Good vs. Hawn set for Bellator 39, Hieron vs. Weedman planned for future show
The semifinal round of Bellator Fighting Championships' season-four welterweight tournament has already taken shape.
Following the conclusion of the quarterfinal round, Bellator CEO announced that former champ Lyman Good will meet Rick Hawn at Bellator 39, and Jay Hieron vs. Brent Weedman will clash at a date yet to be determined.
The Hieron-Weedman fight will be scheduled when Weedman receives clearance for a facial laceration suffered in his Bellator 35 victory over Dan Hornbuckle.
The promotion had originally anticipated hosting both welterweight tournament semifinals at Bellator 39.
Former Strikeforce champ Sarah Kaufman signs with Armageddon Fighting Championship
Former Strikeforce female welterweight champion Sarah Kaufman (12-1 MMA, 4-1 SF) has her eyes on regaining the title she lost to Marloes Coenen this past October, but in the meantime, she'll stay busy outside of the promotion.
Kaufman and the Canadian-based promotion recently announced that the former Strikeforce champ will fight in front of her hometown crowd in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on April 2 at "Armageddon Fighting Championship 5: Judgment Day."
Paul Daley Apologizes for Missing Weight, Promises To Redeem Himself on Saturday
As BAMMA 5 approaches tomorrow, the main event hit a bump in the road when main event fighter Paul Daley missed weight turning his 5 round title fight against Yuya Shirai into a 3 round non-title fight.
The British heavy hitter was not happy with missing weight and issued the following statement following the BAMMA events on Friday. He also included a special message to Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz as well.
“I apologize to Shirai and the fans for missing weight,” Daley said. “Although the fight is 3 rounds now I only need 1 round to knock him out. The fans come to see me win the title but I promise them, title or not, I’ll win this fight and win it in style.
“Then I’m going after Diaz and I want to send him out the message that I mean business with my performance tomorrow night.”
The weight cutting bug also bit former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez, who failed to cut to the 215lb catchweight limit agreed to with his opponent James McSweeney.
BAMMA 5: Paul Daley Misses Weight, Loses Title Shot

As a result, the fight is now a 3-round NON-TITLE fight and Daley will be fined an undisclosed percentage of his fight purse, which will go to Shirai. Daley was 2 pounds overweight on his first try.
Bellator inks featherweight notable Marlon Sandro for non-tourney fights
Bellator Fighting Championships' recent shopping spree has netted another notable.
Officials today announced the signing of former World Victory Road/Sengoku champion and King of Pancrase Marlon Sandro (17-2 MMA, 0-0 BFC) to its featherweight roster.
Sandro won't compete in the organization's upcoming 145-pound tourney but will compete in season-four non-tourney fights on MTV2.
The Brazilian fighter and Nova Uniao team member never has competed in the U.S.
"Marlon Sandro is a phenomenal talent at 145," Bellator Chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney stated. "Our featherweight division is absolutely stacked, and Sandro pushes that talent pool to an even higher level. I'm thrilled to have him on board."
Hector Lombard To Face Falaniko Vitale In Non-Title Fight At Bellator 44
It's back to business for Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard. The hard-swinging fighter is expected to meet Falaniko Vitale in a non-title bout on May 14 at Bellator 44. Verbal agreements are in place, paperwork pending. Lombard, who won Bellator's season-one tournament to become champion, beat back the first challenger to his belt this past October when he took on season-three tourney winner Alexander Shlemenko and earned a unanimous-decision win at Bellator 34. Vitale returned to active competition this past year and put together back-to-back wins in his home state of Hawaii.
Bellator Boss: No Ricco Rodriguez Deal
Ricco Rodriguez has not joined the Bellator Fighting Championships roster. Although the fighter recently gave an interview in which he said he has signed a contract with the promotion, an official denied those claims. "Ricco's a great fighter enjoying a spectacular rebirth to his career, but he is not signed to Bellator," Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney said when reached for comment.
Sportfight Champ Official for Bellator’s 205-Pound Tournament
Sportfight heavyweight champion D.J. Linderman (Pictured) will make the cut to 205 pounds in order to compete in the inaugural Bellator Fighting Championships light heavyweight tournament. The promotion on Friday made Linderman’s participation in the Season 4 draw official.

