Cain Velasquez:The Last Man Standing
(mmaweekly.com)
At this point, Cain Velasquez might be the only healthy fighter on the UFC’s heavyweight roster.Velasquez, 27, has seen the division’s landscape alter drastically since his dominating TKO win over Ben Rothwell at UFC 104.The American Kickboxing Academy fighter’s peers – Brock Lesnar, Shane Carwin, and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira – have all been shelved due to injuries or illness, the last of which robbed him of a possible contender slot when Nogueira got a staph infection and withdrew from their meeting at UFC 108.

Report: Elvis Sinosic meets Chris Haseman at UFC 110 in Australia
(mmajunkie.com)
"The King of Rock n Rumble" will reportedly fight again for the UFC. Longtime MMA veteran Elvis Sinosic (8-11-2 MMA, 1-6 UFC) meets countryman Chris Haseman (20-16 MMA, 0-1 UFC) at UFC 110 in Australia according to a report from the Brisbane Times. The UFC has yet to officially schedule any contests for the as-yet-unannounced event, which is expected to take place Feb. 21 at Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) could not immediately verify the report. Despite limited success in the octagon, Sinosic fights for the eighth time inside of the octagon. The 38-year-old defeated Jeremy Horn in his 2001 debut for the promotion at "UFC 30: Battle in the Boardwalk," though Sinosic then lost three-straight bouts to Tito Ortiz, Evan Tanner and Renato "Babalu" Sobral.

Bisping looks to bring in “Rampage” as his secret weapon
(mmabay.co.uk)
Speaking from his home in the UK, Bisping said when asked about his preparations: Fingers crossed we’re going to get “Rampage” out for the training camp as well. Obviously that’s not confirmed yet but we’re going to work on that and hopefully we can get “Rampage” over for the camp. Obviously after fighting him three times no one’s going to know him better than “Rampage” so I should have a definite insight into Wanderlei.”

Ben Saunders Wants Rematch With Swick
(mmaweekly.com)
Fresh off his knockout win over Marcus Davis at UFC 106, Ben Saunders would like to avenge the only loss on his record by getting a rematch with Mike Swick. “I would love a rematch with Mike Swick,” Saunders told MMAWeekly.com content partner TapouT Radio. “If it was up to me, without a doubt Mike Swick would be my next fight. I would get that loss off my record.” Saunders was defeated by Swick at UFC 99 in June by technical knockout, but the Floridian revealed he had injuries going into the fight and would like the opportunity to compete against American Kickboxing Academy trained Swick under different circumstances.

Rogers won round 1 and should have finished Fedor on the ground
(punchdrunkgamer.com)
In this MMA Access feature, Mike Reilly from Team Bison (Brett Rogers’ head trainer) talked with PDG about Brett’s main event fight in Strikeforce, the training leading up to the fight and what is next for the formerly undefeated heavyweight.

PDG: You mentioned that before; that even though none of Brett’s fights had gone to the ground you guys had been working on his ground game extensively. Mike Reilly: That is my background and is really the base for a lot of the things that we do during training. Brett has very good round skills, he is extremely difficult to submit and so we weren't surprised at all about how Brett performed on the ground during the first round. We knew that Fedor’s best option was to stay in the half guard because if he made any effort to gain the full mount he would have been reversed. Brett did a good job getting back to the guard, reversing and then landing a couple of good shots. I think part of the problem in this fight was that our game plan consisted more of the standup game and maybe we should have surprised Fedor with more of an emphasis on the ground game.

Dana White vlog: Griffin apology caught on video
(bit.ly)
Cagewriter told you about Forrest Griffin's apology to Anderson Silva just after his win over Tito Ortiz. After getting knockout by Silva back at UFC 101, Griffin sprinted from the cage. On Saturday night, he told Silva he meant no disrespect (7:53 mark). It's more proof of the sportsmanship often exhibited but rarely covered in mixed martial arts. Even Phil Baroni is seen clowning on himself for taking a beating (5:09 mark). sorry if this is already posted. I looked for it first.

Did Tito Ortiz's return lead to Dan Henderson's possible UFC departure?
(mmajunkie.com)
With his vicious knockout of Michael Bisping at UFC 100, Dan Henderson fulfilled the terms of his previous contract, and a new one doesn't seem likely. After butting heads with UFC president Dana White, who said Henderson's contract demands were "unrealistic," the veteran fighter could sign with a rival organization, most notably Strikeforce. "The [expletive] that Dan came in and said in my office and what he wants, it's unrealistic, and he knows it," White said. "And it's basically based off of, 'I heard this guy is making this, and I heard this guy made (this much).' Basically, what everybody gets pissed off about is Tito. 'Oh, I heard Tito is making all this money, and Tito is this and that.' And it's because Tito likes to go out there and stay stuff like that or somebody in his camp did.

The Gold Rush - Who Will challenge St-Pierre?
(bit.ly)
The queue to challenge UFC welterweight champion Georges ‘Rush’ St-Pierre isn’t so much of an organised line as it is a communal gathering. There is little order, no hierarchy, and only a few dwellers are forthcoming. Aside from a brave few, nobody seems to be in any ‘Rush’ to fight one of the most dominant champions in mixed martial arts today.

Anthony Johnson Passed Out Prior to UFC 106 Weigh-Ins
(heavy.com)
UFC welterweight Anthony Johnson is a gigantic man. His typical walk-around weight is somewhere between 215 and 220 pounds, the same weight that many UFC light heavyweight fighters maintain when not in training camp. That's the same weight Randy Couture is currently maintaining. The difference, of course, is that Johnson fights at welterweight, meaning he undergoes a 45lb weight cut for fight weigh-ins. Johnson has struggled making weight as of late. In September, he came in six pounds over the 171 pound limit for his bout with Yoshiyuki Yoshida after attempting a new form of weight cutting that involved drinking water and eating very little food in the week leading up to his fight. That method obviously did not work out, as Johnson was completely spent in the days leading up to the fight. He had to be carried to weigh-ins the day before UFC 104, and could barely summon the energy to even climb the stairs leading to the scales.

Dana White: I tried to help ex-UFC fighter Karo Parisyan "several times" in past
(mmajunkie.com)
Nearly a week has passed since Karo Parisyan pulled out of UFC 106 and subsequently received his walking papers from the organization. UFC president Dana White first announced Parisyan's withdrawal from his main-card bout with Dustin Hazelett on the eve of the Las Vegas show. And while White said he had "no idea" the veteran welterweight fighter was going to pull out of the show, he said he had tried to help Parisyan with his troubles numerous times in the past. "Karo Parisyan has a lot of personal problems – mental, emotional, physical," White told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) over the weekend. "He's got all kinds of problems."

UFC cuts welterweight Brock Larson following UFC 106 loss
(mmajunkie.com)
With a TKO loss to Brian Foster at this past weekend's UFC 106 event, UFC welterweight Brock Larson will now look for work outside the organization. The veteran fighter today confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he was cut from the UFC's roster following the Nov. 21 defeat. Larson leaves the organization with a 26-4 record, which included a 3-3 mark in the UFC and a 4-1 record in the WEC.
