Joaquim Silva meets Andrew Holbrook in lightweight bout at TUF 23 Finale in Las Vegas
July’s TUF 23 Finale in Las Vegas continues to build with the addition of a pair of unbeaten lightweights to the lineup.
Andrew Holbrook (11-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is set to take on fellow unbeaten Joaquim Silva (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) on the card. Silva confirmed the booking to MMAjunkie today, though the UFC has not yet made a formal announcement of the matchup.

23-year-old German welterweight Jessin Ayari signs deal with UFC
A German welterweight with a penchant for submission finishes and a six-fight winning streak is the latest fighter headed to the UFC.
According to his Twitter account, 23-year-old Jessin Ayari (15-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC) has signed a contract with the UFC. The UFC has not made a formal announcement of Ayari’s signing. The news also was reported by German website GNP1.
No fight date or first opponent was named in the report, but the UFC is expected to return to Ayari’s home country of Germany this fall. The UFC last visted the country in June 2015 for UFC Fight Night 69 in Berlin.
Mehdi Baghdad vs. John Makdessi moves from UFC 199 in June to UFC Fight Night 90 in July
A lightweight fight booked for early in the summer months is being moved to “International Fight Week” in July, instead.
A fight between John Makdessi (13-5 MMA, 6-5 UFC) and Mehdi Baghdad (11-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) has been shifted from UFC 199 to UFC Fight Night 90. A UFC official confirmed the change in to MMAjunkie today.
UFC Fight Night 90 takes place July 7 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The entire event streams on UFC Fight Pass. The bout’s original home at UFC 199 takes place June 4 at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif., near Los Angeles with a main card on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
Ex-UFC heavyweight Shawn Jordan, Lorenzo Hood sign with WSOF
World Series of Fighting bolstered its heavyweight division on Thursday, inking free agent heavy hitters Shawn Jordan and Lorenzo Hood to exclusive, multi-fight deals.
The signing of Jordan (18-7) is the more notable of the two. A 31-year-old former fullback for Louisiana State University's 2003 championship team, Jordan spent the past four years fighting under the UFC banner, racking up a 6-4 record with three performance bonuses. All six of Jordan's Octagon victories ended via knockout or TKO, including a memorable hook kick stoppage of top-15 ranked UFC contender Derrick Lewis.
Cezar ‘Mutante’ Replaces Askham, Faces Anthony Smith at ‘TUF 23’ Finale
Anthony Smith has a new opponent at "The Ultimate Fighter 23” finale.
Due to visa issues, Scott Askham was forced to withdraw from the proposed middleweight clash. As a result, Cezar Ferreira will take his place and face Smith on the July 8 card. Promotion officials announced the change on Thursday.
The “TUF 23” finale takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a strawweight title bout between Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The evening’s main card with air on Fox Sports 1.
Valerie Letourneau vs. Joanne Calderwood flyweight bout added to UFC Fight Night 89
The first women’s flyweight bout in the history of the UFC is set for June 18, as one-time strawweight title contender Valerie Letourneau meets Joanne Calderwood at Ottawa’s UFC Fight Night 89.
The UFC calls the bout a "special flyweight attraction", not "the launch of a new division". However, the promotion revealed they are "looking into possibly opening a women’s flyweight division in the future."
Letourneau (8-4) competed as a flyweight and bantamweight before joining the UFC in 2015. The Canadian fighter won back-to-back fights with Jessica Rakoczy and Maryna Moroz to earn a shot at the UFC title against Joanna Jedrzejczyk, losing via unanimous decision.
Diego Brandao released by the UFC following felony arrest
The UFC has released Diego Brandao.
The former Ultimate Fighter winner was cut this week by the promotion, UFC officials confirmed with MMA Fighting on Thursday. This comes on the heels of Brandao's felony battery arrest earlier this month. Sherdog was the first to report the news of his release.
Brandao, 28, was arrested in Albuquerque, N.M., on April 15 on four felony counts, including aggravated battery with great bodily harm. The Brazilian fighter is being accused of pistol-whipping and punching men outside of a strip club after being tossed from the establishment.
Brandao (20-11) is also facing a suspension from the Nevada Athletic Commission after testing positive for marijuana at UFC 195.
Joseph Duffy booked for lightweight bout with Mitch Clarke at UFC Fight Night 90 in Las Vegas
With the massive UFC 200 card in July having little room for more, it appears UFC Fight Night 90 two days before it will start to grow.
A lightweight bout between Joseph Duffy (14-2 MMA, 2-1 UFC) and Mitch Clarke (11-3 MMA, 2-3 UFC) has been added to the card. UFC officials announced the bout after an initial report from the Irish Independent.
UFC Fight Night 90 is a part of the massive week of fights surrounding UFC 200. The event takes place Thursday, July 7, at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The entire event will stream on UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos defends his title against ex-Bellator champ Eddie Alvarez.
Four-Time UFC Veteran Akbarh Arreola Retires from MMA at Age 33
Thirty-five fight veteran Akbarh Arreola has announced his retirement from mixed martial arts at 33 years old.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to announce that out of respect for my family, my physical integrity and the sport, I retire,” Arreola wrote on Facebook. “To my fortune and I'm sure for many of you, today we have many compatriots and friends dedicated 100 percent to the sport and can continue to compete at the highest level that is required. Many thanks to all the people who supported me from the beginning and all those who with their good vibes always drew a smile on my face. "
A native of Tijuana, Mexico, Arreola exits the sport with a 23-11-1 career mark, with 17 victories via submission and five by knockout. He last competed at Pancrase 277 on April 24, losing to Kazuki Tokudome via technical knockout 4:59 into the first round.

