Champ 'Cyborg' Justino: 5 Invicta fights left, still hope of facing Ronda Rousey
(mmajunkie.com)
For Invicta FC featherweight champ Cristiane Justino, the prospect of a fight with ex-UFC champ Ronda Rousey still looms, though not as strongly as before. With an immediate showdown nixed by Rousey’s knockout to Holly Holm, “Cyborg” is refocusing her efforts on her native promotion. A move to bantamweight, which she and her camp announced on two separate occasions, is no longer a priority. Justino was scheduled to drop to 140 pounds for a catchweight bout with Cindy Dandois, but decided to go another direction before the bout was announced.

Invicta FC featherweight Ediane Gomes said she’s no stranger to struggles, but the latest turns of her career have forced her to go hat in hand. The veteran fighter opened a GoFundMe account to cover costs she needs to pay in order to be licensed for her next bout, a meeting with Amanda Bell (3-3) at Saturday’s Invicta FC 15, which takes place at The Hangar at OC Fair and Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif. The event streams live on UFC Fight Pass. “I’ve fought in California once before, against Ronda Rousey,” Gomes (10-4) said in an interview with MMAjunkie. “That fight was on very short notice, and I spent an entire day doing medicals. I never forgot how I had to do all those medical tests while still cutting weight.

Wanderlei Silva's re-hearing postponed once again by Nevada Athletic Commission
(mmafighting.com)
Wanderlei Silva will eventually get his day in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission. It just won't be anytime soon. Silva's re-hearing with the NAC was once again postponed on Tuesday, much to the displeasure of Silva's attorney Ross Goodman, who argued that the commission was violating Silva's right to "due process" by continually refusing to receive the case. "This was ordered for re-hearing back in October," Goodman argued. "The commission then continued it to November for another re-hearing, approval on a proposed consent order. The commission then moved it, at that time, to December. The commission then took it off calendar and moved it to January.

UFC's Jimy Hettes mulling retirement after latest in long line of injury withdrawals
(mmajunkie.com)
Jimy Hettes was considered a top featherweight prospect when he made his UFC debut in August 2011. Less than five years and a mere six fights later, however, Hettes said he could be done fighting for good. Hettes’ (11-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) career took another harsh blow this week when he was forced to withdraw from a scheduled UFC Fight Night 81 bout with Charles Rosa (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC) just one week prior to the event. Hettes said he suffered a knee injury in training that could ultimately cause the end of his career. “The Kid” made a splash in 2011 when he debuted and won back-to-back fights in impressive fashion. That’s when he injuries woes began, though, and he was only physically capable of stepping in the UFC’s octagon once in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015, respectively.

Chris Weidman breaks silence after UFC 194: ‘I'm really happy I lost'
(mmafighting.com)
Chris Weidman accomplished more before his first professional loss than many fighters do in a lifetime. He defeated Anderson Silva -- the man many consider to be the greatest fighter to ever grace the middleweight division -- not once, but twice in capturing the UFC middleweight title. He defended that belt in subsequent challenges from Lyoto Machida and Vitor Belfort. But happy endings are rarity in the fight game, and for Weidman, his magical run came crashing to a halt at UFC 194. (Courtesy of on Twitter)

IRS goes after Royce Gracie claiming tax underpayment, fraud totaling $1.15 million
(bloodyelbow.com)
Remember the scrawny guy in a gi who smoked the field at UFC 1 and had everyone scratching their heads as to how such a thing was possible? Well Royce Gracie is now a UFC Hall of Famer who's scheduled to come out of an almost nine-year MMA layoff/retirement on Feb. 19 for a trilogy fight with his old archrival Ken Shamrock in Gracie's Bellator promotional debut. While that fight will be upon us soon enough, few are aware that Gracie is smack dab in the middle of another fight against an even tougher, more battle-tested opponent who can't be grappled into submission: The U.S. Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Gracie's tax problems appear to have begun in 2012 when he and his wife each received an IRS administrative summons "seeking information about their foreign bank and foreign investment activities." It is unclear exactly how the Gracies first appeared on the IRS's radar, but an investigation began and the IRS needed additional documents for tax years 2007 through 2011 in order to evaluate "among other things, [the Gracies'] liability for civil penalties."

(bloodyelbow.com)
Those were #reebokjeans u should've just kept the whole check I don't need that baby ass shit anyway .. #1000? ? — Nathan Diaz (@NateDiaz209) January 10, 2016 UFC middleweight Josh Samman was on the same fight card, and he also mentioned details of the Diaz situation on his fight week diary. Here's a snippet: "Reebok guy rushes back up to me, and asks if he can borrow my pants that I just wore, for another fighter who also has jeans on at weigh ins. I don't mind, and hand him my pants. I ask him who the fighter is. He says Diaz. I have a feeling I know how this is going to end. He comes back a couple minutes later and gives me my pants back, as Diaz walks on stage with jeans."
