'Wonderboy' Thompson wants Saffiedine, injury-replacement slot or January return
UFC welterweight Stephen Thompson said he was targeted for a fight with Tarec Saffiedine after his highlight-reel knockout win over Jake Ellenberger in July. But a knee injury scratched that immediate possibility, and now he’s hoping to get it back. If Saffiedine isn’t ready, Thompson said, he’ll look to step in as an injury-replacement. And if that fails, he’ll target a return in January.

WSOF matchmaker Ali Abdelaziz said now-ex-welterweight champion Rousimar Palhares remains under contract with the promotion, but there are more immediate concerns – chiefly his wellbeing and fate with the Nevada State Athletic Commission. “The guy, we all know he has some problems, and he’s working on them,” Abdelaziz told MMAjunkie. “He’s got a great team around him (with) the Nogueira brothers and other people, and it’s going to be up to the athletic commission. The Nevada commission is going to make a decision, and after that, we’ll follow. We have to respect their decision.

Mike Dolce: Johny Hendricks' UFC 192 weight cut was 'a comedy of errors'
Johny Hendricks ended up in a hospital with kidney stones and an intestinal blockage the day before he was supposed to weigh in last week for a fight with Tyron Woodley. It was perhaps rock bottom for someone who was struggled with his weight cut for years. Mike Dolce, Hendricks' former dietician, told Ariel Helwani on Monday's episode of The MMA Hour that he believes the responsibility lies with one person and one person alone.

Wanderlei Silva files motion to dismiss lawsuit, says Belfort test evidence of UFC cheating
Attorneys for Wanderlei Silva have filed a motion to dismiss the UFC's lawsuit against the renowned MMA fighter with the Clark County, Nevada District Court on Friday, October 3, 2015. The motion claims that the UFC's suit is an attempt "to chill Silva's free speech" and "public participation" as well as send a message to other fighters, and that Silva comments about "cheating" and "fight-fixing" received additional credibility with Vitor Belfort's recently revealed lab results. The UFC filed a complaint of "Intentional Misconduct" against Silva on July 29th for comments he had published on Facebook referring to "fight fixing" in the UFC and comparing the promotion to professional wrestling. Silva's counsel, Terry A. Coffing of the firm Marquis Aurbach Coffing, argues that the complaint should be dismissed because it fails to show damages from his comments or prove his comments were false, and that the UFC's true motivation behind filing the suit is to silence his client.

After his stint at TUF, the Bellator vet officially fought just once with the UFC, dropping a split decision to Joaquim Silva at UFC 191.
