Josh Koscheck and Dan Hardy Build Some Heat at UFC 106
Koscheck seemed to feed off the crowd’s anger, destroying the bigger Johnson standing and outwrestling him to boot. On one memorable (yet somehow failed) takedown attempt, Koscheck drove Johnson into the cage so fast and hard that they might have ended up in California without the Octagon to stop him.

Anthony Johnson: After I hurt Koscheck, he needed some kind of excuse to recover
"I didn't hit him in the head, I hit him in the arm. I don't know why he would act like [that], I guess he was gassing. That's the only thing I can think of, [him] trying to find some kind of excuse to complain. I know I didn't hit him in the head. I thought I timed it perfect but I didn't and that's my fault. After him poking me in the eye it made a big difference. Then he did it twice and got both eyes the second time because when he swings, he jabs with his open hand and the right didn't even hit me, it was just the open palm strike and my eyes, my eyes are burning like hell right now. After I hurt him, he needed that, he needed some kind of excuse to recover, but it's all good."

Billy Evangelista Continues Strikeforce Rise
At 10-0 (with one no contest), Billy Evangelista has repeatedly risen to every challenge Strikeforce has given himFrom undercard status to headlining the Challengers Series events, Evangelista’s rise has been steady and it now appears he’s ready to step up to the next level. With his win earlier this month over the always tough Jorge Gurgel, Evangelista proved he could beat a veteran fighter, even under circumstances that had him decidedly less than 100-percent. “As far as my performance, I wasn’t really conditioned for the fight,” Evangelista admitted to MMAWeekly.com. “I pulled my groin about a month before and I was trying to heal up, but I didn’t even get a chance to do a lot of exercise, but regardless I think I did well for the fight that I did.”

"The Ultimate Fighter 11" coaches? Tito Ortiz wants to coach opposite Forrest Griffin
LAS VEGAS – With the 11th season of the UFC's reality series set to begin taping in just two months, one hopeful has already pleaded his case for a coaching slot. And he has an additional fighter in mind for the rival team.Soon after a close split-decision loss to Forrest Griffin in the main event of Saturday's UFC 106 event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Tito Ortiz said he and Griffin should take the slots and then meet in a season-ending fight that would serve as the duo's rubber match."It'd be awesome," Ortiz said. "We'd break records with that one."Ortiz and Griffin first met in 2006. Ortiz picked up a split-decision win and delivered the "TUF 1" champion his first loss in the octagon. Three years later, with a UFC 106 headliner between heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar and challenger Shane Carwin scrapped and in need of a main event, UFC officials promoted the co-headliner between Ortiz and Griffin to the top spot.

UFC 106 Aftermath: End of Night Bonuses, Griffin vs. Ortiz III + More
Though Josh Koscheck and Dana White have reportedly butted heads in the past, it's clear that Kos is back on DW's good side. For his second-round submission of Anthony Johnson at UFC 106 last night, Koscheck picked up both the $70,000 Submission of the Night bonus, and a $70,000 Fight of the Night bonus (which Johnson also received). As Dana White explained, "I have to publicly say that [Koscheck] always steps up, always wants to fight, fights the best in the world, and I’m blown away with his performance tonight." Still, is that enough justification to reward the chaotic mess that Koscheck vs. Johnson turned out to be?

UFC Possibly To Mexico In 2010, But Not In April
Rumors of UFC heading to Mexico in 2010 have been circulating for some time, but last night Dana White partly shot down those rumors. He said they are trying to get to Mexico City in 2010, but a rumored April date will not happen. It's simply too early. Dana also mentioned other possible plans as well as one target city to visit by name-Detroit.

GSP-Hardy, Not Silva-Akiyama, May Headline UFC 110
The potential constant shuffling of upcoming UFC cards continues. During an appearance on MMAJunkie's radio show Friday night, Dana White revealed that plans for Yoshihiro Akiyama vs. Wanderlei Silva to headline UFC 110 in Australia "might change". And Dana possibly tipped hsi hand on a replacement headilner at Friday's UFC Fight Club Q&A-Georges St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy. A fan asked when that fight might take place and Dana said February appeared likely...but not February 6 (109 in Vegas) because of Anderson Silva vs. Vitor Belfort.

UFC 106's Phil Baroni striving to be "a poor man's Josh Koscheck"
LAS VEGAS – Welterweight Phil Baroni (13-11 MMA, 3-5 UFC) has been on the big stage before. Whether it was Baroni's previous eight-fight run in the UFC or his sequin-robed waltz down the EliteXC entrance ramps on CBS, the "New York Bad Ass" is no stranger to public attention. But as Baroni prepares for a return trip the world-famous octagon, the 33-year-old is shedding some of his previous antics in favor of a new title: a poor man's Josh Koscheck. "I plan on being like a poor man's Josh Koscheck," Baroni recently told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com). "I'm staying in shape. When anybody gets hurt, Koscheck's raising his hand. He wants to fight him. There are guys not as good as Koscheck, not ranked as high as Koscheck, that he can't do that against. I'll be the poor-man's Josh Koscheck.

Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen middleweight bout set for UFC 109 (not UFC 110)
A bout between middleweight contenders Nate Marquardt (29-8-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC) and Chael Sonnen (24-10-1 MMA, 3-3 UFC) originally believed to be part of the UFC 110 card in Australia instead takes place in Las Vegas at UFC 109. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) learned of the booking from sources close to the fight, though it's unclear if bout agreements have been finalized. UFC 109 takes place Feb. 6 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and airs on pay-per-view. MMAjunkie.com passed along a report earlier this month from sportsnet.com, which first reported the possibility of the fight. However, at the time, the fight was believed to be targeted for UFC 110, which takes place later in the month. Instead, it'll be part of the UFC's Super Bowl weekend card.

Ready to 'Rumble': Josh Koscheck UFC 106 interview
Josh Koscheck is a man people love to hate. At this point it's safe to say he's embraced his role as the bad guy and continues to use it to fuel his fire. Baseball Hall-of-Famer Reggie Jackson once said, "Fans don't boo nobodies," and that statement rings true with regards to Koscheck as well. "Kos" is a legitimate top ten welterweight contender and has been for some time. Lately, however, he's been on a bit of a roller coaster going 2 - 2 in his last four fights and alternating wins and losses. Most recently he registered a first round knockout of Frank Trigg at UFC 103. The UFC then scheduled him to fight Mike Pierce at UFC Fight Night 20 on January 11, 2010, but as it turns out, it was only a temporary matchup. When a couple high profile fights dropped like flies off the upcoming UFC 106 card an opportunity presented itself and he jumped at the chance to face up-and-comer Anthony "Rumble" Johnson in the co-main event. A win could have him knocking on the door of a potential title shot, but it will certainly not come easy. Koscheck took some time out of his busy schedule to discuss calling out Matt Hughes, Josh Thomson's conflict of interest, and all things Anthony Johnson.

Shane Carwin & Cain Velasquez have been in talks regarding meeting for the Interim UFC Heavyweight Championshp, but this fight may now be halted. The culprit? A potential baby-they're targeting UFC 110 in Australia on February 21 for the fight, but that's around the time Carwin's wife is expecting. The due date is February 11, about when Carwin would have to leave for 110.
