Flyweights Sergio Pettis, Chris Kelades to Clash at UFC 197 on April 23
Sergio Pettis will once again share a card with his brother when he faces Chris Kelades at UFC 197 on April 23.
The UFC confirmed the flyweight pairing following an initial report from the Halifax Metro News. Former lightweight champ Anthony Pettis is slated to meet Edson Barboza in a featured lightweight tilt on the pay-per-view draw.
With free agency forthcoming, Kendall Grove heading into biggest fight of career
Kendall Grove has been on the open market before. Except that time, he didn't expect it.
In 2011, Grove dropped a unanimous decision to Tim Boetsch at UFC 130 and he was released by the promotion. Yes, the Ultimate Fighter 3 winner had lost two in a row, but the first defeat came against Demian Maia and Boetsch is a perennial top-15 fighter at middleweight.
"The UFC didn't want me and I only lost two decisions to two tough guys and they let me go for some reason," Grove said. "But that's the business. I'm not mad over it. I'm a little disappointed, but it's their company."
Joe Schilling feels like the 'cards are stacked' against him as GLORY deal winds down
Joe Schilling doesn't think he'll have many friends at the Sears Centre Arena this weekend.
It's not often that a fighter will compete for an organization when he is already set to bolt after his contract is up and everyone knows it. But that's exactly the case for Schilling when he meets Michael Lemaire at GLORY 27 on Friday night.
Schilling, the most well-known American kickboxer and fan favorite, has already inked a deal with Bellator Kickboxing and was introduced at the new promotion's introductory press conference last Friday in Houston. That contract just won't begin until he fulfills two more fights with GLORY. This particular one will come on the Superfight Series in Chicago and will air on UFC Fight Pass.
Anderson Silva hopes to fight at UFC 198 following Michael Bisping fight
Anderson Silva has said before he intends to fight four times in 2016. So far, it looks like he intends to actually do it. During a interview with ESPN in London, Silva replied he would rather fight at UFC 198, in his hometown of Curitiba, when asked if he would like to fight at UFC 200.
"I would rather fight in Brazil, in Curitiba. I hope I can fight in Brazil. If everything goes my way and it will. If everyone thinks I should fight in Brazil, I will. Let's see how this Bisping fight plays out and then we move on to the next stage."
New UFC signing's troubled past includes rape charge, battery and child abuse conviction
New Mexico-based heavyweight Cody East recently signed with the UFC after winning a Legacy FC bout in front of Dana White, but there has been plenty of controversy surrounding East's numerous violent criminal charges over the past 11 years.
The UFC recently added another heavyweight to its roster in Legacy FC's Cody East. He's reportedly scheduled to fight Walt Harris on the preliminary card of UFC 197: Cormier vs. Jones 2 on April 23rd. "The Freight Train" has been in the pros since May 2008, compiling a 12-1 record, with 11 of his victories by either knockout or submission, and his 40 second TKO of Kevin Asplund on February 5th will soon be featured on Dana White's "Lookin' For a Fight" series.
Ben Askren to Defend Welterweight Title at ONE: Global Rivals
Ben Askren returns to the cage next month to face Nikolay Aleksakhin in the main event of ONE: Global Rivals. The American will be looking to make the first successful defense of his welterweight title after two scheduled match-ups with Luis Santos last year failed to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
Askren (14-0-0-1) is a former Bellator champion, a two-time NCAA Division One wrestling champion, and a U.S. Olympian. He won the ONE belt in 2014, but saw his first defense against Santos end in a controversial no contest after the Brazilian was unable to continue due to an eye poke.

Conor McGregor opens as more than 3-1 favorite in UFC 196 main event vs. Nate Diaz
Following Tuesday’s major change in the UFC 196 main event, there’s been a major shift in the odds on Conor McGregor.
McGregor (19-2 MMA, 7-0 UFC) opened as an underdog in January when he was booked to fight lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos (25-7 MMA, 14-5 UFC). But when dos Anjos dropped out of their fight next week with a broken foot, McGregor got a new opponent: Nate Diaz (18-10 MMA, 13-8 UFC).
And against Diaz, McGregor has opened as more than a 3-1 favorite at most online sports books, according to Best Fight Odds. The price on McGregor can be found as high as -370, with the comeback on Diaz as much as +310.
That means a $100 bet on Diaz could give you a return of $410, including your original wager. A $100 bet on featherweight champ McGregor at -370 would pay out a profit of just $27.03, plus your original bet back.

Conor McGregor Faces Nate Diaz at Welterweight in New UFC 196 Main Event
UFC President Dana White on Tuesday announced that McGregor will square off against Nate Diaz in the main event of the March 5 card. The announcement comes less than 24 hours after news emerged that McGregor’s original opponent, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos, pulled out of their title fight due to a broken foot.
Due to the short-notice nature of the bout, McGregor and Diaz will compete at 170 pounds. White explained during an appearance on ESPN’s “SportsCenter” that the UFC believes this was the fight fans wanted.

Rafael dos Anjos injured, out of UFC 196 against McGregor
Rafael dos Anjos has been forced to withdraw from next week's highly-anticipated UFC 196 main event fight against Conor McGregor.
According to multiple sources, dos Anjos suffered a broken foot late last week, forcing him to pull out of the lightweight title fight against McGregor. The UFC is currently working on finding a replacement to fight McGregor on less than two weeks' notice, however, nothing has been finalized at this time.