Ex-Strikeforce fighter Bobby Lashley headlines HDNet's Titan FC 17 on March 25
Former WWE star and ex-Strikeforce fighter Bobby Lashley returns to the cage on March 25 to headline the HDNet-televised Titan Fighting Championships 17 event.
Officials today announced Lashley (5-1) fights M-1 Challenger James Jack (6-2-1) at the show.
The event takes place March 25 at Historic Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.
A previously announced bout between Phil Baroni and Nick Nolte co-headlines the show.
"We received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from the MMA community following our HDNet debut on Jan. 28," stated Titan Fighting CEO Joe Kelly, who featured an Abe Wagner vs. Tim Sylvia headliner this past month. "A lot of unique opportunities have presented themselves to Titan since the show, and working with Bobby Lashley was one of them. We are really excited to be working with Bobby as he continues his pursuit of MMA greatness."
Bellator Champ Ben Askren Draws UFC Vet Nick Thompson
Unbeaten Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren has his next test, and it will be against his most seasoned opponent yet.
Askren, who won the promotion's Season 2 welterweight tournament to earn a date with champ Lyman Good, whom he beat to win the title in October, will face UFC veteran Nick Thompson at Bellator 40 in April. Bellator made the fight official on Wednesday – though it will be a non-title fight.
Featherweight Ronnie Mann Signs With Bellator
Highly touted featherweight Ronnie Mann has signed an exclusive contract with Bellator, CEO Bjorn Rebney informed MMA Fighting on Wednesday. The 18-2-1 fighter has been released from his Sengoku Raiden Championship contract and will compete in Bellator's upcoming fourth season in a televised non-tournament bout. He will then be a part of the following season's 145-pound tournament.
Mann, the current Shark Fights featherweight champion is 7-1 in his last 8 fights. He lost to Hatsu Hioki via submission in the second round of SRC's featherweight grand prix in May 2009.
Eddie Alvarez vs. Pat Curran Back On, Headlines Bellator 39
A title fight between lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and season-two tourney winner Pat Curran will headline Bellator 39 on April 2. Bellator Chairman and CEO confirmed the once-canceled title fight with MMA Fighting on Wednesday. After Alvarez won the season-one tournament and Curran the season-two tourney, they were scheduled for a title fight in season three. But Curran was forced out of the bout due to a shoulder injury, and Alvarez instead fought and defeated eliminated tourney fighter Roger Huerta in a non-title fight.
Phil Collins Off Tachi Palace Fights 9 Event
"Against All Odds," Phil Collins has decided a pending matchup with Waachiim Spiritwolf just isn't "In the Air Tonight." Obligatory Collins jokes aside, he's withdrawn from the May fight at Tachi Place Fights 9, citing personal reasons. Wand Fight Team product Jorge Lopez is the replacement.
Phil Baroni vs. Nick Nolte (Not The Actor) Added To Titan FC 17
After a recent UFC release, veteran Phil Baroni returns to the cage on March 25 to take on Nick Nolte at Titan Fighting Championships 17. Officials today announced the middleweight fight. The event, which airs live on HDNet, takes place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., the usual home for Titan events. Baroni, whom the UFC release following a Jan. 1 loss to Brad Tavares, is stuck in a three-fight losing skid and his lost six of his past nine fights, which included stints with Strikeforce, EliteXC and Cage Rage. But in early January, Titan officials announced they had signed the notable to a multi-fight deal. Nolte (not the actor), a Kansas City-area fighter, went 7-3 as an amateur before making his pro MMA debut in early 2009. The one-time Strikeforce and Bellator fighter recently scored a second-round submission victory over Lee Werr at a regional event in Kansas.
Bellator Adds Nazareno Malegarie, Featherweight With MMA's Best Record
The fighter with the best record in mixed martial arts is heading to Bellator and ready to enter the promotion's Season 4 featherweight tournament.
Nazareno Malegarie, who has built up a 19-0 record while fighting for Brazilian promotions, is now ready to fight in the United States, Bellator announced Monday.
"I'm just very excited to finally have the chance to show fans in the United States what I'm capable of," Malegarie said in a statement. "Signing with Bellator was very important for me, and I'm ready to prove myself."
Titan Fighting Championships 16 results

Former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia, who had put together a respectable four-fight run heading into Friday's Titan Fighting Championship 16 event, lasted just 32 seconds against "The Ultimate Fighter 10" cast member Abe Wagner.
The super heavyweight matchup served as the main event of Friday night's HDNet-broadcast event, which took place at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan.
Wagner's speed advantage was evident in the opening seconds, and he looked to pepper Sylvia with strikes on multiple levels as he retreated and stayed away from his opponent's length. Then a right hand brought about the beginning of the end.
Ricco Rodriguez to Face James McSweeney at BAMMA 5
Former UFC heavyweight champion Ricco Rodriguez will meet The Ultimate Fighter 10 contestant James McSweeney at BAMMA 5 on Feb. 26 in Manchester, England, the promotion announced Wednesday.
Rodriguez will look to extend his 10-fight win streak at the UK-based event, which will be headlined by Strikeforce contender Paul Daley vs. DEEP champion Yuya Shirai for the vacant BAMMA welterweight strap.
Jens Pulver Out to 'Rebuild' After Ending Six-Fight Losing Streak

Former UFC lightweight champ Jens Pulver (23-14-1) this past Saturday submitted Mike Lindquist with a first-round rear-naked choke at an XFO event in Woodstock, Ill., snapping a six-fight losing streak.
It was Pulver's first win in over three years and would have retired had he fallen short against the unheralded fighter (6-20), Pulver said Monday on MMAFighting.com's The MMA Hour.
Cote draws Kalib Starnes for Ringside MMA debut in April
After a recent announcement regarding Patrick Cote signing with Ringside MMA it appears the former UFC middleweight title-contender now has an opponent and date attached to his forthcoming debut in the Canadian company. Questions Linger For Bellator Heading Into Fourth Season
Last month, Bellator announced a 3-year TV deal with MTV2 TV, claiming the event as a turning point for the promotion. As they head into their 4th season, there are still a few aspects of the deal that weren’t clear, mainly pertaining to time-slot, production, profitability, and future sustainability.
