Efrain Escudero Signs With Shine Fights
Although he was reportedly in talks with Strikeforce & Bellator shortly after his UFC release, Ultimate Fighter 8 winner Efrain Escudero announced today he's instead signed with Shine Fights. No date set for his debut, but based on the current plans for Shine Fights it might not be until early next year.
Georges St. Pierre Knows Josh Koscheck Better Than Josh Koscheck
So he says...and he even predicts how their UFC 124 rematch ends. "Yeah, I think he’s going to try to put me down. I also think he’s going to try to knock me out with his big right hand but I know him. I’ve been studying so much tape on him, I’ve got to the point where I know Josh Koscheck probably better than he even knows himself. My coaches have been studying him a lot. Being with him on the Ultimate Fighter for eight weeks was a way for me to know him a little bit better as a person and as a fighter.... I knew how he was before I got there. I think he was like that to get inside my head, and to keep the fans entertained. I don’t think he’s a bad person. In a way, I think that’s his way to motivate himself. He likes to be the bad guy.... [I'll ] win, that’s all I can say. Submission or knockout."
Urijah Faber Would Love A Shot At Coaching The Ultimate Fighter
The merger between the UFC and the WEC is expected to bring the featherweights and bantamweights to a whole new level of popularity and exposure, and one of the best ways to realize that will be when the first class of 145-pound or 135-pound fighters make their way to “The Ultimate Fighter” reality show.
Coker: Hendo-Sobral Winner Likely Gets Title Shot
As Dan Henderson and Renato Sobral get ready for their rematch as the main event of the upcoming Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu II show in December, the promotion has thrown a little bonus on board. The winner will get a shot at Rafael Cavalcante (Feijao) and the Strikeforce light heavyweight championship. Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed the news when appearing on MMAWeekly Radio Monday night. “Right now my feeling is Dan Henderson fights Babalu, the winner should be fighting Rafael Feijao,” said Coker. “To me I think the winner will probably be granted a title shot.”
Chad Mendes Spoon-Fed? "That's BS"
So he says in response to said accusations from his WEC 52 foe-to-be, Javier Vazquez. "I think that's BS. I don't think I've been spoon-fed at all. I've been wrestling since I was five years old. I've gone through the grind, probably harder than anything he's ever done his entire life. So getting into that, coming over into the MMA world, I feel I've trained hard so I don't really know what he's talking about."
Will Brock Lesnar FIght Roy Nelson? Or Frank Mir? Depends On Who You Ask
And the rumor mill is going both ways. Sources indicate that Lesnar is asking for Roy Nelson next, which would be Brock's first 2011 fight, but UFC may have other ideas...name one Francisco Santos Mir III...3. The series between the former UFC Heavyweight Champions is 1-1 and would be an easy sell, but nothing is close to set yet.
Nate Quarry Might Take His "Rock" And Go Home
Translation: HIs current time off after facial reconstruction surgery last year might turn into retirement. "We'll see. It's kind of nice, actually, taking this time off, waking up in the morning knowing that I don't necessarily have to get punched today and I've got so many other incredible opportunities going on, so we'll see where my career takes me. I've been fighting for 12 years, training for 14. So 12 years, that's a lot. I started with absolutely nothing, literally living the American Dream. I saw the UFC on TV when I was 24, opened up the phone book, found a gym and started training. ... I was the guy sitting on the couch watching the fights, got up, went out, joined a gym. If I can do it, anybody can because I had no athletic ability from day one. Just willing to take my beating and move forward."
Vinicius Quieroz tests positive for Stanozolol, released from UFC
Following a UFC 120 preliminary card loss to Rob Broughton, Brazilian heavyweight Vinicius Quieroz (5-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) tested positive for the banned substance Stanozolol. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) today confirmed the finding with the UFC's Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Marc Ratner.
Art 'One Glove' Jimmerson Finds an Unexpected Home with the UFC
If you ask Art Jimmerson now, he'll admit that he never thought the UFC would still be around nearly two decades from the night he stepped into the Octagon for the first and last time. He certainly never thought that, seventeen years after his short, but memorable bout with Royce Gracie at UFC 1, he'd be teaching boxing at a UFC gym in Rosemead, Calif. And yet here he is, now 47 years old and retired from boxing, sitting on some heavy bags next to a cage not so unlike the one he saw for the first time, along with the American public, in November of 1993...
Florian-Dunham Moved From UFC 126 To 1/22
According to a source close to UFC, the Kenny Florian-Evan Dunham fight originally planned for UFC 126 in February is now being moved up to the UFC event on January 22 and will likely headline the still-unannounced "UFC Fight Night 23: UFC Fight for the Troops 2" event. It'll likely air on Spike TV, though as of Monday morning, sources said details are still being finalized and that working with the military can be a "slow process" because of security concerns.
