Jacob Volkmann Says He Blacked Out, Had Seizure on Day Before WSOF 3 Win
(sherdog.com)
One day prior to his debut in the World Series of Fighting, Jacob Volkmann took a fall -- not on the mat, but in his Las Vegas hotel room. According to the lightweight, he was taking a nap prior to the WSOF 3 weigh-in when a knock at the door caused him to stir. Dehydrated from cutting weight, Volkmann arose and walked across the room to answer the door, only to soon find himself in a much different state. “The maid knocks on my door and keeps on knocking, and I [thought], ‘I’d better not get up too fast.’ So I got up and walked toward the door, and by the time I got my hand on the door, I blacked out,” Volkman told TJ De Santis during a Wednesday interview on “Beatdown” on the Sherdog Radio Network. “Next thing I remember, I was shaking on the floor, having seizures.”

Josh Burkman: I wouldn't leave WSOF for UFC
(mmajunkie.com)
Josh Burkman is a man of his word. So when he signs a contract, you can expect him to fulfill the terms of it. That's why the resurgent welterweight, who upset former UFC title challenger Jon Fitch this past weekend in World Series of Fighting 3's main event, won't be returning to the UFC even if his former home made him a new offer. Right now, his loyalty is to the WSOF, where he's 3-0 with wins over Fitch, Aaron Simpson and Gerald Harris. Now 8-1 since his 2008 UFC release, Burkman recently nabbed an honorable mention slot in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie.com MMA welterweight rankings.

Jon Fitch was ‘overconfident' in his submission defense against Josh Burkman
(mmamania.com)
Jon Fitch reflects on his submission loss to Josh Burkman at WSOF 3 on Friday night (June 14, 2013) in Las Vegas, Nevada. "I got a little overconfident with my choke defense and was going to try to slam him, but he locked it in too tight. Mistake on my part. I should have fought the choke right away." -- World Series of Fighting (WSOF) welterweight Jon Fitch immediately reacts to his 41-second submission loss to Josh Burkman (watch it here) in his post-fight interview at WSOF 3 on Friday night (June 14, 2013). In what the entire mixed martial arts (MMA) community considered a shocking upset, Fitch was choked completely unconscious by a guillotine choke from "The People's Warrior" and it resulted in his third loss in five fights. Fitch, who successfully defended 28 of 28 submission attempts in his tenure with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), got put to sleep with the first submission attempted on him in the WSOF cage. The 35-year-old blamed overconfidence in his submission defense as a reason why he lost the fight, and given his track record it's hard to blame him. Nevertheless, it was not the type of performance he was hoping for and it just proves a technical error

Jon Fitch's WSOF contract allows for fights in outside organizations
(mmajunkie.com)
While Jon Fitch (24-5-1) said he's thoroughly committed to the World Series of Fighting, he has options if the promotion doesn't keep him busy. The veteran welterweight, who's scheduled to rematch Josh Burkman (25-9) June 14 at WSOF 3, expects to fulfill a four-fight contract with the promotion within a year. But if there are delays, he could fight for another promoter, perhaps in Asia. "I have it within my contract to fight elsewhere," Fitch told MMAjunkie.com
