Rebney: 'Ridiculously one-dimensional' champ Askren will dominate if in UFC
(mmajunkie.com)
So far, it hasn't been the same kind of controversy that Bellator MMA experienced with Eddie Alvarez's free agency. What will happen to the promotion's welterweight champion, Ben Askren, remains to be seen. But Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney believes the elite-level wrestler will continue having success if he stays or if he goes. At this point, backhanded compliments might be just part of the game...

Attila Vegh situation 'taken out of context'
(mmafighting.com)
The saga between light heavyweight contender Attila Vegh and Bellator over whether or not Vegh was being replaced for his upcoming bout with Emanuel Newton due to an injury or a "business decision" was nothing more than a miscommunication, according to Bellator's CEO Bjorn Rebney. Vegh was slated to fight Newton at Bellator 106 in Long Beach, Calif., which will mark Bellator's foray into the pay-per-view market. Things got murky when he was replaced with Muhammed Lawal, who was knocked out by Newton back in July 2012 in his promotional debut. Lawal, of course, has more star power than Vegh, and a rematch with Newton translates into better intrigue, especially with the interim belt hanging in the balance...

Joe Warren deemed medically ineligible to compete at Bellator 98 on Sept. 7 at Mohegan Sun
(mmamania.com)
Former Bellator Featherweight Champion Joe Warren has been deemed ineligible to compete by the Mohegan Tribe Department of Athletic Regulation. After reviewing the medical documentation submitted by Warren, the now Bellator Bantamweight Semifinalist will have his fight delayed until further notice. "I've been fortunate to work with one of the best commissioners in the sport in Mike Mazzulli, and after carefully reviewing Joe's medical documents, everyone agreed to err on the side of caution with the goal of ensuring our fighters safety. It was determined Joe would be unable to compete this Saturday at Mohegan Sun. Joe's been with us since the beginning and as is the case with every fighter here, it's incumbent on me to ensure Joe is 100% healthy and medically cleared to fight before he steps into the Bellator cage."
