Elvis Sinosic Talks About The Affliction Crash
(punchdrunkgamer.com)
Elvis Sinosic Talks About The Affliction Crash I write this opinion as a fan, a fighter and a coach. It was sad to see the demise of another big MMA organization. To see Affliction collapse was sad. As a fan I have now lost another opportunity watch MMA. I lost the opportunity to watch fighters that aren’t in the UFC. So I am left with less MMA and in my opinion that is disappointing. As a fighter it means one less show that I have the opportunity to fight in. This means one less avenue which allows me to earn a living (and for all other fighters as well). Sadly no one show will be able to give every fighter and opportunity. We need more shows to give the fighters more exposure and more opportunity to fight. As a coach it means one less show for my fighters to compete in. Sadly the demise has left a hole in the sport. Hopefully in time that hole will be filled by another organization. But even still it still means one less place to share my enjoyment of MMA. Thanks, Elvis Sinosic The King of Rock ‘n Rumble Sinosic Perosh Martial Arts

Georges St. Pierre looking to train with Lyoto Machida
(fiveouncesofpain.com)
Coming off a dominating performance at the UFC’s most anticipated show ever, UFC 100, Georges St-Pierre has put a stamp on his weight class and is pondering a move up to seek new challenges. With this prospect on his horizon, he is reaching out to another UFC Champion in Lyoto Machida due to one thing they have in common. It isn’t their UFC belts, rather their matching black belts in Karate.

Is BJ Penn's Legacy on the Line at UFC 101?
(bloodyelbow.com)
At UFC 101 BJ Penn finally gets to answer all the questions. Is he really the best lightweight in the world, or is he overrated? Fans have started questioning the strength of his wins at 155, starting with the win over Jens Pulver. Pulver's gone on such a bad losing streak that the win isn't impressive in retrospect. He got a nice win over Joe Stevenson, but Stevenson went on to suffer a first round loss to Kenny Florian and a decision to Diego Sanchez. His win over Sherk looked impressive until Frankie Edgar easily outboxed Sherk.

WHERE HE WANTS TO BE, BENAVIDEZ READY FOR CRUZ
(mmaweekly.com)
No longer in the shadow of his mentor and friend, Urijah Faber, Joseph Benavidez has risen through the ranks to stake claim as the next big thing in the 135-pound division. Set to face Dominick Cruz on Aug. 9 as the co-main event under current champ Miguel Torres at WEC 42, the supporting slot has become a comfortable trend for the New Mexico native. His fight with Cruz will mark the third time in three WEC appearances that Benavidez will be on the same card with Torres headlining. Needless to say, he has taken notice.

Passed on for Nick Diaz fight, Strikeforce's Phil Baroni says future will be different
(mmajunkie.com)
Strikeforce welterweight brawler Phil Baroni (13-11) was the first person to raise his hand when the organization was in need for a replacement opponent for Nick Diaz. It's the warrior mentality that has been a career hallmark of the "New York Bad Ass," but it wasn't enough for Showtime to allow Baroni to step in for Joe Riggs on the main card of the Aug. 15 event, "Carano vs. Cyborg."

Czar Wars: Vadim ‘The Dream’ Finkelchtein still interested in negotiating with Dana White
(mmamania.com)
He just doesn’t like doing laundry in public… “There have been recent reports stating that talk between M-1 Global and the UFC regarding Fedor fighting in the UFC have ended. Like some of the other reports that have surfaced, this is incorrect. It is unfortunate that so much incorrect information has been leaked to the public. It is M-1’s preference not to negotiate in public and we are unsure why people claim that Fedor and M-1 turned down a six fight, $30 million contract to fight in the UFC when no such offer was ever made."

FLORIAN READY TO PROVE EVERYBODY WRONG
(mmaweekly.com)
"If I tell you I'm good, you would probably think I'm boasting. If I tell you I'm no good, you know I'm lying." – Bruce Lee Steadily climbing the ranks over the last year, top lightweight contender Kenny Florian has stayed as humble as any fighter in the game despite reeling off six wins in a row, and becoming one of the top 155-pound fighters in the world. Still, Florian believes that he had a lot to learn after his win over Joe Stevenson before facing lightweight champion B.J. Penn on Aug. 8 at UFC 101 in Philadelphia.

