(mmajunkie.com) UFC newcomer Kevin "The Fire" Burns (4-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) will likely replace Ryo Chonan (12-6 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC 85, where he'll meet Roan Carneiro (14-8 MMA, 0-1 UFC) on the night's preliminary card.
Sources close to Burns today told MMAjunkie.com that the Nebraska-based fighter has agreed to be a late replacement at next weekend's pay-per-view event.

UFC 84 Payouts Revealed
(mmamania.com) The NSAC has released the fighter payouts from UFC 84. The total disclosed payouts, which do not include sponsor money, other bonuses, etc. totaled just over $1.23 million.
Ask A ProFighter - Crocop, Mir, Herring, and Franklin!
(forums.dreamfighters.com)
This is pretty cool. You can ask these 4 fighters a question to be submitted in the next dreamfighters.com interview. What would you ask someone like Crocop?
What If Thompson Ruins The Party?
(bloodyelbow.com) Listening to the Elite XC Kimbo-Thompson press conference, it was amusing to me how Thompson got like 2-3 questions and the rest of the time was Kimbo and Gary Shaw. Thompson is a complete afterthought in the promotion of this fight, but it sounds like he is taking it very seriously:
Sherk Didn't Fight to Win ??
(bloodyelbow.com) Having re-watched UFC 84, I have to say that Sean Sherk, despite fighting hard for almost three full rounds against the best 155lb fighter in the world, didn't give it his best.
In the post fight interview, Rogan asked Sherk why he didn't try harder to take B.J. down. Sherk said it was because he felt he was "competitive" against B.J. on his feet.
Odd......
Affliction and Negativity
(bloodyelbow.com) Sam Caplan has a piece up at CBS taking umbrage with those focusing on the financial follies of Affliction:
However, in spite of the abundance of talent this show stands to offer, there are still some Internet curmudgeons who have taken issue with Affliction and the amount of money they intend to spend on the card, which has been reported to be anywhere between $4 million to $6 million.
Which begs the question: Who cares?
Because, after all, it's not our money. If Affliction has it and wants to spend it generously, where's the downside? If someone wants to toss around millions of dollars for the benefit of the MMA fan, I'm all for it.
How do you solve a problem like Machida?
(mmajunkie.com) Lyoto Machida posted his 13th straight career victory -- and his fifth win in the UFC -- with Saturday's UFC 84 unanimous decision over former title-older Tito Ortiz.
But is his latest victory really worth celebrating? Does he now deserve a title shot or a fight with another top contender?
It depends on whom you're asking.

Bas Rutten Talks IFL, Grand Theft Auto 4 & More
(mmaweekly.com) Three events into a new year and the International Fight League has put in some of the most exciting match-ups in the organization’s brief history.
Key to the in-ring success has come at the hands of the matchmaking. Lead by Kurt Otto, in conjunction with Bas “El Guapo” Rutten, the IFL’s change of format to individual fights with champions in six weight classes has proven to be a shot in the arm to the company’s live events.
In particular, Rutten has grown into his role as Vice President of Fighter Operations, continuing his transition from fighter to MMA business professional, enjoying every minute of it.
Recently Bas took time from his always hectic schedule to speak to MMAWeekly about the current status of the IFL, his foray into the world of video games and his always present endeavors into expanding the Bas Rutten name and brand.

Tito Ortiz comments on his status with the UFC
(mmaweekly.com) n speaking about his current situation of unrest with the most prominent mixed martial arts organization in the world, Ortiz stated, “It just really comes down to… I see the whole situation with the company, you know, I put my heart and soul on the line… and if I speak out amongst what the contracts are and what the fighters get paid and everything… I’m called a stupid person.
“But back in the day when Dana White was my manager, he was fighting against SEG (the former owners of the UFC) to get me the pay-per-view buys and to get me the money that I felt I was rightfully owed for stepping into the Octagon and fighting.”
The cruxt of Ortiz’s position, at least publicly, is that he feels that he hasn’t been treated respectfully or compensated fairly by the organization that he has attached himself to for the past 11 years.
“I’ve been disrespected time and time again and it started last year with the Bad Blood thing,” he commented. “They wanted to take advantage of me and I stood up because I’m a businessman.
“I know what I’m worth.”
The Man Behind The Curtain
(bloodyelbow.com) The online MMA community has been so busy celebrating Wanderlei Silva's return to form that they missed a very important fact:
''I know people think there was a lot of pressure on me, but I was OK,” said Silva (32-8-1). “I had Randy (Couture) in my corner and I looked at him and he was so calm, and that relaxed me.''
Wow. I didn't even notice randy in Wandy's corner!
Manny Gamburyan Vs Rob Emerson set for UFC 87 + Karo fighting too
(15rounds.com) Karo Parisyan is ready to return to the octagon after his upset loss to Thiago Alves.
In fact, Parisyan already knows the date of the fight, but not the opponent.
"I will be fighting August 9 in Minnesota," Parisyan said, "There are a couple of names being thrown around, but there’s no opponent yet."
Parisyan isn’t the only member of his family stepping back into the cage this summer. Ultimate Fighter season five runner-up Manny Gamburyan also has a match-up set.
“I am back in the Octagon in August against Rob Emerson,” said Gamburyan.
The Light Heavyweight Picture
(bloodyelbow.com) The Light Heavyweight division emerged from UFC 84 with more clarity than before, but still very muddled. Simply put, there is nobody right now who deserves an immediate title shot against the winner of Rampage and Forrest. The top half of the contenders includes Wand, Thiago, Machida, Shogun, Liddell, and Rashad Evans. Both Chuck and Shogun are expected to return in September, which is right around the time all the guys who just fought should begin fighting again. There's also the possibility of Rich Franklin moving to 205, which is very likely in my view considering the place he is in right now at 185.
Andrei Arlovski To Hold Press Conference To Announce His Future
(fightline.com) Andrei Arlovski will be holding a media day this Tuesday in Los Angeles to announce his plans for the future. Many are speculating that Arlovski will announce his departure from the UFC for either Affliction or Adrenaline MMA.
Arlovski will hold the media day at Wild Card Gym in Hollywood where he'll be working on his boxing and conditioning with Freddie Roach and Alex Ariza.

Tito Ortiz offered UFC contract prior to UFC 84
(fiveouncesofpain.com) FiveOuncesOfPain.com was informed by Rear Naked Radio, a weekly MMA show heard every Saturday from 7-9 p.m. CT on Live 105.3 FM in Dallas, that former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz was offered a contract by the UFC in the days leading up to last night’s fight against Lyoto Machida.
While listening to the initial portion of an audio clip forwarded by Rear Naked Radio, Ortiz begins to talk about possible options outside of the UFC.
“Either I go to Affliction; either I got to possibly something with De La Hoya; or start something on my own; HDNet; I mean there are so many opportunities for me,” said Ortiz. “Lorenzo (Ferttita) came up to me, actually, a day before the weigh-in and he’s like ‘UFC is the place you need to stay. You need to be here. We need you here.” And he was giving me the old fluff deal…”
