Another Husband-Wife MMA Couple Emerging
Fighting, both as a fighter and spectator/supporter, has been a big part of Emily Fisher's life. Between operating a gym run by and training with her husband, UFC fighter Spencer Fisher, Emily Fisher is part of a growing subset of MMA fighters, those who don't necessarily fight for the money or the fame but the self-respect and pleasure of accomplishment. The days spent preparing in the gym translate into confidence in other aspects of life, and the exhilaration of a fight simply can't be matched in day jobs or other errand tasks. Emily, 3-1 and preparing for her 5th fight in May, is one of a growing breed of part-time fighters who accept the business of MMA as part of their lives.
Leben Anticipates August Return, Possibly UFC 102
Suspended UFC fighter-turned-CEO Chris Leben, running a new gym and fight team during a drug suspension that ends in late July, says a August return to the Octagon appears likely. No specific date set but UFC 102 in Portland, Leben's hometown, is a possibility.
Gina Carano Still Holding out Hope for Eventual UFC Fight
It is almost certain that Carano's next fight will be for Strikeforce, I assume the negotiations have more to do with how many fights will be on the contract. However, it's still pretty clear she wants to fight on a UFC. She mentioned a meeting with Dana and Lorenzo, and said that was a possibility.
Brandon Vera interview: Fans need to stop worrying about postfight antics
"What we go through to get to that point, all the hard work and the effort that you put in to get that shining moment," told Cage Writer. "That's hitting the damn lottery. How are you going to act when you win $10 million. Do you care what other people think? Hell no!"
Fred Ettish: Where Is He Now?
For many longtime mixed martial arts diehards, Ettish will be forever associated with his ill-fated appearance at UFC 2 on March 11, 1994, when he entered the cage on a moment’s notice to fight Johnny Rhodes -- a man physically superior to him in virtually every way imaginable. Three minutes and seven seconds later, after being momentarily blinded and cut by a bare-knuckle punch, Ettish succumbed to a rear-naked choke. He was not afforded the opportunity to return the Octagon to right his wrongs, and his life was never the same.
Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida train together in Belém
Brazilian Lyoto Machida received an unexpected visit in this last Sunday, in his training academy in Belém: Vitor Belfort, former UFC and Cage Rage champion, today fighting at Affliction, was passing trough the city. "I have some projects in Belém and good friends as well, like Lyoto. I took the chance to train together and tried to help him in any way."
Joe Riggs vs. Phil Baroni possible for June
A rumored match up between welterweight bout between Joe Riggs and Phil Baroni appears to be a very good possibility for a Strikeforce card that is tentatively set for June.

Anderson Silva vs Roy Jones Jr. practically a done deal
UFC middleweight champion Anderson “The Spider” Silva seems to be merely biding his time until the completion of his UFC contract to finally test himself in the world of professional boxing. “The Spider” first mentioned his interest in the sweet science after he dispatched of Dan Henderson at UFC 82: “Pride of a Champion” in March 2008. And there is perhaps no boxer who has accomplished more in the sport in the past decade and a half than Jones Jr., although he could be considered past his prime despite winning four of his last five bouts. Is Anderson getting too big for his britches? Or does he have the stuff to hang with the boxing legend?
CB Dollaway vs. Tom Lawlor Set For UFC 100
Another matchup of TUF alumni is set for later this year, with TUF 7 runner-up CB Dollaway facing TUF 8 alum Tom Lawlor at UFC 100. Lawlor will be dropping to MIddleweight for this fight after previously fighting at Light Heavyweight.
UFC Quick Quote: Bobby Lashley wants to prove he belongs in the UFC
I’ve had dialogue with (the UFC) over the past few days. They know where my mind frame is. I hold the UFC in high regard and I believe the UFC is a place where you have to be at a certain level before you get there. I want to be a serious contender for a title before I go in there. When I get to the UFC, I want people to say ‘Bobby is good enough to go for the title.’ I would like to be holding a 5-0 or 6-0 record, somewhere around there before going into the UFC. If I can take what I do in practice and put that into a match — then you’ll see a whole different Bobby than what you saw the other day. -Fresh off his unanimous decision victory over Jason Guida at “March Badness,” former WWE superstar and decorated amateur wrestler Bobby Lashley tells host Larry Pepe on MMAmania.com’s exclusive presentation of Pro MMA Radio that his ultimate goal is to be a major player in the UFC — but understands that he must first become a reputable fighter prior to a potential debut. Lashley (2-0) looked a bit green against Guida last Saturday night in only the second MMA match of his career, but vows to improve and work his way to the top.

The Takimoto-Costa winner will join Josh Thompson, Mike Pyle and Fabricio Monteiro as announced participants.
Anthony Johnson vs Matt Brown at TUF 9 Finale
Just weeks after the proposed match-up between Anthony Johnson and John Howard fell through, Johnson now has a new opponent as "Ultimate Fighter" season 7 competitor, Matt Brown, has been tapped as a replacement to fight on the "Ultimate Fighter" season 9 finale show. The fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight on Tuesday.
Ribeiro vs. Yamamiya Added To Sengoku 8
A light-heavyweight showdown between Brazilian jiu-jitsu whiz Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro and veteran Kei Yamamiya has been added to World Victory Road Sengoku 8 on May 2. The fight is the second confirmed fight for the event, which will feature Round 2 of the promotion's Featherweight GP tournament.
Matt Serra Still Doesn't Like Matt Hughes
Making sure it doesn't get lost in all the upcoming hype for various other fights, Matt Serra today took the opportunity to fire more trash talk in the direction of Matt Hughes ahead of their UFC 98 co-main event fight. Serra made it clear he, simply put, still doesn't like Hughes.
Sylvia Vs. Mercer Boxing Match Now Off For Now
The planned main event boxing fight between boxing legend Ray Mercer and former UFC Heavyweight Champion Tim Sylvia at Adrenaline MMA 3 on May 30 is now off. The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board will not sanction the fight. This means Adrenaline 3 will be an all-MMA event. The promotion is looking for a replacement main event, and Adrenaline may try again elsewhere in June.