WSOF lightweight champ Justin Gaethje expected to face Ozzy Dugulubgov in next outing
Undefeated WSOF lightweight champ Justin Gaethje (16-0) will likely meet six-time WSOF veteran Ozzy Dugulubgov (8-2) in his next title defense.
WSOF President Ray Sefo recently revealed the plan on WSOF.com.
“We’re still working out the details, but right now, I’m leaning toward going with Ozzy Dugulubgov for that shot,” Sefo wrote. “Ozzy debuted with us back in 2013, on just our second event. He’s gone 5-1 in his six World Series of Fighting appearances, and that one loss came via split decision. I think he’s proven himself as a true contender, and this will be his opportunity to show the world that he’s capable of competing at an elite level.”
Shlemenko vs. Emeev, Volkov vs. Vegh set for M-1 Challenge 68 in June
After the completion of the semi-final stage of the middleweight Grand Prix, M-1 Global announced that Alexander Shlemenko and Ramazan Emeev will headline the tournament finale at M-1 Challenge 68 in June. The co-main event will feature a heavyweight title fight between Alexander Volkov and Attila Vegh.

The rematch is once again official.
Jon Jones will fight Daniel Cormier in a light heavyweight unification title bout at UFC 200, as first reported during a telecast of Good Morning America on Wednesday. The fight will headline the July 9 card in Las Vegas, at the brand new T-Mobile Arena.
Travis Browne disappointed that media 'kind of let me down' after UFC reinstatement
It’s been nearly eight months since UFC heavyweight Travis Browne was reinstated by the promotion following a brief temporary suspension following an alleged domestic violence incident. But that time has obviously not lessened Browne’s frustration with the entire episode.
Speaking openly with media for the first time since the brief order, Browne said he was disappointed with how the media handled the reports surrounding his temporary suspension and subsequent reinstatement after an independent investigation came back with “inconclusive evidence.”
Shawn Jordan signs with WSOF: 'I look forward to fighting for their heavyweight strap'
Heavyweight mixed martial arts fighter Shawn Jordan decided to test the free agency waters last year prior to an October UFC fight with Ruslan Magomedov, which he would lose by decision. Following the loss, which snapped a three-fight winning streak (all knockouts), the organization quietly did not re-sign Jordan (18-7).
"Yes, they did not re-sign me," Jordan told BloodyElbow.com on Monday. "No real reasoning. Most likely because I didn't re-sign before the loss.
"The division is shallow and all my fights are good. Yet they let me go."
Yuki Motoya Vacates DEEP Flyweight Title; Org Announces Plans For 115-, 125-Pound Belts
Deep already had plans to crown its inaugural strawweight champion in 2016. Now, the company also finds itself in need of a new flyweight ace.
Officials from the Japanese promotion on Tuesday announced that two-time Deep flyweight titleholder Yuki Motoya has vacated his 125-pound title. Motoya, 26, was scheduled to fight Brazilian prospect Allan Nascimento at last week’s Rizin event, but the bout was canceled at the 11th hour after Motoya reportedly suffered health complications related to his weight cut.
