What happened to Cage Warriors? The arguable top European promotion had a 12-year history of not just running successful shows, but producing top prospect after top prospect. Yet, after November of 2014, everything seemingly went quiet. No new events were announced and by February, the former CEO Graham Boylan, announced he was resigning, spurring even more rumors about the once-great promotion's future.
WSOF re-signs champs David Branch, Justin Gaethje and Marlon Moraes
WSOF has re-signed three of its champions to exclusive multi-year deals, officials today announced.
The signings include middleweight champion David Branch (16-3), lightweight titleholder Justin Gaethje (14-0) and bantamweight champ Marlon Moraes (14-4-1), who are a combined 20-0 in the WSOF cage.
Terms of the deals weren’t disclosed.
Joe Schilling committing to MMA, planning permanent move to American Top Team
Joe Schilling is going all in on mixed martial arts.
The two-sport star told MMAFighting.com on Friday that he plans on soon moving his family to South Florida from Los Angeles to continue his training at American Top Team in Coconut Creek. Schilling has been at ATT for weeks and will complete his camp there in advance of a fight against Hisaki Kato at Bellator 139 on June 26 in Mulvane, Kan.
Titan FC Joins UFC Fight Pass
Long-running regional organization Titan Fighting Championship on Monday became the latest promoter to align itself with UFC Fight Pass.
Ultimate Fighting Championship Chief Content Officer Marshall Zelaznik today announced that Titan FC has signed an “exclusive, long-term agreement” with the UFC’s online streaming service. Details of the agreement were not disclosed.
UFC Fight Pass will live stream all future events from the promotion, beginning with next month’s Titan FC 34, and will also add its 33-event back catalog to the UFC’s online library.
Teammates agree to fight on eve of WSOF 21
A unique, last-minute fight has come together on the eve of World Series of Fighting 21.
Here's the deal: Middleweights Matt Baker and Marcus Hicks were scheduled to fight Friday night in a prelim bout on the card in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. However, on Thursday, Hicks was ruled out of the fight due to complications with his weight cut, according to WSOF officials. As a result, Thiago Goncalves, who was in Edmonton to corner Baker and has been sharing a room with him all week long, has agreed to fight his teammate on a day's notice, WSOF officials confirmed with MMAFighting.com.
