South Florida mayors to fight MMA bout for charity, Italian dinner
(mmajunkie.com) Carlos Hernandez and Michael Pizzi are mayors of neighboring South Florida cities. After trading rhetorical jabs, they've decided to trade real ones this summer in an MMA bout for charity.
WSOF 3 adds Gruetzemacher-Sanders, Beebe-Murphy to prelims
(mmajunkie.com) World Series of Fighting continues to fill out the card for its next show, WSOF 3 next month in Las Vegas.
Chris Gruetzemacher (11-1) will meet Jerrod Sanders (11-1) in a featherweight bout, while Carson Beebe (13-2) takes on Joe Murphy (6-0) at bantamweight. WSOF officials on Wednesday announced the new fight pairings. All four fighters will be making their WSOF debuts.
WSOF 3 takes place June 14 at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network. The main event is a welterweight bout between former UFC title challenger Jon Fitch and fellow UFC vet Josh Burkman.

Bellator 96 main card adds heavyweight tourney, expands to three hours
(mmajunkie.com) The first event of Bellator's upcoming "Summer Series" will have a super-sized main card with today's addition of a four-man heavyweight tournament.
The event, Bellator 96, takes place June 19 at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, Okla. The three-hour main card airs on Spike TV following prelims on Spike.com.
The main card now boasts six fights with the addition of the tourney's opening round. The heavyweight matchups include Vinicius Queiroz (6-3 MMA, 1-1 BFC) vs. Rich Hale (21-5 MMA, 6-2 BFC) and Vitaly Minakov (10-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) vs. Ron Sparks (8-1 MMA, 3-1 BFC).
Bryan Caraway awarded Pat Healy's $65K 'Submission of the Night' bonus
(mmajunkie.com) Pat Healy's loss is Bryan Caraway's gain; a $65,000 "Submission of the Night" bonus initially awarded to Healy instead will go to Caraway.

Wrestling getting an MMA-inspired makeover

Taking the lead from the MMA world, wrestling is thinking big and bold when it comes to showmanship. Incorporating staged weigh-ins, walk-out music, lighting, visual effects and video screen replays are all being discussed.

Reza Madadi out of UFC on FOX 8, Jorge Masvidal now meets Michael Chiesa
(mmajunkie.com) Reza Madadi (13-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) has been forced out of his lightweight fight against Michael Chiesa (9-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) at UFC on FOX 8, and Jorge Masvidal (24-7 MMA, 1-0 UFC) will step in to take his place.
The announcement was made on Tuesday night's edition of "UFC Tonight" on FUEL TV. Visa issues for Madadi reportedly are to blame.
With the change, UFC on FOX 8 now includes:

UFC 165 heads to Air Canada Centre in Toronto on Sept. 21
(mmajunkie.com) The UFC will return to Toronto in September for a pay-per-view that will be UFC 165.
UFC officials on Tuesday made the announcement on FUEL TV's "UFC Tonight."
UFC 165 will take place Sept. 21 at Air Canada Centre. No main event or other fights were announced for the card.
The show will be the UFC's fourth in the Ontario city, which is the largest in Canada. Most recently, UFC 152 took place at Air Canada Centre on Sept. 22, 2012 – so UFC 165 will return there exactly a year later to the weekend.
Pat Healy releases statement admitting positive test for marijuana post-UFC 159
(mmajunkie.com) UFC lightweight Pat Healy (30-16 MMA, 1-0 UFC) today issued a statement to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) in which he apologized for testing positive for marijuana following an upset win over Jim Miller (22-5 MMA, 11-4 UFC) at UFC 159.
The UFC declined to comment on the matter, and the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board, which oversaw the event, does not release the names of those that test positive for banned substances following an event. But a Healy representative told MMAjunkie.com that the fighter was suspended for 90 days by the commission and his win will be overturned to a no contest.
In his statement, Healy took fully responsibility for the positive test.
Jessamyn Duke successfully appeals KO loss to Miriam Nakamoto at Invicta FC 5
(mmajunkie.com) The Missouri Office of Athletics today overturned Jessamyn Duke's loss at Invicta FC 5, changing the result of her bout against Miriam Nakamoto to a no contest.
Nakamoto originally was ruled the winner by way of knockout, but after an investigation, the commission ruled an illegal knee warranted the overturning of the official result, according to a copy of the decision obtained today by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
The fight took place April 5 at Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, Mo., and streamed live via online pay-per-view.

Multiple sources close to the event today told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that Ben Rothwell (32-9 MMA, 2-3 UFC) and Brandon Vera (12-6 MMA, 8-6 UFC) are targeted to meet at UFC 164.
UFC 164 takes place Aug. 31 at Bradley Center in Milwaukee and will be the promotion's second trip to Wisconsin. The main card will air on pay-per-view, though it is not yet know if Rothwell-Vera will be part of the main card or the prelims.
Showtime targeting return to MMA

Welterweight champ Ben Askren only drug tested once as Bellator fighter
(bloodyelbow.com) Despite going undefeated in 8 fights with Bellator, including 5 of them being headlining bouts with the Welterweight title on the line, champion Ben Askren revealed that he's only been tested once while fighting for the promotion.
