Disgusted Gegard Mousasi brands 'jackass' Wanderlei Silva 'idiot of the year' for April Fool's Day prank
(mmamania.com) Wanderlei Silva thought he pulled the "best April Fool's Day joke ever" when he told the mixed martial arts (MMA) community that he was flying to Sweden to fight Gegard Mousasi, who thought he was left without an opponent for his UFC on FUEL TV 9 headliner this Saturday (April 6, 2013) when Alexander Gustafsson was busted open in practice.
Turns out "The Dreamcatcher" was not amused.
That might be the first time in history the usually-stoic Mousasi has ever raised his voice. The former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight Champion has likely been on an emotional roller coaster over the past few days. Once it became public that "The Mauler" was sliced open and in danger of being removed from this weekend's main event at the Ericsson Globe Arena, Mousasi has basically played the waiting game.

Wanderlei Silva says potential UFC on FUEL TV 9 slot an April Fools' prank
(mmajunkie.com) While he admits he'd like the opportunity, Wanderlei Silva today admitted he was simply pulling an April Fools' Day prank when he said he had replaced Alexander Gustafsson at Saturday's UFC on FUEL TV 9 event.
With Gustafsson's status questionable due to a recent facial cut, Silva tweeted on Monday that the UFC had contacted him about filling in and fighting light heavyweight Gegard Mousasi.
Like any good April Fools' Day joke, Silva's claim was believable enough to seem possible, despite the April 1 date. Mousasi even tweeted that he'd take the fight. Silva, though, admitted it was all a rouse...
Dan Hardy passes on surgery to correct heart ailment, says future in UFC's hands
(mmajunkie.com) After being diagnosed with a rare heart disorder, UFC welterweight Dan Hardy has decided against corrective surgery, even if it might end his fighting career.
"I don't see a reason why I would let someone go in and start messing with it," he told USA TODAY Sports and MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "That's an easy decision to make."
Hardy was barred by the California State Athletic Commission from competing April 20 at UFC on FOX 7 in San Jose when a prefight electrocardiogram revealed markers of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome. He said he'll place his fate in the hands of the UFC and should know this week whether the promotion will risk putting him in the octagon.
Most state athletic commissions likely would throw up a red flag on Hardy competing, but the UFC regulates many of its own events overseas in the absence of a commission.
