Fedor Emelianenko: Fight with Randy Couture “Will Take Place”
(mmajunkie.com) Randy Couture wants the fight. Fedor Emeliananeko wants it too. And according to the top-ranked Russian fighter, he fully expects the heavyweight battle to happen sometime soon.
While being interviewed for Monday’s “Yarennoka!” event in Japan, Emeliananeko was asked about the likelihood of him facing Couture in the next year. Couture, the UFC’s heavyweight champion, resigned from the organization in October but has recently stated that he wants to fight Emeliananeko. The 44-year-old UFC hall-of-famer says it’s the one final thing he wants to accomplish before he retires.
Emelianenko loves the idea.
Not too much new here, just more to support that this fight will indeed take place post Oct of this year. Maybe another Yarranoka style event on New Years Eve with Randy/Fedor headlining?? If they do get these two together this time it will happen in the US so we don't have to stay up all night to watch it

Finding Fedor
(sherdog.com) To really understand a man and the choices that he makes, you have to know where he comes from.
Beyond his public image, beyond your own projecting, you have to understand his place in the world. You have to understand how he has been influenced by the physical and psychological manifestations of his country's politics. Most importantly, you have to know his outlook on life.
It's easier said than done. Real understanding is often all but impossible
The Year in European MMA
(sherdog.com) 2007 was an outstanding year for European MMA. The UFC returned to the U.K. for the first time in almost three years. Meanwhile Fedor Emelianenko, arguably the strongest fighter to ever grace a ring, was scarce inside the squared circle but still dominated the headlines.
Last but not least, there was a tremendous power shift on the European scene when longtime powerhouse promotions Cage Rage and M-1 Mix-Fight Championship were sold to American companies ProElite and Sibling Entertainment Group respectively.

Year-end MMA a Japanese tradition (story from Yahoo! Sports)
(mmajunkie.com) Unless you understand the Japanese fighting culture, the New Year’s Eve match-up that pits Fedor Emelianenko, the Yahoo! Sports No. 1 pound-for-pound mixed martial arts fighter in the world, against the 7-2 1/2, 355 pound “Techno Goliath,” Choi Hong-man of South Korea, would seem to make no sense.
But MMA fighting in Japan is part of a world of fantasy, where key promoters idolize World Wrestling Entertainment chief Vince McMahon and learn from Japanese pro wrestling organizations. Almost the only reality of MMA in Japan is what happens between the bell.
On no night is that more evident than New Year’s Eve, which has, over the past seven years, become a cultural tradition as the biggest fighting night of the year.
