Cyborg drop to 135 on hold, next fight at 145
Invicta FC founder and president Shannon Knapp appeared recently on Inside MMA, and said that league featherweight champion Cris Cyborg is not presently attempting a drop to 135. The fighter was scheduled to fight Cindy Dandois at a catchweight of 140 at Invicta FC 15 on Jan. 16 in Costa Mesa, Calif. If that was successful, a fight at 135 would have been feasible, with a fight with UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey to follow. However, the UFC secured the services to USADA to do PED testing, and they have prohibited using an IV to rehydrate. Further, Ronda Rousey lost, and her next fight is a rematch.

Tyrone Spong is having a hard time making his big MMA return. Sherdog was the first to report the news. In Spong's place will be Clinton Williams, according to Sefo. Williams (7-2), a well-muscled heavyweight, will be making his WSOF debut. The 31-year-old has won four of his last five fights. Williams is coming off a third-round submission of Jared Hatch last month at SteelFist Fight Night 38.

Mamed Khalidov Blasts Michal Materla in 31 Seconds for Middleweight Gold at KSW 33
Mariusz Pudzianowski might be Konfrontacja Sztuk Walki's biggest star, but Mamed Khalidov is the promotion's greatest fighter. Saturday at Tauron Arena in Krakow, Poland, Khalidov proved it once more, demolishing Michal Materla in 31 seconds and taking middleweight gold in the main event of KSW 33. KSW boldily billed the Materla-Khalidov clash as the “biggest fight in European MMA history,” but Khalidov (31-4-2) left little room for anything resembling drama. Within seconds, Khalidov landed a hard right hook that wobbled the champion. Khalidov then sprinted, took flight and bashed Materla (22-5) with a flying knee, another perfect right hook as the champ fell and a dozen rifling punches before referee Piotr Michalak could intervene in barely half a minute.
