Bellator FC Open To Working With Strikeforce
You’d be hard pressed to find an avid MMA fan that didn’t want to see Strikeforce lightweight champion Josh Thomson face off with East Coast standout Eddie Alvarez. While Thomson carries the belt of an organization poised to be the next serious player in the MMA market, Alvarez’s popularity in recent years has run parallel to the American Kickboxing Academy product. In November, Alvarez signed a deal with Bellator Fighting Championships, whose 12-week tournament based show debuts on ESPN Deportes in April. But Bjorn Rebney, CEO of Bellator FC, says there is room for Alvarez, and others, to roam. And that includes Strikeforce.
Spoiled "Cabbage": Correira Suspended In Contract Dispute
Wesley Correira isn't exactly the most appealing form of "Cabbage" right now. The CSAC has temporarily suspended him for failing to satisfy a one-fight contract to face Buddy Clinton at a co-promoted Wargods and Ken Shamrock Productions event on Feb. 13 in Fresno, Calif. Correira claims it was because his fight purse would be halved to offset costs of last-minute medical tests. As part of the suspension, Correira says he must hold up his end of an agreement he signed with the California-based promotion before he would be licensed to fight anywhere else in the state again. That could be sometime in May.

-Ron Verdadero v Hector “Shango” Lombard
Crowd favorite and CFC veteran Hector “Shango” Lombard returned to Sydney, Australia, to defend his CFC championship belt against the tough Hawaiian Ron Verdadero.
After a warm welcome, Shango wasted no time landing a big right hand that put Verdadero down. Lombard chased in, but Verdadero was already recovering from the hook. Lombard took the opportunity to get his stunned opponent’s back, standing up and delivering a huge suplex that almost put Verdadero out again. Quick to finish it off, Lombard delivered some vicious ground strikes, eventually forcing the TKO.

MFC 20 Results - Thompson & Healy Win
Defending his Maximum Fighting Championship welterweight title for the first time, Pat Healy for the second time defeated top prospect Ryan Ford by split decision after a five-round war on Friday night in Canada.
Taking the original fight on short notice, Healy had a full camp to prepare for Ford this time and it showed as he was able to take down the powerful wrestler multiple times in the bout, while also taking his back several times.
Ford was able to overpower Healy at many turns in the fight, but the Team Quest fighter used his wealth of experience to stay out of trouble and work for position, while pawing at the Canadian with submission attempts in numerous rounds.
The final round saw a back and forth war, but as the fight was closing Healy actually locked on a "twister" that saw Ford's neck wrenched backwards, and if not for the time expiring the champion may have caused the tapout.

Daley Misses Weight for MFC 20
Paul Daley failed to make weight for his bout with former Bodog Fight welterweight champion Nick Thompson at Maximum Fighting Championship 20. Daley checked in at 171.5 pounds at Thursday’s official weigh-in and will forfeit 25 percent of his pay to Thompson.
“I really want to apologize to the MFC and to Nick Thompson for missing weight,” Daley said. “I don’t know why; I hope I’m not making this a habit. Maybe it’s, in part, [due] to the 20-hour flight.”
Daley (19-7-2) has missed weight for each of his past two fights. In December, he came in four pounds overweight for his bout with UFC veteran John Alessio at MFC 19. Daley defeated Alessio by technical knockout midway through the second round.
