UFC 201 bonuses: Rose Namajunas and Karolina Kowalkiewicz take home FOTN honors
(mmafighting.com)
It was Tyron Woodley's night in Atlanta. Not only did the American Top Team fighter defeat Robbie Lawler to take home the UFC's welterweight title at UFC 201 on Saturday, he also took home $50,000 in bonus money. Woodley was awarded a Performance of the Night honor for his knockout of Lawler, which took place at the 2:12 of the first round. It was only the second time in Lawler's 16-year professional career that he'd been finished via KO. The first came against Nick Diaz at UFC 47 in 2004. Also taking home bonus money for a POTN was Jake Ellenberger, who needed a win in the worst way in his fight against perennial top 10 fighter Matt Brown. Ellenberger, who'd lost five of his previous six bouts, finished Brown early with a body kick (and subsequent punches) at 1:46 of the first round. It was the first knockout for the 31-year old Ellenberger since 2013, when he put away Nate Marquardt at UFC 158.

‘TUF Brazil 3’ vet Ricardo Abreu receives 2-year ban following failed drug test
(mmajunkie.com)
UFC anti-doping partner USADA today announced that middleweight and “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3” veteran Ricardo Abreu has received a two-year suspension for failing an out-of-competition drug test. Abreu, 32, tested positive for 19-norandrosterone (19-NA) and 19-noretiocholanolone – both metabolites of banned anabolic steroids listed by WADA as “non-specified substances” – following a test performed June 3, USADA officials stated in a press release. Abreu (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was above the “decision limit of 3 ng/mL” for 19-norandrosterone, USADA officials stated. The metabolite previously has been connected “andro” supplements, which contain the banned muscle-building hormone androstenedione.

Link provided by MMAFIGHTING.COM, a simple question for you all is do you believe him or not. If so, then I suppose you believe him to be a juicer because of his build or something. If not, do you think that this is another case that examples failures of USASA? If so, possible solutions? I for one believe him, way more so than Silva, even more so than Romero.

One of the iconic voices of the UFC isn’t going anywhere … at least for another year. Joe Rogan, who has worked for the UFC since 1997, announced on his “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast he has agreed to terms to stay with the UFC for “at least one more year.” Rogan said the decision to stay was a difficult one. “I was on the fence, man,” Rogan said. “I just do too much (expletive). I’m too (expletive) busy. … I don’t know if I’m doing myself or all the different things I do a disservice. I was real close (to leaving). It was like, either I’m just gonna completely bail off of this or I’m gonna figure it out.”

Scoggins tonight told MMAjunkie the fight is off. The bout was set to open the pay-per-view main card. The UFC has not yet made any official announcement of the fight’s cancellation, or what fight will take its place to open the main card.

Carwin, now 41 years old, initially announced his retirement from MMA on May 7, 2013 following a six-bout stint with the UFC. The end of his tenure was plagued by injuries, as the Grudge Training Center product first had back surgery following a loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 131. BJJ world champion signs with ONE
(bloodyelbow.com)
The transition between pure Brazilian jiu jitsu and mixed martial arts has proven to be difficult in recent years. As mixed martial artists have become more well-rounded, elite jiu jitsu fighters have began to struggle when they make the switch to MMA. This hasn't put off Michelle Nicolini, who has decided to focus solely on MMA after signing with ONE Championship. Michelle Nicolini is one of the greatest grapplers alive. Nicolini is an 10-time world champion, an ADCC silver and gold medalist, who has continuously beaten the best over the past decade. After retiring from BJJ after the 2016 World Championships, many believed Nicolini would look to build upon her 2 -1 MMA record, but few expected the grappler to sign with ONE.
