“If (WSOF matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz and president Ray Sefo) come to me and say, ‘Marlon, you want to do a superfight,’ I would be able to,” he said.
WSOF has some solid champions in those divisions: featherweight Lance Palmer (10-1) and lightweight Justin Gaethje (14-0). The organization doesn’t have a flyweight champion, but that doesn’t seem to matter.
“(I’d do) 145, 155 – but not 125,” Moraes said with a laugh.
Vitor Miranda appears to have found a home in the UFC’s middleweight division, and now he has his sights set on some bigger names at 185 pounds.
Miranda (11-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC) made his way to the UFC after a stint at heavyweight on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3.” The Brazilian striker dropped to middleweight after suffering a unanimous-decision loss to Antonio Carlos Junior in the tournament final and made it two wins in a row when he stopped Clint Hester (11-5 MMA, 4-2 UFC) via second-round TKO at UFC 190, which took place this past Saturday at Rio de Janeiro’s HSBC Arena.
“I’m very happy,” Miranda told MMAjunkie following his preliminary-card bout, which streamed on UFC Fight Pass. “I thought he would exchange a little bit more in the standup, but this showed his respect for my striking game. Right away, in the beginning of the fight, he tried to take me down. He took me down, but I was confident and well-trained. I waited for the best moment to sweep and win the fight.”
After more than a half-year in limbo, ex-UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and onetime welterweight title challenger Nick Diaz finally will go before the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
NSAC Executive Director Bob Bennett today confirmed to MMAjunkie that the fighters are scheduled for their respective hearings during the commission’s Aug. 13 meeting in Las Vegas.
A meeting between women's bantamweight contenders Julianna Pena and Jessica Eye is slated for Oct. 3 at UFC 192. The UFC confirmed the bout Tuesday following an initial report by ESPN.

At the annual Convention of the Association of Boxing Commissions in San Diego, Wanderlei Silva and a host of ex-UFC fighters made a push for a Muhammad Ali act in the sport of MMA.
The last few years have really brought the idea of a possible union of MMA fighters into the forefront. While a union is unlikely at this point, one thing that fighters have been doing is looking at the idea of introducing something similar to the Muhammad Ali act for the sport of MMA.
