Jason MacDonald: I’m Fighting in April — in Canada (UFC 83)
(mmajunkie.com) The UFC’s long-awaited debut north of the American border will take place in April — in Canada — with Canadian fighter Jason MacDonald on the card.
That’s the word from MacDonald, anyway.
Last week MacDonald told fans, including some MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) veterans, at a Maximum Fighting Championships event in Edmonton that he was going to fight on an upcoming April UFC card in Canada.
Karo Parisyan: ‘I think I already have a title shot if I want to wait’
(mmamania.com) Welterweight contender Karo Parisyan has apparently earned a title shot in six or seven months if he wants to wait, according to a recent interview on PunchDrunkGamer.com.
“People are talking about that [a fight with Jon Fitch], I don’t know. The deal is I think I already have a title shot if I want to wait. If I wait I can get my title shot I guess in six or seven months from now, which is a long time away, and I don’t want to mess up my plans of getting my title shot. Now I would love to fight Jon Fitch, but if I fight him and god forbid something goes wrong and I lose that fight it puts me all the way back down again and I have to work back up for a title fight. So if I am guaranteed a title fight now, I’ll take the title fight or if I don’t want to wait such a long time I’ll take another opponent who I have a more ‘guaranteed’ win over. I still think I can beat Jon Fitch – Jon’s a very tough guy, but I think that if I am in shape that I can beat him eight out of 10 times. But at this point I don’t want to jeopardize anything leading up to my title fight, so we’ll see what the UFC will offer and what I will take.”

Cahoon Counting On Strikes To Stop Sinosic
(sherdog.com) UK fighter Paul Cahoon, scheduled to face Elvis Sinosic on tomorrow's Cage Rage 24 event, is planning to use his strikes to stop the Australian fighter. Cahoon thinks that Sinosic is weak in ground-and-pound and wants to use that and a standup fight to his advantage.
UFC 80: ‘Rapid Fire’ to air on CBS network … not PPV?
(mmamania.com) Dave Meltzer from WrestlingObserver.com throws out a juicy nugget in the recent print publication of his newsletter:
UFC 80: “Rapid Fire”— not UFC 81 as speculated — could air for FREE on the CBS network rather than pay-per-view (PPV) if a deal can be hammered out in time. It seems that The Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike is beginning to reduce the television landscape “to a barren wasteland of reruns and infomercials.”

Farrar vs. Miller off WEC 31 card
(mmaweekly.com) "With three title fights taking place on the upcoming World Extreme Cagefighting show on Dec. 12, the promotion lost one of their undercard bouts as the fight between Chance Farrar and Micah Miller has been removed from the card as confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by Miller’s training partner, Blake Bowman."
Apparently Farrar suffered a hand injury and will be unable to compete. This is unfortunate, I was looking forward to this fight. It would have been a war.

shonie carter speaks out on the ufc
(mmafever.blogspot.com)
SC: As soon as I get back, I'm going to see what's up because I know the UFC was tripping about me fighting. I'm like, look, I can't sit around and wait all year and they didn't use me all year. I mean, my rent was due. Even me going to Canada…I mean, the whole story behind me fighting goes beyond the fight. I owed child support and I was paying the mom instead of paying the state. I go to renew my passport and they cease my passport and give me 24 hours to pay it or I'm going to get a knock on the door by the sheriff.

BRITISH BARK (Info on Kelly VS Taylor UFC 80)
(thefightnetwork.com) Mixed martial arts fans will witness the UFC’s first-ever Brit-versus-Brit bout when undefeated Paul Kelly takes on Paul Taylor at UFC 80 “Rapid Fire” on Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle, England. A member of the Wolfslair Academy – home to Michael Bisping, light heavyweight winner from season three of “The Ultimate Fighter” – Kelly has signed a four-fight deal with the promotion.
Kelly (6-0) began his professional career in 2005, with a match against Nigel Whitear at FX3 “Battle of Britain.” The bout lasted all of 54 seconds. In the two years since, the welterweight has finished off five more opponents. Five of his six wins have come in the opening round.
Taylor (8-2-1, 1-1 UFC), meanwhile, has already fought in two of the three UFC shows in the UK and is coming off a submission loss to Marcus Davis at UFC 75 in September.
