cesar Gracie addresses Diaz's statements
whether Diaz wins or loses tomorrow night I think we can all agree that it won’t be because he smoked weed and watched Aqua Teen Hunger Force.
Pros pick: Shamrock v. Diaz
Shonie Carter: I must say from experience -- only after dealings with Frank -- I think that it is a bad matchup with him since his athletic ability can only carry him so far. This Nick Diaz is a very tough “strika grappla,” and I know personally that Frank has a friggin’ problem with them southpaw fighters. I also gotta look at the fact that Nick Diaz dude is a tough club thug vato loco that learned him some fighting and is the taller of the two Mexicans. Let's face it, one Mexican is hungry and lookin’ for revenge; the other isn’t and lives in the suburbs. Who do you think wins? I am Negrodamus, and I have spoken
MMA Quick Quote: Frank Shamrock is a fight fixer and a robber … not a legend
“I know he doesn’t want to go to the ground with me ’cause I’d tap him out quick and probably embarrass him. So he’ll try to trade strikes. I don’t mind…. We’ll like I said he’s weak on the ground so he’ll be doing everything to keep it standing. He thinks he’s a great striker and I want to see how great…. He’s not a legend to me. Back in the day he was fighting fixed matches in Japan and supplementing himself with who knows what. Before that he was in a California Youth Prison for robbing houses. If that’s your idea of a legend you might want to reassess your thinking.” – Nick Diaz tells how he really feels about former UFC middleweight champion and mixed martial arts pioneer, Frank Shamrock, in a recent interview. Shamrock and Diaz are slated to touch ‘em up tomorrow night (April 11) at the HP Pavillion in San Jose, Calif., during the main event at Strikeforce: “Shamrock vs. Diaz.” And it can’t come soon enough — the two have traded back-and-forth barbs for months. Now it’s time to let the fists fly and let them do all the talking inside the cage.

Strikeforce: Scott Smith looking to add to highlight reel on April 11
In the mixed martial arts world, Scott Smith (14-5) is largely known for two things. The first happened on November 11, 2006 in Las Vegas, at the live final of season four of "The Ultimate Fighter." Smith fought Pete Sell, with whom he had become good friends with during the show. The second came in MMA's network-television debut with EliteXC champ Robbie Lawler. With the equally heavy handed Benji Radach (19-4) on tap for Smith at Saturday's "Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Diaz," could the next scene in Smith's highlight reel be far behind?

Josh Thompson not fighting now
Strikeforce Lightweight Champion Josh Thomson today broke his left leg while training for his first title defense against the man who he defeated to capture it, Gilbert Melendez. Therefore, the highly anticipated rematch on April 11 has been scrapped. This stinks
Jake Shields Responds To Joe Riggs
When asked about Riggs’ comments that Shields’ “girlfriend or wife probably slaps him around standing up,” the former EliteXC champion said Riggs should focus on his own game. “I think he needs to concentrate on his fighting skills instead of talking. I would kick the crap out of him. I don’t think he would make it past the first round with me.
