UFC 198, Fight Night Vegas Get New Fights
A change to UFC 198 and several additions to July’s UFC International Fight Week events are in the news today, as matchmakers Joe Silva and Sean Shelby get the week off to a rousing start.
Former Ultimate Fighter standout Kamaru Usman has been forced out of his UFC 198 bout in Brazil against Sergio Moraes, setting up an all-Curitiba showdown between Moraes and Octagon newcomer Luan Chagas, a black belt in jiu-jitsu and karate, on May 14.
The July 7 event in Las Vegas that kicks off three consecutive nights of Octagon action got a jolt of new fights featuring several rising stars and seasoned vets.
Three welterweight bouts take center stage when it comes to these fight announcements, with all-action Alan Jouban facing surging Nordine Taleb, Mike “Quicksand” Pyle getting a home game against unbeaten Alberto Mina, and Alvaro Herrera taking on Vicente Luque.
Kimbo Slice-Dada 5000 Result Overturned to No Contest by Texas Commission
The result of the Bellator 149 clash between Kimbo Slice and Dhafir “Dada 5000” Harris has officially been overturned to a no-contest following Slice’s failed drug test.
The change was noted on Monday by MMAJunkie.com, reporting that Slice -- whose real name is Kevin Ferguson -- has reached a settlement with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation over his recent suspension.
Legacy FC 56 set for June 24 in Dallas with Manny Vazquez vs. Steven Peterson headliner
Legacy FC bantamweight champion Manny Vazquez puts his title on the line against Steven Peterson in the headlining bout of Legacy FC 56.
Legacy FC officials recently announced the matchup and that the event will take place June 24 at The Bomb Factory in Dallas. As with all Legacy FC events, the night’s main card airs on AXS TV.

Nick Hein injured, UFC seeks replacement opponent for Jon Tuck at Sunday's UFC Fight Night 87 event
A training injury has forced German lightweight Nick Hein out of this weekend’s UFC Fight Night 87 event, and UFC officials are currently seeking a replacement opponent for Jon Tuck.
MMAjunkie today confirmed the pending change with UFC officials.
Featuring a heavyweight headliner between former UFC champion Andrei Arlovski (25-11 MMA, 14-5 UFC) and former Strikeforce and DREAM champ Alistair Overeem (40-14-1 MMA, 5-3 UFC), UFC Fight Night 87 takes place Sunday at Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The main card airs on FOX Sports 1 following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Alan Jouban to Face Nordine Taleb at July 7 UFC Fight Night 90
The July 7 kickoff for the week of UFC 200 has a new bout, as all-action fighter Alan Jouban will meet “Ultimate Fighter” veteran Nordine Taleb at UFC Fight Night 90 in Las Vegas.
The Los Angeles Daily News first reported the welterweight contest on Tuesday. UFC Fight Night 90 takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, headlined by UFC lightweight champion defending his title against former Bellator MMA 155-pound champion Eddie Alvarez.
3-Time NCAA Wrestling All-American Jarod Trice Signs with Bellator MMA
Decorated collegiate wrestler Jarod Trice is set to embark on a mixed martial arts career with Bellator MMA.
Bellator officials on Monday announced that the organization has signed Trice to “an exclusive, multi-fight contract.” Specifics of the deal were not revealed.
Trice, a three-time NCAA Div. I All-American at Iowa State University, wrestled as a heavyweight in college but is expected to make his MMA debut at 205 pounds. In addition to his freestyle accolades, Trice is also an accomplished Greco-Roman wrestler. According to Bellator, the 27-year-old Michigan native is currently training alongside fellow wrestlers-turned-fighters Darrion Caldwell and Bubba Jenkins.
Kaline Medeiros replaces injured Mizuki Inoue at Invicta 17
A couple late changes have been made to this weekend's Invicta 17 event.
Japan's Mizuki Inoue has withdrawn from the event in Costa Mesa, Calif. due to a training injury, the company announced Monday. Taking her place in a strawweight matchup against Brazil's Aline Serio (9-5) will be Kaline Medeiros (6-4).
UFC flyweight contender Joseph Benavidez sets sights on Wilson Reis for summer bout
Two-time UFC flyweight challenger Joseph Benavidez originally planned to fight at the recent UFC 197 event, win his sixth straight fight, and call again for a title shot.
With current champ Demetrious Johnson by his side at the podium, it would have made for a nice photo op and a few stories.
“I wanted to say ‘Hey, I beat somebody else – let me fight the winner,'” Benavidez (24-4 MMA, 11-2 UFC) told MMAjunkie Radio.
With Chandler-Thomson scrapped, Bellator 154 adds Sergei Kharitonov vs. Josh Appelt
After losing one high-profile bout, officials today added some new fights to this month’s Bellator 154 lineup.
With an injury forcing Josh Thomson (22-8 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) out of a planned bout with former lightweight champion Michael Chandler (14-3 MMA, 11-3 BMMA), the organization has scrapped the matchup altogether.

Sergio Moraes needs a new opponent at UFC 198 after Kamaru Usman was forced out of their welterweight matchup.
The change was originally reported by Combate and was subsequently confirmed by MMAjunkie. Usman has been replaced by Luan Chagas.
UFC 198 takes place May 14 at Arena da Baixada in Curitiba, Parana, Brazil. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Bellator's Jordan Parsons has part of leg amputated after apparent hit-and-run accident
Bellator fighter Jordan Parsons' career is likely over after being hit by a motor vehicle in Delray Beach, Florida on Sunday morning.
Parsons, a featherweight affiliated with the Blackzilians, had the bottom half of his right leg amputated after he was apparently the victim of an apparent hit-and-run incident.
As of Sunday afternoon, he's listed in critical condition at Delray Medical Center.
Parsons, a Michigan native who had an 11-2 record (2-1 Bellator), was scheduled to fight Adam Piccolotti at Bellator 154 in San Jose on May 14. It is expected the bout will be scrapped and Piccolotti will not have a replacement opponent.
Conor McGregor Tries to Run it Back, Tells UFC to ‘Cut the Bulls**t’
The UFC has moved on from its UFC 200 spat with Conor McGregor. McGregor, however, hasn’t. He took another shot at the UFC brass on social media on Sunday, saying that “nobody gives a (expletive)” about the current slate of UFC 200 fights until Diaz vs. McGregor 2 is “settled.”

Lavar Johnson Sentenced in Domestic Abuse Case
Lavar Johnson was sentenced Friday for a severe beating he admitted to after a blow up with his girlfriend.
Pleas for a lighter sentence in the brutal beating did not convince a Fresno County judge to give the MMA fighter less time in prison.
In his defense, his attorney said Johnson is a stand-up guy who had too much to drink and was mad about his girlfriend tracking him with GPS...
Report: Doo Ho Choi set to meet Thiago Tavares at TUF 23 Finale in Las Vegas
July’s TUF 23 Finale in Las Vegas continues to build with the addition of a new featherweight matchup.
South Korea’s Doo Ho Choi (14-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) is set to take on Brazil’s Thiago Tavares (20-6-1 MMA, 10-6-1 UFC) on the card. Korean website SpoTV News first reported the booking, though the UFC has not yet made a formal announcement of the matchup.

Sunna Davidsdottir was the first female amateur fighter out of Iceland and now “Tsunami” will become the first pro fighter. The Mjölnir MMA fighter will have her debut in style, as she will do it with Invicta FC. “I´m going PRO!” posts the strawweight today at the same time Invicta made the announcement.
