Yves Edwards Ready for Title Shot, Permanent Move to ATT
(mmajunkie.com)After a stunning flying knee knockout of Edson Berto (13-5-1) at this past weekend’s EliteXC event, lightweight veteran Yves Edwards (33-13-1) is looking for one thing in his next fight: a shot at gold.
“I want to be the champion,” Edwards said. “I want to have gold… I can’t think of any other guys in (EliteXC), I guess, in my spot right now. I definitely want a shot at (the title). I think I deserve it.“
Edwards has earned title-shot consideration with three straight victories in the last three months. Edwards credits his recent success to his decision to begin training at American Top Team — a decision he made after dropping five of six fights in the previous two years.
Diaz To Fight Corbbrey At April EXC Event
(mmamania.com)Muhsin Corbbrey, a ShoXC veteran with a 6-2 record, has reportedly signed a deal to fight former UFC veteran Nick Diaz at the EliteXC event on April 26. This would be Diaz' first fight since having eye surgery following his loss to KJ Noons.
Noons refuses rematch with Diaz
(graciefighter.com) KJ Noons has refused a rematch with Nick Diaz. Noons won the EliteXC title after defeating Diaz by doctor's stoppage due to a cut. Diaz subsequently went in for plastic surgery after a specialist determined that the sharpness of the bones above his eyes would lead to more cuts and make it impossible for him to pursue a successful MMA career. The surgery was a complete success.
EliteXC suggested a rematch just as the UFC had when Vitor Belfort defeated Randy Couture for their title due to a cut, however KJ and his camp have now responded that they do not want anything to do with a rematch. Diaz will still be fighting at the event against another EliteXC fighter, most likely Muhsin Corbbrey (6-2).
Buenetello Calls Out Kimbo
(mmaweekly.com)On a radio show Monday night, Paul Buenetello not only confirmed his appearance on the 3/29 Strikeforce/EliteXC event, but said that after that fight he wants Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson as his next opponent.
Carano Unsure Of Next Fight
(mmaweekly.com)There have been rumors that EliteXC fighter and "American Gladiators" star Gina Carano could have her next fight on the EXC/Strikeforce joint event in March, but with American Gladiators picked up for another season Carano is now unsure when her next fight will be. If she's brought back for AG season 2, taping likely would be in March and April.
'Street Certified' Now Weight Certified
(sherdog.com)Neither Kimbo Slice nor Tank Abbott went street Friday evening.
The brawling heavyweights, who headline Saturday's Showtime-televised EliteXC card from the United Bank Center on the campus of the University of Miami, joined 20 other fighters in making weight at a local Holiday Inn.
All remained quiet on the 305 front as Abbott momentarily locked eyes with Slice, the controversial Internet fighting sensation who has recently moved onto regulated mixed martial arts competition, before turning with a fist raised towards the small group gathered pool-side.
Slice stepped on the scale a ripped 234 pounds. Abbott, carrying his customary frame, approached the heavyweight division's limit at 263 pounds.
Silva has XXXXL expectations
(sports.yahoo.com)Antonio Silva was making the point that he feels quicker and more athletic when he's small.
But to Silva, small is a relative term. Because at 6 feet, 4 inches, 260 pounds with a size-16 shoe and fists the size of ham hocks, Silva's small is most folks' XXXXL.
And there aren't as many guys of his size and his thickness who are able to do a cartwheel, as Silva is able to do. He tried one after a recent fight as a promise to his daughter, Anne, and it turned out to be a miserable failure.
He's about the size of 2½ gymnasts combined, but defending his less-than-artistic success by pointing out that "people were coming into the ring to congratulate me and I was trying to get it done too fast before I would hit anyone."
It may be promoter Gary Shaw who does a cartwheel tonight – or at least thinks of doing one – if Silva is able to impressively defeat Ricco Rodriguez on a Showtime-televised Elite XC card at the BankUnited Center in Coral Gables, Fla.

Petruzelli out, Rinaldi in
(mmajunkie.com)Mario Rinaldi (6-2) will replace “The Ultimate Fighter 2” cast member Seth Petruzelli and will take on highly touted heavyweight prospect Dave “Pee Wee” Herman (9-0) at next weekend’s EliteXC event.
Masvidal likely to fight Melendez
(fiveouncesofpain.com)ProElite.com (SamCaplan.ProElite.com) has confirmed through Strikeforce Vice President Mike Afromowitz that BodogFIGHT lightweight competitor Jorge Masvidal is under consideration to receive a shot at the promotion’s lightweight title currently held by Gilbert Melendez on March 29 in San Jose at the HP Pavilion.
I have been hearing rumors that this fight is taking place on the March 29th card for the last few days, and now that this is announced I am fairly certain it will.

(mmafightline.com)CONFERENCE CALL QUOTES KIMBO SLICE & TANK ABBOTT, PROMOTER GARY SHAW Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2008
In a long-awaited, much-anticipated grudge match that figures to be an absolute slugfest, the incredibly popular PRIDE of Perrine, Fla., and hometown hero, Kimbo Slice, will face David “Tank’’ Abbott, of Huntington Beach, Calif., in the main event Saturday, Feb. 16, on SHOWTIME (10 p.m. ET/PT, delayed on the west coast).
It will be the second professional MMA fight for Kimbo, the legendary Internet street fighter and YouTube sensation who scored a smashing 19-second, first-round knockout in his Street-to-Elite debut. “With these hands I can part the sea. With these hands I feed the family,’’ Kimbo said.
Tank Abbott is close to finishing his autobiography about being an MMA fighter
(mmajunkie.com)Tank Abbott is close to finishing his autobiography about being an MMA fighter. During today’s call, he said he’s written 678 pages freehand and is in the process of entering it into a computer. He made no mention of a title, publisher or potential release date but was confident fans would like it. “It’s a real-life ‘Rocky’ story,” he said.
Oh yeah there is some other news about Kimbo possibly fighting Sean Gannon, the guy he lost to in one of his Internet Videos, but I thought I would post the real news in this article.
I will buy Tank's Autobiography over Hughes any day of the week, in fact I will buy this puppy the day it comes out! The man must have a million stories and is funny as hell to boot! Can't friggin wait
