UFC Quick Quote: Bisping-Evans UFC 78 winner to fight Rampage for title?
First off my thoughts. Umm pretty sure this isnt a very big fight, both coming bad preformances rashad with a draw and bisping split decision. I really think these guys are undersized heavyweights. Not the main event I was looking for but I think evans will win this with his wrestling by decision. Then rampage will destory him or Bisping BUT! remember rampage and bisping are friends are they going to fight? if he wins? I guess so.
“Dana White, the UFC President, says that the winner [of the fight between Michael Bisping and Rashad Evans] will gain an automatic world light-heavweight title shot.”
– Telegraph — the “number one quality newspaper Web site” in Britain — reports that the winner of the UFC 78: “Validation” main event between Michael Bisping and Rashad Evans on November 17 will next challenge UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Rampage Jackson for his 205-pound title. UFC 78 will take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. For the most recent fight card click here.
UFC 79: BJ Penn 155-pound title fight possibly postponed
The “perfect storm” of a Randy Couture resignation, Sean Sherk steroids appeal and the long-awaited showdown between former champions Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva in December has perhaps bumped the 155-pound UFC 79 title fight that includes BJ Penn to a later date.
In fact, FightNetwork.com is reporting that it could go down in early February during SuperBowl weekend (the date Couture was supposed to defend his crown).
“The Prodigy” was penciled in for the New Year’s Eve weekend event to face either Sherk or Joe Stevenson (if Sherk is suspended) for the lightweight title. Even before that Penn was supposed to challenge “The Muscle Shark” during the main event at UFC 78 next month.
However, the current division champ tested positive for steroids following his successful title defense against Hermes Franca in July at UFC 73. He has appealed the decision and the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) will issue a ruling on October 31.
Therefore, with one title already on the line come December 29 (Matt Serra vs. Matt Hughes) and a headliner-worthy match up between Liddell and Silva also more than likely on the undercard, it’s possible that the presence of Penn on UFC 79 is unnecessary.
In fact, the eventual fight could be used to sell seats and pay-per-views (PPVs) to a show just a few weeks later.
Nothing is set in stone or official at this time. There just seems to be some musical match-making chairs going on behind the scenes that we want to pass along.
Stay tuned for more details. This picture should be cleared up after this weekend and the hearing on Halloween.
white nationalist Melvin Costa interview
I decided to contact Melvin Costa yesterday in order to get his side of the story in regarding to the recent distribution of pictures on the Internet that show Costa with a swastika on his chest.
After speaking with Costa, I briefly thought about whether I should give him a platform to express views that I think could be hurtful and offensive. However, while I didn't agree with very much of what he said, the one point where he and I are in agreement is when it comes to his assertion that he should be allowed to express his views. I called the man for comment and he gave it to me so what kind of journalist would I be if I censored it just because I don't agree with it?
FYI Costa is not a Neo-Nazi according to his own words.
He also holds a 4-0 record in KOTC
No Word on whether he has signed to a pro elite org.
Hollett and Polley Set for Extreme Cage Combat
fighters made weight Friday for ECC 6 "Hometown Heroes," scheduled for Saturday night at the Halifax Forum, but some had easier times than others.
Halifax's Roger Hollett (Pictures) looked impressive as always, stepping to the scale at 204 pounds even. However, his opponent, American Top Team's Lew Polley, didn't have such an easy time.

All of a Sudden, Brandon Vera-Tim Sylvia Is Big
On Saturday night, we will get to find out “The Truth” about Brandon Vera.
Brandon “The Truth” Vera, perhaps the biggest future hope for the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s heavyweight division, faces a giant hurdle, both figuratively and literally, in the presence of two-time former champion Tim “The Maine-iac” Sylvia before what is expected to be a sellout crowd at the U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati.
Dana White: Randy Couture ‘belongs to me’
“He definitely belongs to me…. There’s no way I was going to let anybody come in from another organization and make more money or have better deals than my guys who have been with me for a long time and helped me build this business. To be honest, I think Randy would smash Fedor. He’ll beat him easily … Fedor is over-hyped, overrated. The guy hasn’t fought anybody in the last year and a half, two years.”
UFC President Dana White emphasizes once again that Randy Couture — who recently resigned from his position as heavyweight champion — is going to have a difficult time fighting in another organization against someone like Emelianenko in nine months when his UFC contract expires.

UFC Champ Silva Arrives In Cincy
Following a delay in his visa being issued, Ultimate Fighting Championship middleweight titleholder Anderson Silva left later than usual from Brazil and arrived in town late Thursday morning.
Silva-Franklin II: Unlike Any Other
In sports, reference and comparison are inevitable. If the Patriots win another Super Bowl, they will be linked to the dynasties of the Steelers, Niners and Cowboys. If a top seed gets bounced in the first round of the playoffs, Sonics-Nuggets and Sharks-Red Wings will be mentioned. The next Cinderella that tops March Madness will be the new Villanova; the next golf king, the new Tiger; the next tennis superstar, the new Federer.
‘Hitman' Relegated to Watchman
Of the interested observers for Saturday's UFC middleweight title fight, it will be impossible for Martin Kampmann to avoid imagining what could have been.
New Martin Kampmann update. Sounds like he will be back to training hard soon.
UFC president Dana White defends MMA organization's pay structure
White maintains Couture was well compensated with a UFC contract second only to Chuck Liddell.
"Randy Couture is a multimillionaire, don't ever feel sorry for a multimillionaire, OK?" White told a news conference prior to UFC 77. "A lot of these guys are multimillionaires, they make millions and millions of dollars."
Asked about Keith Jardine, who made just US$14,000 for beating Liddell at UFC 76, White said his fighters weren't complaining - noting former champion Rich Franklin may only make $28,000 plus a $28,000 bonus if he beats title-holder Anderson Silva in Saturday night's main event.
Joe Riggs Out Of Strikeforce Tourney
Joe Riggs will not be one of the four contestants to compete in California’s first regulated four-man tournament scheduled for Nov. 16’s Strikeforce “Four Man Enter, One Man Survives” event at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
Yahoo! Sports had reported that Riggs and Falaniko Vitale were the first two fighters selected to potentially pull double duty for one night in the cage. Riggs declined the slot, however, and will seek a single fight on the card instead..............
BJ -VS- Sherk/Stevenson NOT on UFC 79 card?
Former UFC welterweight champion BJ Penn might not grace the Octagon at Dec. 29’s UFC 79 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The popular Hawaiian lightweight, who once tangled with current UFC light heavyweight fighter Lyoto Machida at heavyweight in Japan’s K-1 HERO’S, might be moved to fight a month later during UFC’s Super Bowl weekend festivities.
Penn (11-4-1) will face either UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk (31-2-1) or contender Joe Stevenson (28-7-1). On Oct. 31, Sherk appeals a yearlong suspension handed down by the California State Athletic Commission for steroid use following his successful July 7 title defense over Hermes Franca (18-6) at UFC 73 in Sacramento, Calif. If Sherk is unable to get a reduced suspension, Stevenson confirmed to The Fight Network last month that he he will step into the role if need be ...........................
