Nick Diaz's Injunction Denied, Forcing Him to Wait Until NSAC Hearing for Career Clarity
Nick Diaz will be forced to wait at least one more week before learning about the status of his stalled mixed martial arts career.
In a Monday hearing in Clark County (Nevada) district court, judge Rob Bare denied an injunction request that would have effectively overturned his temporary suspension by the the Nevada state athletic commission, stemming from a February drug test that was positive for marijuana metabolites.
The official minutes of the hearing will not be available until Wednesday, but Judge Bare's executive assistant Tara Duenas confirmed the ruling to MMA Fighting.
NSAC executive director Keith Kizer told MMA Fighting that Diaz's hearing with his sanctioning body would be placed on the May 21 docket.

UFC veteran Din Thomas victorious in MMA return
It's been over two years, but longtime Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) veteran Din Thomas finally returned to mixed martial arts (MMA) action at "Pure MMA 2" last Saturday night (May 12, 2012) in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, submitting up-and-coming featherweight prospect Cody Bollinger via first-round submission (armbar).
"Dinyero" was originally supposed to compete at "Fight Time 7" from the War Memorial Auditorium last October in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, but ended up in the hospital after totaling his car on the way to the arena.
Thomas (26-8) is currently riding a four-fight win streak, which includes a submission victory (triangle choke) over Dustin Pierkin at Headhunter Productions "The Patriot Act" back in Feb. 2009 followed by a technical knockout win (knee) over Gabe Lemley at "March Badness" just over a month later.
TUF9 winner Wilks forced to retire
TUF 9 winner James Wilks has announced his retirement from the sport.
The English welterweight, who earned a contract with the UFC after beating DaMarques Johnson in the final of 'The Ultimate Fighter: UK vs. USA', has been forced to end his career due to injury. He has not fought for 18 months.
"A few of you have been asking when my next fight is," Wilks said on Twitter. "Unfortunately, I have had to retire due to injury. Now coaching at Lightning MMA."
Scott Coker: No set plans for Strikeforce grand-prix winner or 'plus-one' fight
So what happens to next week's winner of the Strikeforce world heavyweight grand prix?
It's a good question, but it's still one without an answer.
In a recent media call, Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker said there are no definite plans for the winner of the May 19 headliner between Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier.
Barnett (31-5 MMA, 2-0 SF) and Cormier (9-0 MMA, 6-0 SF) meet in the long-awaited finale of the 15-month-long tournament, which began with eight fighters (and swelled to nine when Cormier replaced Alistair Overeem in the semifinals). The tourney conclusion airs on Showtime from HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
UFC on FUEL TV 3's Stephens on Cerrone: 'I'm going to break him'
Lightweight veteran Jeremy Stephens believes he can get Donald Cerrone to wilt under pressure.
"I couldn't care less about his kicks," said Stephens, scheduled to face Cerrone in the co-main event of UFC on FUEL TV 3 on Tuesday at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. "I couldn't care less about his punching power. And I'm going to break him."
Both coming off losses to top-10 opponents, Cerrone and Stephens could use a win to start new runs at the elite ranks at 155 pounds. Pitting them against each other gives the UFC a good chance of an action-packed affair; between them, Cerrone and Stephens have combined for 13 fight-night awards under the banner of UFC parent Zuffa.
Yet Stephens doesn't go into the cage with the notion of winning a bonus for action.
Mariusz Pudzianowski Clobbers Bob Sapp at KSW 19; Mamed Khalidov Victorious
Five-time World’s Strongest Man titleholder Mariusz Pudzianowski put away Bob Sapp with first-round punches less than a minute into their KSW 19 headliner on Saturday at the Atlas Arena in Lodz, Poland. Sapp (11-12), who has lost his last six fights, succumbed to the Polish strongman’s blows 41 seconds into round one.
The two behemoths approached one another tentatively at the start and then let loose with their fists. Sapp covered up almost immediately and ate a series of close-quarters knees. Pudzianowski (4-2) backed him into the ropes, ripped his feet out from under him with a primitive but effective standing double-leg takedown and smashed away with hammerfists and punches. With Sapp offering nothing in return, referee Tomasz Bronder swooped in and brought the match to a merciful close.
Nick Diaz no-shows Brazilian jiu-jitsu super fight against Braulio Estima
Nick Diaz was all set to fight multiple time world champion Brazilian jiu-jitsu player Braulio Estima in the main event of the World Jiu-Jitsu Expo tonight (May 12, 2012) in Long Beach, California.
But first he had to show up.
Estima showed up, had a tough weight cut, but made weight for their bout, which was the headliner of the inaugural event that was being put online via a pay-per-view stream for $9.95, but Diaz didn't.
Instead, fans were left scratching their heads. After all, the bout was supposed to be for charity. There had been reports throughout the night that Diaz hadn't shown up yet, but most just assumed he was being fashionably late.
When he completely no-showed the main event, the fans in attendance and around the world were justifiably livid.
Guilherme Bertholdo may eventually follow in Uncle Anderson Silva's MMA footsteps
While his name isn't the same as his world famous uncle, there's still some pressure if you're getting into the fight game and are related to pound-for-pound MMA king Anderson Silva.
But 19-year-old Guilherme Bertholdo shrugs off his famous lineage and told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) he's trying to forge his own fighting path, which right now is strictly muay Thai.
"No, I don't feel any pressure," said the soft-spoken Bertholdo, who faces 24-year-old Chris Lazaro tonight at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas at Lion Fight Muay Thai VI. "I'm just trying to do my own thing."
The 12-bout card streams live at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) on LionFightPromotions.com. It features a main-event rematch between World Boxing Council light-heavyweight (175-pound) champ Joe Schilling (12-2, 10 KOs) of Los Angeles and Simon Marcus (23-0, 18 KOs) of Toronto.
