Machida punches piece of wood "500 times a day"
(fightersonlymagazine.co.uk)
UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida debuted for the UFC in 2007 and has not lost a single round since then. The Karate master says the punch is the hardest weapon of his arsenal - he trains it exhaustively for four to five hundred times a day. “My punch is my heaviest hit and the toughest one to be defended by the opponent. I study the distance, the pace of fighting, because everybody knows how to punch. When to punch is the more difficult part. I train with a piece of wood (width 10cm, length: 1.30m) for about 400, 500 hits a day at each side. I also attack the punchbag to strengthen the movement” he said to R7 Esportes.

Wanderlei: Anderson Would ‘Destroy’ Belfort
(sherdog.com)
"Wanderlei Silva has fought Vitor Belfort and trained with Anderson Silva. Should Anderson and Belfort meet in the next UFC middleweight title fight, Wanderlei has no doubt about the result. “I believe Anderson would destroy Belfort,” he said. “I think it’s a very interesting fight. Belfort has good boxing skills and is a good athlete, but everybody knows that he has a weak psychological aspect and I think he will shake when he gets in the Octagon with (Silva).” Added Wand ironically: “Let’s see if (Belfort) will put his new karate ... I mean old karate, new for him, in practice against Anderson.”' Interesting words from a legend who currently isn't happy with Anderson Silva right now/

MFC Champ Antonio McKee: 'I'm the Best Wrestler in MMA'
(mma.fanhouse.com)
Antonio McKee has been known to fight a methodical (safe) style due to small paydays, but now that there's more money involved, he plans on shedding his reputation of decisions at Friday's MFC 22 against Carlo Prater in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. "You're going to get a standup war in this fight," said McKee, who has been undefeated since a 2003 decision loss to Karo Parisyan. "If I lose this fight it's because I stood up and I tried to bang and I got caught." In this exclusive interview with FanHouse, McKee explains his safe fighting style in the past that sacrificed entertainment, and why he believes there is no lightweight out there that can beat him – including UFC champ BJ Penn.

David Loiseau to Try Out for 'TUF 11'
(mma.fanhouse.com)
When FanHouse spoke to David Loiseau recently about his MMA future, "The Crow" was still focused on continuing his career with the UFC despite getting cut by the organization in April. And according to Loiseau's agent, Ken Pavia, Loiseau thinks that trying out for the eleventh season of The Ultimate Fighter provides his best chance at getting back into the UFC. "He's committed to doing whatever it takes to get back into a major show, and that includes submitting an application for the next TUF season," Pavia told FanHouse on Tuesday.

"The Ultimate Fighter 11" open tryouts set for Oct. 26 in Los Angeles
(mmajunkie.com)
Middleweight and light-heavyweight fighters are invited to attend an open tryout for the upcoming 11th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" on Monday, Oct. 26. The tryouts for the UFC and Spike TV's reality series takes place at the Renaissance Los Angeles Airport Hotel in California. Although not officially announced, "TUF 11" is expected to debut in April with a live finale in June. While direct referrals (from UFC fighters and past "TUF" cast members) lead to many bookings for the show, UFC and Spike TV officials have also used the open tryouts to recruit countless additional cast members. Season-eight winner Amir Sadollah, for example, earned his way onto the show through an open tryout despite no professional record.

Rashad Evans Discusses Kimbo Slice vs. Roy Nelson: I Wanted Roy to KO Kimbo
(mma.fanhouse.com)
The Kimbo Slice vs. Roy Nelson fight that will air Wednesday night on Spike TV was set up by former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans, Nelson's coach this season on The Ultimate Fighter. And Evans said in an interview with FanHouse that he set up that fight for one reason: He wanted to see Kimbo get knocked out, and he thought Nelson was the man to do it. That wasn't intended as a slight toward Kimbo, whom Evans says he likes. It was intended as a slight toward Rampage Jackson, Evans' coaching rival, whom Evans says he desperately wanted to beat on the show -- just as he desperately wanted to beat him in the Octagon before Jackson walked away from the UFC to pursue an acting career. Jackson made Kimbo his first choice when the coaches picked their teams, and Evans said he thought Nelson was just the man to whip Jackson's first-round draft pick.

Can Pat Barry defeat his old training buddy?
(mmaweekly.com)
UFC heavyweight Pat Barry learned the hard way that there’s no substitute for experience. “It was very apparent that (grappling) wasn’t second nature to me,” the UFC heavyweight tells MMAWeekly.com. “In a (stand-up) fight, if I got stunned, I would naturally throw jabs on punches until I came back. I’m not a wrestler or jiu-jitsu guy so when I get stung... doing anything on the ground is not something that’s natural to me.”

Dan Henderson’s team expect that he will reach an accommodation with the UFC at some point - they just don’t know when. A Team Quest source told Fighters Only today that contract negotiations between Henderson and the organisation “are ongoing”. Recent reports that the two sides differ widely on certain issues are not necessarily inaccurate, the source says, but the parties are “sure it will all get worked out eventually”.
