Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker today announced that in addition to the night's Showtime-televised main card, the preliminary-card lineup will air live on HDNet. Five bouts, including a featured K.J. Noons vs. Jorge Masvidal lightweight bout, are planned for the broadcast. "Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum" takes place at American Airlines Center in Dallas, and the night's main card airs live on Showtime. It features the second half of the opening round's heavyweight grand prix. Coker said the broadcasting team hasn't been determined for the HDNet portion of the event. Strikeforce's Silva apologizes for Lesnar comments, eyes Barnett for grudge match
Strikeforce contender Antonio Silva (16-2 MMA, 3-1 SF) recently made waves with a string of harsh comments toward some of his fellow heavyweights. Now he wants to apologize for those remarks – well, some of them, anyway. Silva admits he recently crossed a line when questioning the severity of former UFC champion Brock Lesnar's health. And his criticism of Josh Barnett (29-5 MMA, 0-0 SF)? Well, Silva insists some of his words were poorly translated, but he's not ready to make nice with "The Babyfaced Assassin" just yet.

Tyron Woodley Eyes July Return, Hopes for Paul Daley Now, Nick Diaz Next
No sooner had Nick Diaz retained his Strikeforce welterweight title in April when he started discussing his future possibilities. There was a potential boxing match with Fernando Vargas thrown around, then another one against Jeff Lacy. There was a suggestion that he could face UFC champion Georges St-Pierre in an MMA superfight. One option that Diaz seemed to immediately dismiss, however, was a rising star in his own company, within his own division, Tyron Woodley. The unbeaten Woodley, in Diaz's opinion, would be "in a little over his head" moving so quickly into the title picture.

That's because Jeff Monson has apparently been signed by Zuffa and will take on Daniel Cormier at the upcoming Strikeforce: "Overeem vs. Werdum" event on June 18 in Dallas, Texas. Cormier made note of the booking on his Twitter and ShoSports has added the bout to the fight card on its website. Matt Lindland loudly answered former teammate Dan Henderson’s lawsuit against him over the Team Quest logo and name. Not only does Lindland now ask the California federal court to dismiss Henderson’s complaint altogether, but in his answer to Henderson’s complaint, he also countersues the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion for claims including trademark and copyright infringement, unfair competition, deceptive advertising, breach of contract, and interference with Lindland’s future business relationships. Henderson fired the first shot in this legal dispute by filing the lawsuit on Feb. 14, alleging trademark infringement, copyright infringement, and unfair competition against Lindland and his company, Team Quest Fight Club, LLC

Del Rosario's trainer says fighter facing legal distractions, potentially difficult recovery

The Strikeforce heavyweight was involved in an April 14 automobile accident when an allegedly intoxicated driver struck his car, which was waiting at a stoplight in Laguna Niguel, Calif. Now Del Rosario's trainer, Colin Oyama, said there's some concern whether or not the undefeated heavyweight will ever return to action, and he's facing some distracting legal proceedings while helping to prosecute the woman that hit him.
