Controversial Andrei Arlovski Interview: Watch it Here!
(fiveouncesofpain.com)
Back in the day, before anybody read us, we used to post whatever we wanted. All kinds of crazy stuff. Then, we actually got an audience and we started to hear the lectures: “You can’t post that stuff! This site is considered legitimate!” or “You should be ashamed of yourselves. You have a responsibility based on your status not to cross the line.” We took a lot of that stuff to heart and changed our approached for the most part. However, we try to have a little fun every now and then and when we do, people freak out. I still don’t think some people have let go of the Edith Larrente post we did a while back. Whatever. So while we usually try to stay high-brow, that’s not always going to be the case. Some things are just too good not to call to your attention, such as the below video of Ariel Helwani of MMARated.com interviewing Andrei Arlovski. Arlovski used to date Patrycja Mikula until the two broke up (which is usually the case when people break up). Then there were rumors that Mikula and Tim Sylvia were involved when the two were seen together during Adrenaline MMA’s first show. The whole Sylvia and Mikula rumor was never confirmed but it wasn’t really ever denied. So towards the end of the interview, Ariel decided to go straight to one of the sources and try and get the scoop. Arlovski said he didn’t care and didn’t want to talk about it. Then, Ariel got a very humorous answer regarding a question Arlovski has for Sylvia that might not be safe for work. Maybe I just have a juvenile sense of humor, but the line, as well as the delivery, still have me cracking up. In fact, it keeps getting more funny every time I watch it.

Josh Barnett talks Anthony "Rumble" Johnson, Aleksander Emelianenko
(fightlinker.com)

Anthony Johnson claimed in a recent interview he got the better of me in wrestling and that this was his validation for being a great wrestler in MMA. I won’t lie and say he didn’t get a takedown or that he doesn’t have good wrestling skills because he did and he does. But he glossed over the most important part: You don’t run your mouth about what happens in practice. Punks and the weak of heart do that. He came in last while I was running the gauntlet with guys in sparring and even then 1) I took him down more than he did me 2) I suplexed him on his head 3) and tapped him out. But I wasn’t happy with my performance so I said let’s go again. Only it turned out “Rumble” didn’t want to spar but run a marathon. He threw one punch and just ran the whole time. High accomplishments indeed. I guess he’s in San Jose now but hopefully they are more accepting of him than we are at CSW; because bitches need not apply here.

MMA prodigy boasts lifetime of experience -- at age 14
(sports.espn.go.com)
IRVING, Texas -- Drake Dudley tries to not move his face while his father smears it with Vaseline, but something across the ring is troubling the young fighter. "He's wearing small gloves," Drake says, his voice distorted by his mouthpiece. "He's wearing the same ounces as you -- 14s," says his father, Kirk. Smaller gloves would mean less padding over the other boy's fists. "Should I circle more or go inside?" Drake asks. "Try to hold your center of the ring," Kirk says. "Always look for your strength shot." Drake nods.

Hideo Tokoro Involved in Car Accident
(bloodyelbow.com)
Not a good week for mixed martial artists and automobiles. Thankfully, Hideo Tokoro's incident yesterday didn't result in his arrest and, according to Kamipro, was only a minor fender bender. Unfortunately, it sounds like it may keep him out of his upcoming bout with Takeshi Yamazaki. Translation from SukiMMA: Hideo Tokoro, who was recently announced his participation to DREAM 5 on July 21, had an car accident on July 16. He was on the way going to see his doctor for check-up. He was ran into from behind and suffered an injury on his back that would take a week to heal completely.

Miami New Times Rips MMA.... Calls it "Gay"
(miaminewtimes.com)
"A trio of women in their midtwenties is huddled in a dark booth in a corner of Gatsby's (8575 SW 124th Ave., Miami, 305-412-2220). Most of the bar is amped, but these women sit far from all the beer and chest pounding. Staring quietly at a cartoonish Britto-inspired mural, they curl their stiff fingers around the stems of sweating martini glasses. Our husbands forced us to come," says a mousy blonde with the stylized Hispanic accent you find only in Miami's suburbs. On a gargantuan screen, two fighters roll around on the floor, twisting each another into a knot of slippery, glistening flesh. One wraps his muscular legs around his opponent's rippled waist. It's the Ultimate Fighting Championship — "human cockfighting" to John McCain, and one of the most popular things on cable. "It's gay," all three women say as they roll their eyes in unison.

Alexandre “Pequeno” Nogueira: It Was the Goat’s Fault…
(mmaontap.com)
After testing positive for steroids under the watch of the California State Athletic Commission, one-time featherweight king Alexandre “Pequeno” Nogueira will now have to wait until next summer to be able to fight again, and it might actually be a goat’s fault according to the Brazilian. In a recent interview with Tatame Magazine, Nogueira alleges that the positive test may have stemmed from tainted meat, from a cow or goat, that he ate in a restaurant while traveling and doing seminars prior to his loss to Jose Aldo at WEC 34 last month. “I never used anything and should not use this type of rough steroid,” Nogueira said in the interview. “If I used something it would be growth hormones, which is what every top athlete usually uses. I took the usual supplements - Glutamine, Creatine and Myoplex.”

Marc Ratner on New York
(mmapayout.com)
MMA has seen the dominoes of regulation tumble in a fairly smooth fashion as an increasing number of states are looking to cash in on the sport's increased popularity. Recently, states like Arizona and Tennessee have joined the fold. One noted stumbling block in the wave of regulation has been the State of New York. Recent efforts to get MMA regulated in the state by the end of this year failed when a bill to regulate the sport was unable to make it out of committee to be voted on. Marc Ratner recently spoke with Tristatefighter.com about the bill's defeat and what may be needed to be done to get the bill passed:
