Kyle Maynard Loses Unsanctioned MMA Debut
(mmaweekly.com)
Kyle Maynard, a congenital amputee that garnered much attention for his successes in wrestling and submission grappling, was unsuccessful in his mixed martial arts debut on Saturday night. Despite initial plans to the contrary, Maynard did not wear gloves during the fight, which was apparently due to high levels of humidity in the arena making them difficult to secure to his shortened limbs. Underground MMA: Barely controlled chaos
(vancouversun.com)
In Quebec and Alberta, mixed martial arts is a big-money business. But in most of B.C., it's an underground endeavour where rules are sometimes optional, blood flows freely, and fighters go unpaid to get around the law Being from Vancouver and heavily involved in the local mma scene... this stuff is disturbing and hopefully the kind of information which needs to be realized by the local government for things to move in the right direction
