Good Things To Come For Ryan Bader
(mmajunkie.com)
Undefeated UFC light heavyweight Ryan Bader (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) continues to improve with each performance in the octagon, and his UFC 104 win over Eric Schafer (11-4-2 MMA, 3-3 UFC) was no exception. But while "The Ultimate Fighter 8" winner's wrestling prowess and physical tools are an obvious asset, Bader recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) his mind may finally be catching up with his body. "I felt this time I got in there, and I was relaxed," Bader said. "I think it's a good sign if I continue to do that in my next fight. I think this fight allowed me to turn a corner in my career." If Bader was feeling nervous before his previous wins over Carmelo Marrero or Vinny Magalhaes, it hardly showed. But the Arizona Combat Sports product said there was a definite difference in his mental state during his most recent contest.

Lyoto Machida undergoes surgery
(mmajunkie.com)
"He had surgery yesterday on his left hand," Soares said. "The doctor said it was a complete success." Soares said the procedure actually addressed a set of lingering issues rather than repairing something that occurred during Machida and Rua's hotly contested Oct. 24 bout in the main event of "UFC 104: Machida vs. Shogun." "Lyoto's hand has been actually injured for a while," Soares said. "Before the fight with 'Shogun,' he went to the doctor, and he went to a special surgeon in Brazil. Basically, they say said that he was going to need surgery, but he didn't want to cancel the fight. "He just roughed it through this training camp. The hand has been bothering him for quite a while now. It was one of those situations. He just roughed through it." While sharing the details of the surgery, Soares said it was important to note he was not trying to suggest Machida's hand issues in any way played a role in what many felt was a lackluster performance from the champ.

Ortiz Takes The High Road With Coleman
(mmaweekly.com)
Just a month ago, Tito Ortiz was slated to make his return to the Octagon and face UFC Hall of Famer Mark Coleman. An injury forced Coleman out of the bout, but the talk turned ugly days later when Coleman's manager got personal with an attack on Ortiz and his wife, Jenna Jameson. Mike DiSabato, Coleman's friend and manager, lashed out against Ortiz after he made a Twitter post commenting on Coleman pulling out of the fight. DiSabato went on to insult Ortiz's wife, making derogatory remarks towards her, later apologizing for his insensitive remarks.

Josh Neer Gets His Walking Papers
(cagepotato.com)
After suffering his second loss in a row and his third defeat in the last four outings, Josh "The Dentist" Neer has been released from the UFC, ending his third tour of duty inside the Octagon. It's not exactly a surprise to anyone who saw his scrap with Gleison Tibau at UFC 104 last weekend. In a fight that never was pay-per-view quality to begin with, Neer spent three rounds getting slammed on his back and embarrassing the entire state of Iowa with his poor takedown defense before losing via unanimous decision. At UFC 101 in August he suffered a similar fate against Kurt Pellegrino, who also outwrestled Neer en route to a plodding decision.

(fightersonlymagazine.co.uk)
Yoshihiro Akiyama and Yushin Okami have arrived at Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas for a month of training, and so far they are enjoying themselves immensely. The Japanese duo say the difference in training methods and partners is very refreshing. “I like how the practices aren’t long but short, hard workouts… The fighters are welcoming and friendly and as for the trainers, they are all awesome,” Akiyama told the Xtreme Couture website. “I have a hard time communicating due to my language barrier but I feel it’s beneficial for my fight career because I am able to look at their body language, learn the language and train hard.”

Dan Hardy on Swick: "Forget fight of the night, I want fight of the year"
(fightersonlymagazine.co.uk)
Dan Hardy is all focus as he prepares for his UFC 105 meeting with Mike ‘Quick’ Swick, and not even talk of a welterweight title shot against Georges St. Pierre should he win is enough to distract him from the task at hand. In fact, Hardy has two goals in mind. Beat Swick, and do it in such emphatic fashion that his critics are silenced. Some are saying that Hardy has bitten off more than he can chew with Swick, and it rankles the Nottingham man.