Texas "Stir Crazy" Horse: Where In The World Is Heath Herring?
With his hands seemingly tied by his current (or is it?) UFC contract, he's making ends meet however he can...in his case, acting. "There were a couple of times [since UFC 87] where the UFC wanted me to go overseas and do a fight for them, but it was tough. The UFC would do things like ask me to fight overseas but then only pay for one hotel room for me and my coaching staff. If I’m having to pay for hotel rooms, and they’re making as much money as they are on pay-per-views, it’s just not financially worthwhile for me to take that fight. I’m kind of in a weird deal with the UFC right now. Supposedly I’m free and clear, but the UFC is able to match any offer I get for a year. I’ve had some offers, but I’m not sure if the UFC would let me sign somewhere else ... I definitely miss fighting. I didn’t know anything else for 14 years, and everything I have comes from mixed martial arts. This isn’t what I’m used to doing. Sometimes it gets me down, but I’ve been in eight movies in about two years. It’s weird to not have a fight to look forward to, but I try to keep myself busy with work and have a goal to work towards. Still, sometimes it’s hard not to go stir crazy." He hasn't been seen in UFC since he pulled out of a UFC 99 fight against Cain Velasquez due to illness.
Ryan Couture Off SF Challengers 12
Ryan Couture's 2nd pro MMA fight had to be scratched about as soon as it came together. Just recently Strikeforce secured Juan Zapata as an opponent for Couture on the 11/19 Strikeforce Challengers 12 event, but Couture is now off due to a lingering staph infection. No word yet on if they'll try to find a replacement. Couture, the son of UFC Hall Of Famer Randy Couture, is expected to be out 3-4 weeks.
Mike Swick vs. David Mitchell Slotted for UFC Fight for the Troops 2
Mike Swick is expected to return after nearly a year out of the game to face David Mitchell in his sophomore effort in the Octagon at the UFC event in Fort Hood. Sources confirmed that both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout. They will fight in the welterweight division.
UFC 123 Prelims: Matt "The Immortal" Brown vs Brian Foster
A welterweight bout between Matt Brown (13-9 MMA, 4-3 UFC) and Brian Foster (14-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) now is official for next month's UFC 123 event. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) first reported the fighter earlier this month after an injured Rory MacDonald opened the door for Foster. UFC executives since have made it official for the Nov. 20 card, which takes place at the Palace of Auburn Hills in suburban Detroit The night's main card airs on pay-per-view, but Brown vs. Foster is part of the night's "UFC Prelims" PPV teaser on Spike TV.
Pedro Rizzo vs. Tim Sylvia - Winner Gets UFC Contract
"Dana White mentioned that the winner should get another chance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship." "As the date hasn’t been set, it’s just a verbal agreement, so I’m getting back to light training. But I want to have a good performance. Who knows? Maybe I’ll manage a return to the UFC. I feel really comfortable fighting in that Octagon. I feel leaving there was the biggest mistake of my career, my great regret."

UFC To Return To Brazil In November 2011
For the first time in 13 years, the UFC will make it's way to Brazil. Sources confirmed the news with Graciemag. The November event is scheduled to take place at the HSBC Arena in Barra da Tijuca. An exact date is not yet set.
Jon Fitch vs. Jake Ellenberger targeted for UFC 126 in February
A welterweight matchup between perennial contender Jon Fitch (23-3 MMA, 13-1 UFC) and Jake Ellenberger (23-5 MMA, 2-1 UFC) is on tap for UFC 126's pay-per-view card. Sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that at least one fighter has agreed to the fight and that bout agreements are in the process of being finalized. UFC 126 takes place Feb. 5 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and is expected to feature a middleweight title fight between reigning champion Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort.
Natural Born Contender? Carlos Condit Ready For A "Great Fight" Against Jon Fitch
Although it's not definite that it happens next, Condit thinks it could be a good tune-up fight for a certain Canadian juggernaut. "In [the Hardy fight], I felt as comfortable as I’ve ever felt in the cage. I feel like I’m coming into my prime now. It’s now or never if I’m going to get that belt around my waist. I’m going to give it my best effort and train as hard as I can, and these next couple of fights will probably define my career ... I think Fitch, that would be a great fight. I think his game plan would be similar to (GSP’s) game plan. Wrestler probably try to take me down, and if I could deal with that then that is maybe a marker for how I might do in a title match ... I’d have to work my butt off, but I like a challenge."
