Fitch: GSP's running scared
so I pasted it below as well. I thought it was quite funny myself. Enjoy.
Jon Fitch has accused Georges St-Pierre of running scared and he has called on The UFC to finally give him a title shot.
Fitch took his UFC record to 8-0 with a convincing victory over Chris Wilson, and now he wants a crack at the welterweight title.
St-Pierre fights Matt Serra at “UFC 83: Serra vs St-Pierre 2" in a bid to reclaim his belt after Serra stunned him with a first round knock-out at "UFC 69".
Fitch is adamant he should be next in line to face the winner, and while he would not predict a winner, he taunted St-Pierre – claiming he is scared.
“The thing I’ve noticed most about St-Pierre in his recent performances is he has become a wrestler. Since getting knocked out he’s been unwilling to stand and trade with people,” said Fitch.
“He had an easy win against Matt Hughes in their second fight where he knocked him out, but after being knocked out by Serra he took the hard road in the next fight with Hughes and tried to outwrestle a wrestler.
“That shows to me he’s afraid of getting knocked out, so I don’t see him standing and putting away Serra on his feet.
“I see this fight going five rounds and being similar to GSP against BJ Penn.”
Commenting on his own plight, Fitch believes nobody has worked harder for a title shot than he has.
“I’ve paid my dues and I think I should be pretty close to that position. Not many guys go 8-0 in The UFC,” he said.
“I’ve fought a lot of tough guys, whether or not the fans know the names, these guys have all been tough b******s.
“I asked [match-maker] Joe Silva to give me the toughest guys, because I’m here to find out how good I am; at the end of the day it’s about how I sleep at night.
“I don’t care how many people kiss my ass and tell me I’m great…I just think I deserve a title shot.”
Frank Shamrock: Invincible, Invisible
Want a career in MMA? Go punch Tito Ortiz in the face.
Just ask Forrest Griffin (Pictures), who saw his stock rise considerably after a valiant near-win against the former UFC light heavyweight champion; or Chuck Liddell (Pictures), who colluded with Ortiz to set pay-per-view records for MMA attractions; or Lee Murray , a British thug who got slotted in main events for dropping Ortiz in a raucous London brawl, Lenny McLean-style.
WEC Champ Marshall is calm before the Storm
In every sport, there are athletes that claim their allegiance to one organization or another, but in this day and age of free agency and free money, the likes of a John Elway, who spent his entire Hall of Fame career quarterbacking the Denver Broncos, are the exception, not the rule.
Jeff Monson Interview

ater this week, Jake Shields (20-4-1) will fight Drew Fickett (32-5) for the first-ever EliteXC welterweight title. It's one of three title fights set for Saturday's Strikeforce/EliteXC show at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

Sakuraba out Jacare In at Dream 2
Touch of gloves to CagePotato for putting these two items together. I’m late to the party with this but I felt compelled to add since I’ve become the de facto DREAM fanboy here at 5Oz. First, SukiMMA reported that Kazushi Sakuraba is out of the DREAM.2 middleweight tournament due to an unhealed wound on his leg:
Joe Lauzon: Redefinition

Ed Ratcliff was raised for this
Ed Ratcliff was a basketball and football star in high school, but those sports were never more than pastimes for him.
His passion was fighting, which shouldn't be much of a surprise; Ratcliff's mother, Lacine, was a karate expert who began teaching him karate as soon as he could walk.
He used to spar with her in their living room and says she knocked him down on more than one occasion.
Tuf love for Troy Mandaloniz
With the debut of the seventh installment of SpikeTV's "The Ultimate Fighter" less than two weeks away, season six veteran Troy "Rude Boy" Mandaloniz (3-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC) knows first-hand that the opportunity for success by the show's participants can often be hampered by the difficulties of life inside the "TUF" house.
Shortly after he was released from California’s Avenal State Prison in early 2005, Shad Smith got a call from the organizers of an underground fight club called Felony Fights. Was he available? they asked. “I was just out of prison and out of money,” Smith told me recently. He was incarcerated for failing to comply with the probation terms of an earlier D.U.I. conviction, a relatively minor offense in his long criminal résumé. “They said they’d give me 800 bucks to show up and double that if I won.”
I thought people might be interested to see that the New York Times Magazine had published an article on MMA, so here it is.

Maryland State Senate Passes MMA Bill
Despite concerns that the bill might not pass the Maryland senate those concerns were for naught. Maryland's Senate has passed the bill to regulate MMA:
John Rallo, the Canton gym owner who prompted the legalization effort, was thrilled at the vote.
"If we would have tried to get it legalized without supplying the stats and making the experts available to testify, I don't think it would have ever gotten passed," he said. "Education was the best way to get what we wanted, and I believed that all along."
