Jason "Mayhem" Miller Apologizes For Post-Strikeforce Brawl
(bleacherreport.com)
Strikeforce: Nashville had it's share of criticism after the events of Saturday night. Unfortunately, the fight card was overshadowed by the brawl between Jason "Mayhem" Miller and Jake Shields, Gilbert Melendez and the Diaz brothers. Late Sunday night, Miller posted an apology on his website and addressed the situation. Good move by Mayhem or is he being hung out to dry by SF? I think a question that needs to be asked after this is after the events of the other night would Dana still consider signing Sheilds? As defensive as he is of MMA and it's image, is it too big a risk to have Shields posse at events?

Sweet Chael Sonnen interview
(cagepotato.com)
Did you perceive the goading, motioning, shouting by Silva to be showmanship or disrespect? Or perhaps a little bit of both? Look, I'm not a gang banger. I don't talk about “respect.” That term is for street thugs, not me.

Andrei Arlovski Talks Lessons Learned and Future Goals in Strikeforce
(cagepotato.com)
With his new Strikeforce deal completed, it seems like “The Pitbull” might soon be barking up a couple of old trees. Popular Strikeforce heavyweight Andrei “The Pitbull” Arlovski (15-7) is set to take on Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva on May 15, and while he isn’t looking past the big Brazilian, he understands that a win over Silva could put him in position to avenge his devastating 2009 losses to Fedor Emelianenko and Brett Rogers in the not-so-far future. Since his June loss to Rogers, Arlovski has murdered Mike Pyle, beaten up a bully, done a ton of video blogging, and trained with some of the best camps in MMA. Arlovski recently signed a new multi-fight deal with Strikeforce, and the former UFC heavyweight champ is looking to avoid a third straight loss. Arlovski has lost two consecutive fights three times in his career, and if history teaches us anything, it’s that 1) the first man killed in the American Revolution was Crispus Atticus, and 2) after back-to-back losses, Arlovski quickly goes back to crushing people. The sometimes hairy, always scary Arlovski says he has a few scores to settle in Strikeforce, but before he can do that, he needs history to repeat itself on May 15 against “Bigfoot.”

Hughes, who defeated hall of famer Royce Gracie at UFC 60 back in 2006, will get in the octagon with Royce's cousin Renzo this Saturday. Roy Nelson says Kimbo Slice has a better ground game then Matt Mitrione
(bit.ly)
“It’s kind of hard to say. Matt has quick hands, Kimbo has power in his hands. It’s going to be a fun fight to watch. Personally you know it’s not a fight that’s going to go to the ground. I think Kimbo probably edges him out on the ground though. You heard it from Roy Nelson, Kimbo edges Matt Mitrione on the ground. I’m just a guy that just sprouts the truth. I hate to say it but that’s just the truth. You remember watching when James McSweeney guillotined Matt Mitrione and Matt Mitrione when he got guillotined he already had his hand out ready to tap? Before he tapped, I’m like, yeah see, I yelled at him and said you just quit. Why you just let someone just punk you into quitting? And he was like, it wasn’t even tight and I’m like, I know it wasn’t even a choke.”

Does Maia Have A Chance?
(mmanightmare.webs.com)
Anderson Silva. The Spider carries a perfect 10-0 octagon record with him to his middleweight title defense this Saturday at UFC 112. He also has a 25-4 record overall, with 15 of his fights coming by way of KO/TKO. Silva has not lost an MMA fight in nearly five years, and many, including UFC President Dana White, rank him as the top pound for pound fighter in the world.

Meet "The Ultimate Fighter 11" cast: Grizzled veteran Kyacey Uscola
(mmajunkie.com)
Call him the anti-Amir Sadollah. Where Sadollah was able to claim victory in the seventh season of "The Ultimate Figher" with zero pro fights to his name, Kyacey Uscola will now try his hand at the 11th edition with nearly 50. And while some veterans may feel like the added experience means they have a target on their back, "Ice Cold" said it just makes him the favorite. "I don't think any of them are gunning for me," Uscola told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I think they know that I can bang with any of them. I can grapple. I'm a college All-American. I've taken the advanced division at Grappler's Quest. "I think they're all pretty worried." Uscola's exact record is a little tough to nail down. Depending on where you look, he might be 18-15 or could be 18-12. Uscola believes the most accurate mark is about 30-16. Whatever it actually is, Uscola just knows there are way more losses on it than he'd like to see. "It's taken me a lot of trials and tribulations to get here," Uscola said. "I've fought a lot of tough guys, and I pissed off a lot of good fights or matches that I should have won." A former collegiate wrestling All-American, Uscola has been fighting professionally since 2004. While his lengthy record does have its share of losses, a closer look at his history reveals an astounding amount of quality opponents: Josh Burkman, Xavier Foupa-Pokam, Mike Guymon, Gegard Mousasi, Kyle Noke, Trevor Prangley, Chael Sonnen, and Joey Villasenor, among others. But Uscola believes those years of experience of fighting anyone who would step up have prepared him for this moment – that and his current training with Urijah Faber's Team Alpha Male in Sacramento, Calif. "I'm with a great training camp now, and it's sort of changed my aspect on things," Uscola said. "I think a lot of it is watching Urijah and him being in my ear all the time, like, 'Kyacey, you've got all the talent in the world. Let's get it done. Let's get it done.'"

