Aldo: I watched porn instead of McGregor fight
(mixedmartialarts.com)
UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor beat former title holder Jose Aldo in 13 seconds at UFC 194. When McGregor fought lightweight Nick Diaz, at welterweight, Aldo says he was otherwise occupied with a Brazilian television channel called "Sexy Hot." According to its website, "The Sexy Hot is a channel of tv adult Brazilian, marketed as subscription or pay-per-view in operators of pay TV. Is the first channel with adult content (erotic and sex explicit) of the Brazilian television. The programming is directed to public hardcore and straight." Aldo appeared Sunday night on the Brazilian language television show Extra Ordinarios, and prior to the interview, told a Combate reporter that the night before, he was watching the porn channel instead of the title fight.

Conditioning coach: Nate Diaz was basically coming off couch for Conor McGregor
(mmajunkie.com)
When Nate Diaz told UFC President Dana White he was in shape for a short-notice fight with Conor McGregor at UFC 196, he was mostly being truthful. When he said he was training for a triathlon, that wasn’t technically a lie. Diaz is always active in some way or another. Just three months ago, the UFC veteran had put in a solid training camp for a pivotal fight with Michael Johnson at UFC on FOX 17, and the benefits of his hard work were still present. It just so happened that wasn’t the full story. An Instagram post today on Diaz’s official account told the more truthful one about his readiness for this past Saturday’s UFC 196. According to a video posted by the now-victorious welterweight, he was shooting tequila on a yacht in Cabo San Lucas, “gettin my chillax on wit my dudes … before I got the call.”

Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh says, if it were up to him, a rematch with Jose Aldo would be next
(mmafighting.com)
Even in defeat, Conor McGregor managed to come off as an asset to the sport following Saturday night’s main event against Nate Diaz. McGregor said he would take the loss "on the chin," but that he would be back. He held his head high and answered every question directed at him. And in the end, he lived by his word of being "humble in victory or defeat." Same goes for his coach at SBG Ireland, John Kavanagh, who was a guest on Monday’s edition of The MMA Hour. Kavanagh reiterated McGregor’s words about picking himself up and moving on. Yet when asked what the next move would be for the Irish firebrand — who is just a couple of years has become one the UFC’s most marketable stars — he said he wasn’t sure just yet.

Joanna Jedrzejczyk on filming TUF with Claudia Gadelha: 'I think I broke her already'
(mmafighting.com)
Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Claudia Gadelha almost stole the show at the "Unstoppable" press conference before UFC 196. UFC president Dana White had to send security to get between them on the dais and then White had to forcefully separate the two women during a faceoff. White then explained later that night at the EA Sports UFC 2 video game launch party at Mandalay Bay that just a few days earlier Jedrzejczyk and Gadelha got into a "full-blown fist fight" after The Ultimate Fighter 23 filming wrapped up. The two women are coaching against one another on the show, which will being airing April 20 on FOX Sports 1.

Roy Jones Jr's opponent announced, Tank Abbott vs Dan Severn set for UR Fight
(bloodyelbow.com)
After an initial campaign in which a fan would be selected online to fight boxing great Roy Jones Jr, UR Fight, the organization holding the event, faced the obstacle of being forced to ensure that the selected opponent had to have a professional record. Well, that hurdle has been cleared. Sort of. Enter MMA fighter Vyron Phillips, a native of Minnesota that's been living and training in Western Canada and is ranked #44 in the listing for Canadian welterweights according to Tapology. This bout is purportedly a boxing match, with a potential $100,000 prize for the challenger were he to defeat the former multiple time boxing champion. While UR Fight has announced the matchup, there doesn't seem to be any indication by the state athletic commission regarding whether or not this fight would be approved since Phillips does not seem to have any professional boxing experience.

Holly Holm wants quick return after title loss, would 'love' Miesha Tate rematch
(mmajunkie.com)
Holly Holm said complacency led to her downfall and the loss of her UFC women’s bantamweight title to Miesha Tate on Saturday at UFC 196. Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) suffered a crushing fifth-round submission loss to Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in pay-per-view co-headliner at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, and it couldn’t have come in more gut-wrenching fashion. “The Preacher’s Daughter” was largely in control for more than four rounds of action. Save for a point late in the second round when Tate got her opponent’s back and nearly finished with a choke, Holm kept the fight standing and picked her shots with precise striking combinations.

UFC 196 bonuses: Tate, Diaz earn some extra cash
(bloodyelbow.com)
UFC 196 was quite the event. While the first three fights on the main card went to decisions, the co-main and main event delivered in spades with crazy finishes. So it shouldn't be surprising that those fighters were rewarded for their efforts tonight in Las Vegas. It took forever for the bonuses to actually be announced because the press conference started way late, but your fight of the night was never really in doubt - Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz will take home $50,000 for their thrilling headlining bout that ended with Diaz choking out the 145 champ. In terms of individual performance bonuses, they were doled out as expected as well. Miesha Tate earned 50k for her amazing fifth-round submission win to claim the women's bantamweight championship from Holly Holm. And Diaz claimed 50k for submitting McGregor in the main event.

UFC 196 scorecards: Without finish, Miesha Tate vs. Holly Holm likely a draw
(mmajunkie.com)
Miesha Tate was arguably on her way to winning the fifth round, but if she hadn’t secured the fight-ending choke, she wouldn’t be the UFC’s new women’s bantamweight champion. In Saturday’s UFC 196 pay-per-view co-headliner at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) used a late-fight rear-naked choke to dethrone Holly Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) and claim the belt....

Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz won't be penalized by NAC for UFC 196 press conference actions
(mmafighting.com)
LAS VEGAS -- The Nevada Athletic Commission will not be reprimanding anyone following Thursday's near-scuffle after the UFC 196 press conference. "UFC president Dana White handled the situation," NAC executive director Bob Bennett told MMAFighting.com. Following the press conference, Conor McGregor punched Nate Diaz's right hand away from his face while they were squaring off for the media and fans in attendance, which almost led to a brawl. Fortunately for everyone involved, security and a whole host of UFC officials diffused the situation rather quickly. Diaz threw a kick towards McGregor in the midst of the melée, as well, but it did not land. According to his team, Diaz did not injure his hand as a result of the punch. Extra security is expected to be in place for Friday's weigh-in at the MGM Grand.
