“If (WSOF matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz and president Ray Sefo) come to me and say, ‘Marlon, you want to do a superfight,’ I would be able to,” he said.
WSOF has some solid champions in those divisions: featherweight Lance Palmer (10-1) and lightweight Justin Gaethje (14-0). The organization doesn’t have a flyweight champion, but that doesn’t seem to matter.

At the annual Convention of the Association of Boxing Commissions in San Diego, Wanderlei Silva and a host of ex-UFC fighters made a push for a Muhammad Ali act in the sport of MMA.

This time may have been one time too many for Rousimar Palhares. The reigning World Series of Fighting welterweight champion defended his belt Saturday night against Jake Shields with a third-round kimura at WSOF 22, but yet again found himself in hot water due to a series of eye gouges and a failure release his fight-winning submission in a timely manner.
Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov have exchanged many words in recent months. Tonight at WSOF 22 in Las Vegas, their rivalry came to a head.
Diaz (17-10 MMA, 12-8 UFC)), along with his older brother Nick, engaged in a wild brawl with Nurmagomedov (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) in the stands at WSOF 22, which went down at Las Vegas’ Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.
Yushin Okami’s welterweight debut will come against another UFC vet when he and Jon Fitch headline WSOF 24 on Oct. 17.
WSOF President Ray Sefo confirmed the plans with MMAjunkie.
In addition to Okami (30-9) vs. Fitch (26-7-1), WSOF 24 also features heavyweight champion Blagoy Ivanov (12-1) vs. Derek Mehmen (19-6). Additionally, lightweight Nick Newell (12-1) is slated for the card.
WSOF 24 takes place Oct. 17 at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Conn. The main card is expected to air on NBCSN following prelims on MMAjunkie.
“Palhares is a guy I don’t really care for; He’s a dirty guy who likes hurting people then he plays the nice guy after he breaks their legs,” said Shields to Mike Bohn for MMAjunkie on today’s WSoF 22 media call. “He’s a bad person so it makes me want to go out there and punch him. … I might not care for Palhares, but he is extremely good at leg locks.”
Abubaker Nurmagomedov, the highly-touted younger brother of UFC contender Khabib Nurmagomedov, is slated to make his World Series of Fighting debut against welterweight prospect Jorge Moreno on Aug. 1 at WSOF 22, promotion officials told MMAFighting.com.
