Sean Santella out of UFC 201 bout with Wilson Reis, Hector Sandoval steps in as replacement
(mmafighting.com)
Again, Wilson Reis has a new opponent for UFC 201. The UFC announced on Monday that promotional newcomer Hector Sandoval will be taking on the flyweight contender. Reis was originally scheduled to fight for the UFC flyweight title against champion Demetrious Johnson at UFC 201, but Johnson pulled out of the fight last week citing injury. Just days after it was reported that the flyweight champion was out of the title bout, the UFC made public that promotional newcomer Sean Santella would be stepping up on short notice to fight the Brazilian flyweight. However, on Monday the UFC announced yet another change in opponent, stating that Santella was unable to gain proper medical clearance, and that UFC newcomer Hector Sandoval will be fighting Reis instead.

Urijah Faber believes he'll get another UFC title shot
(mmafighting.com)
Conventional wisdom held that Urijah Faber's loss to Dominick Cruz at UFC 199 marked the end of Faber's days as a championship competitor. After all, while Faber's groundbreaking WEC featherweight title reign from 2006-08 paved the way for mainstream recognition of mixed martial arts' lighter weight classes, his track record since then hasn't been one to write home about. With the unanimous decision loss to Cruz, Faber is 0-6 in title fights since dropping the WEC belt to Mike Brown, accounting for UFC, WEC, and UFC interim title shots.

GoFundMe set up for Evangelista Cyborg
(mixedmartialarts.com)
Bellator welterweight Michael Page has a sport karate based style that makes him a one-man highlight reel. At Bellator 158 in London, he met the durable Evangelista 'Cyborg' Santos, and dispatched him with a jumping knee. There is another side to the highlight reel that only fighters, coaches, and teams ordinarily get to see. Just as a highlight finish makes we asses in seats scream "HOLY F@$%ING $#!^" the losing side ordinarily suffers, dramatically. However, there is little to prepare you for what happened to Cyborg Santos on Saturday night. His ex-wife, the best female fighter in MMA, Cris 'Cyborg' Santos, just posted a GoFundMe request on the UG, and a horrific image on Instagram.

Local fighter Brian Camozzi (6-2), who’s on a four-fight winning streak that includes RFA stoppage wins over Tyler Milner and Kenneth Glenn (via flying knee), takes on Nick Barnes (11-1), who’s rebounded from a 2015 submission loss to Jesse Taylor with a recent Bellator victory over James Terry and an RFA win over Jose Diaz. In the middleweight co-headliner, local product Adam Stroup (10-3) looks to rebound from a promotional-debut loss to John Poppie when he takes on Gabriel Checco (9-2), who’s 2-2 under the RFA banner with highlight-reel wins over Joseph Henle and Mike Jasper. A bantamweight fight between Zac Riley (4-3) and undefeated Boston Salmon (5-0) is also on tap.

Brock Lesnar flagged by USADA for potential anti-doping violation
(mmafighting.com)
Brock Lesnar has been flagged by USADA. The UFC released a statement Friday evening that Lesnar and the promotion had been notified by USADA of a potential Lesnar anti-doping violation. The potential violation comes from the failure of an out-of-competition drug test June 28, the release said. The UFC said USADA received the testing results July 14 — five days after Lesnar defeated Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in his MMA return. The same was tested at UCLA Olympic Analytical Laboratory, a WADA-accredited lab. USADA, as is its policy, did not release the name of the substance Lesnar tested positive for.
