McKee out of fight with Aoki; search for replacement is on. (Jami Varner in?)
(sherdog.com)
Initially, MMAJunkie.com reported on Monday that McKee (Pictured) had withdrawn from the bout due to visa issues. However, Dream official Mike Kogan asserted that visa problems were not the reason the fight fell apart. According to Kogan, Monday’s report was how he found out that the fight was no longer a go. “That’s actually why it upset me. I’ve got to read [on the Internet] that the guy who I fought for [to be on the card] is all of a sudden not fighting and making it sound like it’s beyond his control,” Kogan told Sherdog.com. “The visa issues were never a problem. I figure that part out first, before I book fighters. I have a very good travel agent that I’ve been working with forever on [acquiring] visas, even on last-minute notice. Here, we almost had three weeks, so it wasn’t an issue.” ...“He needs to come up with a better excuse as to why he isn’t fighting, because it isn’t the visa. As a matter of fact, I can get him his visa today. It’s still not too late. All he has to do is drive to [Los Angeles].” ...

Dana White Blames The Ultimate Fighter 13's Poor Quality on Lack of Elimination Round
(bloodyelbow.com)
It's no secret that this season's The Ultimate Fighter is suffering. After an initial 1.5 million viewers tuned in for the show's debut on March 30th and a steady rating for the next five episodes, the ratings hit a new low last week, garnering only 1 million viewers, or a 0.8 household rating. The NBA playoffs may be one of the reasons why the show is losing viewers, but one fan told Dana White that the show was "unbearably boring, unbearable to watch" at the UFC 129 Fan Expo in Toronto. Interestingly enough, Dana White agreed:

Nate Marquardt will make his planned drop to welterweight at UFC on Versus 4 when he faces Anthony Johnson. Although he's coming off a win over Dan Miller in his last middleweight fight, Marquardt recently announced his plans to make the cut to 170, and had competed as light as 155 lbs very early in his career. Johnson, meanwhile, is riding his dominant victory over Dan Hardy at UFN 24.

(bloodyelbow.com)
Ever since B.J. Penn's UFC 132 fight with Jon Fitch went up in smoke, fans have been wondering what's next for "The Prodigy." If a Monday exchange on Twitter is any indication, it could be former Strikeforce middleweight and EliteXC welterweight champion Jake Shields.

Chuck Liddell Talks About How Tough It Was to Retire
(cagepotato.com)
Liddell said the decision was one of the hardest ones he ever had to make and that he realized it was time to hang up the gloves when he could no longer take a punch like he used to in spite of being in the best shape of his career and as ready for his last fight with Rich Franklin as he was for any in his career. According to “The Icemen” although he wishes things played out differently, he has no regrets and he went out swinging. “I went out the way I fought. I fought my way. People say I should have changed and I should have tried to wrestle more,” the UFC VP of business development explained. “I went out my way. I went out the way that I fight. I went out on my shield. That’s it. Done.”

Tito Ortiz helped post suspect's $500,000 bond
(lvrj.com)
Could Keith Harriman's criminal case get any stranger? The answer would seem to be yes after a hearing Friday revealed that Harriman was able to post $500,000 bond thanks to help from ultimate fighter Tito Ortiz. Harriman is charged with 12 felony counts in a plot to have his son, Dominick Harriman, 27, killed in a sordid affair involving an insurance fraud scam and a love triangle with Keith Harriman's former wife. Prosecutors have been wanting to know where Keith Harriman got the money to post the bond for his release from the Clark County Detention Center, because he had declared he was indigent and needed representation from the public defender's office. District Judge David Barker ordered Keith Harriman to say where the money came from at the hearing Friday. Harriman said Ortiz put up the bulk of the collateral needed from a bondsman. Several people were surprised to hear Ortiz's name announced by Harriman...

Antonio 'Bigfoot' Silva Lashes Out At Josh Barnett, Brock Lesnar
(bloodyelbow.com)
Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix semi-finalist Antonio Silva did an interview with Sherdog today that led to some surprising statements. Bigfoot is normally a very humble individual who doesn't offer up a ton of negativity in interviews, but he certainly had some stuff to say about fellow HWGP fighter Josh Barnett and former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar. The man who last defeated Fedor Emelianenko minced no words about the controversial Barnett: "I’ve been fighting since 2004 and have never had any issues with another athlete, even the most stuck-up," explained Silva. "Friendship, for me, is everything, but Josh is a weird guy, a guy who doesn’t greet you when you enter the elevator, doesn’t even say ‘good morning.’ It’s how he treats Brazilian fighters especially. It’s the same thing with [Barnett and] Werdum. "But when [Barnett] sees Fedor, [UFC President] Dana White or [UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo] Fertitta, he runs to them and stays by their side all the time. He makes me sick. He’s the classic kiss-ass, a rude man …" added Silva. "I really want to face Barnett and I’ve already said I consider him a filthy person, even though he is a great fighter, and that I’ll beat him up and close both of his eyes."

