Michael Bisping says UFC 217 showdown against Georges St-Pierre ‘might be my last ever fight’
Michael Bisping has accomplished a lot over the course of his 12-year run in the UFC. Whether it’s his TUF 3 triumph, or tying the UFC record for most overall wins, or the late-career resurgence that carried him to the middleweight title, Bisping has remained a fixture at the highest levels of the sport for longer than nearly all of his contemporaries from MMA’s boom period. So with his Nov. 4 showdown against Georges St-Pierre looming — a matchup that’s exactly the type of blockbuster moneymaker that always eluded him — Bisping believes there’s a chance UFC 217 could spell the perfect end to his career.

Luke Rockhold Plans Move To Light Heavyweight After Daniel Cormier Retires
Luke Rockhold has some unfinished business in the UFC middleweight division, but it doesn’t sound like the former champion plans on staying at 185 pounds that much longer. On Saturday night, Rockhold dispatched former World Series of Fighting champion David Branch with an impressive second round submission due to strikes, which put him back in the win column after suffering a loss to Michael Bisping last June. Rockhold wasted no time proclaiming his intention to go after Bisping and the middleweight title once again, but from the sound of things he’s got limited time left in the division.

Daniel Cormier calls for MMA fans to ‘lay off’ Jon Jones: ‘We must show compassion’
Daniel Cormier would be well within his rights to heap criticism upon his rival, Jon Jones, in light of everything that has happened over the last few weeks. No one has been more affected by Jones’ countless indiscretions over the past few years than Cormier, and nowhere has that pattern been more clear than UFC 214. The rematch between the two light heavyweights may be null and void in the history books, but the brain trauma Cormier sustained against Jones will last forever. Nonetheless, on Friday, Cormier took to Instagram, posting a statement in defense of Jones and calling for fight fans to show compassion to the embattled former UFC champion.

Take another look at Gilbert Melendez's jacked up leg five days after UFC 215
Gilbert Melendez's leg took one hell of a beating in his fight with Jeremy Stephens at UFC 214, to the point where we're amazed he made it to the final bell. Melendez is probably amazed too, considering he tried to quit on the stool before round 3 but was convinced by his corner to keep fighting. Stopping would have been the smart thing to do (won’t somebody think of the knee ligaments?), but no guts = no glory. Even though he lost the fight with scorecards that dipped to the 30-25 range, the UFC awarded Gil and Jeremy $50,000 each for Fight of the Night. And even better, Melendez didn't permanently screw his leg up fighting on it for another round.

Max Holloway waiting on new contract before making title defense
With Conor McGregor seemingly gone from the featherweight division for good, and longtime champion Jose Aldo conquered, Max Holloway is the man at 145 pounds Now he’s looking for a king’s ransom. While worthy challengers like Frankie Edgar and Cub Swanson are waiting in line to go toe-to-toe with Holloway, the proud Hawaiian is unsure of when he’ll compete next due to the fact that his UFC 212 title unification bout triumph over Aldo was apparently the last fight on his contract.

Mark Hunt: You can hear me starting to slur my words
Fighting is bad for you. It’s thrilling to watch, and more thrilling to do. But if you are a fan, when it’s over, you can go on to the next fight. If you are a fighter, you can develop chronic traumatic encephalopathy. CTE is found in athletes with a history of repetitive symptomatic concussions as well as subconcussive hits to the head that do not cause symptoms. The first stage can begin eight to ten years after the fighter experiences repetitive, mild traumatic brain injury. It can and often does begin years after retirement. There are treatments, but no cure. And it is progressive.

Jesse Taylor notified of potential anti-doping violation
Jesse Taylor’s roller coaster ride in mixed martial arts continues. Earlier this year the welterweight won The Ultimate Fighter 25: Redemption, nearly a decade after his appearance on TUF 7. He was removed then as a cast member after a drunken incident that involved kicking out a limo window and yelling a hotel security. Taylor showed composure and maturity on the show this year, and eventually submitted Dhiego Lima at The Ultimate Fighter: Redemption Finale on July 7, 2017. He was scheduled to fight Belal Muhammad at UFC Fight Night 121 on November 19, 2017, but has been pulled from the event over a flagged PED test.

Shevchenko dropping to 125
Valentina Shevchenko appeared recently on Submission Radio for the first time and discussed her controversial Split Decision loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 215, and what’s next. “Now I’m thinking to move to 125, and I think more probably my next fight it will be in this division 125,” she said. “Because 125 is like much closer weight for me, it’s my real weight category, and even at like 135 I feel comfortable and I feel like 125 I will be able to use all my techniques and all my skills because I will fight with the same-sized opponents as me.”