The future of Tito Ortiz's career "will be made today," UFC media call a coincidence?
(mmajunkie.com)
Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz, one of the biggest stars in UFC history, hasn't fought since May 2008, but according to a recent MySpace bulletin from the fighter, "The future of my career will be made [today]." Ortiz posted the bulletin on Thursday night teasing a big announcement that will be made today. Perhaps not coincidentally, the UFC has a media call planned today in which company president Dana White promises to "break the latest UFC news."

Update on Fedor offers
(mixedmartialarts.com)
According to Chad Dukes of The Lavar Arrington Show With Chad Dukes on 106.7 The Fan and announced on air today, a source apparently is telling him that the deal Strikeforce has offered Fedor Emelianenko and M-1 would be for $1 million per fight: $500k from Strikeforce and $500k from CBS for 6 fights (not sure about what happens when he doesn't fight on CBS or perhaps these are all CBS fights?). Any fight would be co-promoted with M-1 and the contract would be non-exclusive. While I was adamant yesterday about the UFC's offer being excellent for Emelianenko, if these details are true the Strikeforce deal is excellent as well. It certainly isn't as financially lucrative as what the UFC has put together, but the clear obstacle of co-promotion is entirely removed.

Fedor Emelianenko rejects statement from brother Aleks about true motives of Vadim Finkelchtein
(mmamania.com)
By now it’s no secret that former Pride FC Heavyweight Champion and Affliction headliner Fedor Emelianenko is being vigorously pursued by most of the world’s mixed martial arts promotions following the untimely demise of his previous employer, Affliction MMA. Topping the list of potential suitors is Dana White, president of The Ultimate Fighting Championship, who no doubt sees the biggest pay-per-view (PPV) of all time in his company’s future should he somehow finagle a heavyweight superfight between the Russian Rancor and Zuffa’s pale powerhouse, Brock Lesnar.

(mma.fanhouse.com)
British welterweight Paul "Semtex" Daley is still in negotiations with a number of promotions and a deal with the UFC has not yet been finalized, contrary to the reports Wednesday of a four-fight deal. "These reports are premature, we have signed nothing," Daley's manager told FanHouse Thursday morning. "We're in talks with groups, one of whom includes the UFC."

The Case Against Fedor Emelianenko Signing With the UFC
(bloodyelbow.com)
It’s the David Axelrod graduate school of marketing here, but it also helps to have willing participants ready and able to carry your water. (Carmichael Dave is on KHTK in Sacramento and Dana White is a frequent guest.) Have you noticed how the campaign of information and misinformation online is working to discredit Fedor and try to paint him in a bad light? Look, we know he’s isolated and nothing is going to change and whatever happens for the rest of his career, it will be on him in regards to why he didn’t fight in UFC. If that offends you, then it offends you. Obviously he seems happy with his current business arrangements, so let him go off and do whatever he is going to do.

Emelianenko team: More to MMA than UFC
(content.usatoday.com)
The difficulties that the Ultimate Fighting Championship has in trying to sign Russian heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko can be traced back to one prevailing attitude among his management team. "The UFC won't be able to control the whole world," said Vadim Finkelstein, the president of Emelianenko's main promoter, M-1 Global.

Fedor Emelianenko Gives No Reason to Think He'll Sign With UFC
(mma.fanhouse.com)
The heavyweight champion of mixed martial arts and the sport's biggest promoter appear to have a major sticking point in negotiations that will keep them from coming together any time soon. Fedor Emelianenko, widely recognized as the best heavyweight in MMA, reiterated at a press conference Wednesday that he does not intend to sign a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship unless the UFC agrees to promote fights jointly with Fedor's promoter, M-1 Global. The UFC has offered Fedor a contract but has steadfastly refused to become business partners with M-1.
