Bellator announces championship-rematch clause with move to Spike TV
(mmajunkie.com)
While fighters will continue to control their destiny in the Bellator cage, chairman and CEO Bjorn Rebney has given himself some wiggle room. The fight executive today announced a new championship-rematch clause that will go into effect with the organization's upcoming move to Spike TV. When "called for," Rebney will have the option to book title-fight rematches. Rebney said he listed to feedback and made the change. "When a fighter's earned a shot at the world title by winning The Toughest Tournament in Sports and competes in a title fight that knocks fans like us back in our seats (win or lose) delivering an incredible fight, when a rematch is called for, we will deliver it." he wrote on bellator.com. "Championship fights give us some of the greatest moments in MMA. And, rematches of incredible championship fights will give fans like us more of those electrifying moments while staying true to the world’s best fighters having had to earn their way to those title shots."

Johny Hendricks: “Boxing is not my strong point, my jiu-jitsu is better”
(cagedinsider.com)
Bold statement from the Collegiate wrestler turned knockout machine. UFC 154 marked Johny Hendricks’ fifth straight victory in the octagon, with three by way of knockout. Hendricks has now placed himself in the number one spot for a title shot, which he feels he is more than ready for. “That’s why I laugh when people say ‘we’ve figured out your left hand.’ My boxing isn’t my strong point. It’s something I’ve only been doing for five years; I’ve only been striking for five years. I’ve done wrestling my whole entire life,” Hendricks told MMAWeekly Radio. “So if anybody’s going to say anything, wrestling is my strong point. I feel my jiu-jitsu is better than my hands.”

Luke Rockhold off of January Strikeforce card with injury
(bloodyelbow.com)
After Gilbert Melendez dropped off the card last week, Strikeforce: Champions suffers more with the loss of Middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. The injury bug has hit Strikeforce again. After their last two events were cancelled the California-based promotion resolved to put together one last super card for January. The main card of the aptly named Strikeforce: Champions was meant to include defenses from their most prolific champions in Luke Rockhold (Middleweight), Nate Marquardt (Welterweight), Gilbert Melendez (Lightweight) and Daniel Cormier (Heavyweight Grand Prix). Now it's looking like Strikeforce will be lucky to call the event "Champion". Last week it came out that Gilbert Melendez was forced from his fight against Pat Healy for the second time. Friday night, The MMA Corner announced that Luke Rockhold also suffered an injury.

Score Fighting Series 7 results: Mein quickly stops Petz, Ronson batters Healy
(mmajunkie.com)
Strikeforce took a gamble by loaning out Jordan Mein, one of its top welterweight prospects, for Friday's Score Fighting Series 7 headliner. Against UFC vet Forrest Petz, he faced a heavy-handed fighter with proven knockout power. Yet, quickly in the main-event fight, it looked like anything but a risky proposition. Mein made short work Petz and battered him with punches, elbows and knees from close quarters for a quick and efficient first-round TKO victory. The bout headlined SFS 7 and took place at Hamilton Place Theatre in Ontario, Canada. The main card aired live on AXS TV. Although Petz opened up early, Mein quickly pounced with countershots and put him on the defensive with accurate strikes. The stoppage, which primarily was the result of standing elbow strikes, came at the 1:29 mark of the opening round. "I had to respect his power ... but once I landed a few elbows, I felt good," said Mein, who isn't sure if he has an immediate future in the rumored-to-be-closing Strikeforce promotion. "I'm excited and happy." Mein (26-8) is now 8-1 over his past nine fights, and the lone defeat came via close split decision to Tyron Woodley. Petz (25-10), meanwhile, snaps a four-fight win streak.

UFC President Dana White Doesn’t Think a Fighters Union Will Ever Happen
(mmaweekly.com)
In any industry that employs a vast number of people – particularly industries where there are wide differences in compensation – there is always talk of whether or not the workers should form a union to protect the interests of the masses when it seems a small group reaps the highest benefits. Talk of a fighters union has long been on the tongues of many, especially with the exploding success of mixed martial arts across the globe. It seems little effort has been made over the years to actually form a union for mixed martial arts athletes.

Dana White plans to attend Strikeforce show, disappointed with turn of events

Dana White never has been one to mince words.  In recent months, when it comes to Strikefoce, the Zuffa president has forced himself to be mum on the topic of the UFC's sibling promotion. "I don't have anything to do with them" was a common response when reporters wanted to get his take on Strikeforce.  White recently, though, admitted he's disappointed with how things have turned out for the promotion.