Bellator tourney winner Jay Hieron says critics just don't understand his strategy
(mmajunkie.com)
Jay Hieron will tell you repeatedly that the toughest guys don't always win MMA tournaments. Instead, he says, the guys who fight the best do. It's both a slight at himself and a pat on his own back. Hieron, of course, recently won Bellator Fighting Championships' season-four welterweight tournament as the early favorite. And though his close wins and fighting style have been heavily panned in recent weeks, he recently told MMAjunkie.com Radio (www.mmajunkie.com/radio) his strategy was sound.

James Thompson Shakes Up His Training for Fight with World’s Strongest Man
(mmaweekly.com)
James Thompson has had a rougher ride than most in his MMA career, blighted by dodgy decisions, political manifestos, and by his own admission a hot-headed approach when things get feisty, all of which have contributed to an MMA record that belies his skill and potential. He is on the cusp of probably the most relevant fight of his career, against five-time World’s Strongest Man Marius Pudzianowski in the Polish KSW promotion.

UFC's Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson Looking to Quit MMA in Two Years
(bloodyelbow.com)
In a recent interview, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson made it known that he would rather be making movies than fighting. Saying "As soon as movies start paying me more than I make to fight, I'm gone." He now has clarified those statements by speaking to ESPN and saying that the only sure thing is that he only has two years of fighting left in him: "I've always said I'll retire when I'm 35. I don't want to fight past 35. There are young guys coming in and doing good. I've been fighting for a long time and it's no secret that I don't fight the same way I used to. "I've got a lot of injuries, one or two things that bother me. But when I'm fighting, the injuries don't bother me, it's the training that gets old. Going through each camp I go through all these pains and think, 'Man I don't want to do this anymore'. But after the fight I say, 'OK, I'll give it one more'. So who knows?

UFC 130 Fight Card Finalized at 10 Bouts; Rampage vs. Hamill Headlines
(mmaweekly.com)
The fight card for UFC 130 has been finalized at 10 bouts, that is, of course, barring any more injuries or other issues in the two weeks that left until fight time. Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson heads the card in a bout with “Ultimate Fighter” alum Matt Hamill. Jackson was originally slated to face Thiago Silva, who fell out of the bout following a drug test related revocation of his license. Silva admitted to providing a sample “inconsistent with human urine” at UFC 125.

Paul Heyman Working with Shane Carwin to Promote UFC 131
(bloodyelbow.com)
New UFC 131 headliner Shane Carwin posted a piece of news on twitter this weekend that is sure to anger a portion of fans: Paul Heymen @HeymanHustle is here handling the UFC Countdown shoot. For those who are unfamiliar with the name, Paul Heyman is a professional wrestling personality best known for his time running ECW (Extreme Championship Wrestling) in the late 90's. He has been out of pro wrestling for some time now, and has been a vocal fan of MMA . He is also good friends with Brock Lesnar. Dave Meltzer at the Wrestling Observer has a bit more detail: [T]his is not a deal with UFC, but the production company that does the Countdown special and Spike TV hired Heyman to help with the Countdown show for UFC 131. His role was to help Brock Lesnar promote the fight, and with Lesnar pulling out, they asked him if he'd instead work with Carwin, which he's doing. It's not a UFC hire. The idea of Heyman working with UFC in teaching fighters how to promote matches (and how not to) isn't the world's worst idea.

In reacting to news of the UFC's recent accident-insurance policy, Mark Coleman calls himself a former fighter. He then stops himself. The 46-year-old UFC Hall of Famer admits that his athletic career is on borrowed time. But there is one fight that would make him feel young again.

Cormier made note of the booking on his Twitter and ShoSports has added the bout to the fight card on its website. Shane Del Rosario was originally scheduled to meet "DC" at the event; however, a car accident forced him out of action for an indefinite period of time.

Nogueira was discussing the surgeries he underwent last year -- including one on his hip and a reconstructive procedure on his knee -- when he declared that he will compete on the card, which takes place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. “The biggest MMA promotion in the world will be back in Brazil after 14 years and I’ll be there, steady and strong.” Who do you think he will fight?