Penn Considering Move To 170 Following UFC 112
(mmaweekly.com)
Each time B.J. Penn prepares to defend his Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight belt, the question arises: with a win, will he return to the welterweight division where he once held the title? Penn takes on Frankie Edgar in the co-main event of UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi on April 10, and if the Hawaiian comes away with the win, a move to the 170-pound division is something he’s considering. “If everything goes well on April 10, I definitely would consider moving up to 170. Not that I’m – not that it’s 100-percent guaranteed,” Penn said recently. “If I do make that move I’m going to move slow. I’m not going to try to rush anything,” he added. “Maybe I would think about it more as testing the waters. I’d talk to Dana and see if he would want me to vacate the belt, but maybe try do something like Anderson (Silva) is doing, test the waters, see how everything is going and see how everything plays out.”

Shane Carwin: Back And Ready For War
(mmanightmare.webs.com)
One minute and forty-eight seconds. That's the average length of Shane Carwin's four bouts in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Two of those four bouts were against either a former UFC heavyweight champion or contender, and all of them were ended by way of Carwin's massive fists smashing repeatedly into his opponent's face.

With Poland conquered, teenage prodigy Marcin Held hopes for big-stage MMA offer
(mmajunkie.com)
Marcin Held found the beginning of his promising mixed-martial-arts career on a billboard. The then-9-year-old Held was searching for something new to try, and he spotted the advertisement for a gym in his Polish city of Tychy. He wandered in to check out the facility. "It was (an) accident," Held told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) in his improving English this week. "The club is one of the best in jiu jitsu in Poland." And Held took to it quickly. Now, at 18, the 155-pounder already has an 8-0 start to his professional career after compiling an undefeated amateur record.

Heath Herring clarifies recent UFC criticism, says non-fight ventures simply more lucrative
(mmajunkie.com)
“I think the whole five Ferrari comment is that at this point in my career, I’m actually making less money than when I was younger and I was 23 years old,” Herring told MMAjunkie.com. “Like I said, I’ve got these business opportunities that have arisen, and it actually makes more sense for me to try to do that financially than try to take the time out and fight. That’s the decision I’m being faced with right now.” It wasn’t an easy decision, he noted. “It’s obviously a risk that I wrestle with on a daily basis,” he said. “It’s been a very tough decision for me. But with my current contract, I feel like I’ve hit the glass ceiling, so to speak. It’s not that I don’t ever want to fight again. But I have to be intelligent with my body and my time, and (if) I can find something that pays off better, I need to go down that road. “I’ve got a lot of scars and wounds but not a lot to show for it. It’s like, ‘Do you want to keep destroying your body?’ I love fighting. But it’s like you wake up one day – and I’m almost 32 years old now – and you say, ‘What have I really done? What’s the legacy I’ve left for my child and my family, other than do you want to watch me on YouTube? You want to watch me on Spike TV?’

Paul Daley - GSP will Lose & Koscheck will get KTFO
(punchdrunkgamer.com)
Paul Daley “Semtex Ready to Explode on Koscheck”

PDG: Obviously fighters like to hype fights; here what Josh had to say in recent interview: "I plan on rearranging them teeth in his mouth. He already has those braces and those messed up teeth. So maybe we'll put some railroad spikes in there." Is this just hype or is there really bad blood between the two you? Paul Daley: Koscheck is just hyping the fight up. He isn’t the man behind those words and that is unfortunate for him because I am the man behind the words when I say that I am going to knock him the **** out.

UFC Quick Quote: Joe Rogan has a meltdown during 'Ice-gate'
(mmamania.com)
"Oh we got a problem, somebody spilled ice all over the Octagon. That's a big problem, that's a lot of ice. This is gonna take some time. This is a disaster. Look at it, they knocked the bucket over. This is "The Three Stooges." What are you freaks doing? Now everybody's booing. Now there's even more pressure. Now they're sweeping it out. That's good. Put it on the side and watch [Octagon girl] Arianny (Celeste) fall on her head. There's still ice! There's still too much! GET BACK IN THERE! YOU'RE NOT DONE! THERE'S ICE ALL OVER THE FLOOR!
